Diana Taurasi On Caitlin Clark: Fair or Foul?

In this video I give my thoughts on whether or not I think the comments from Diana Taurasi on Caitlin Clark are fair. If you don't know Diana Taurasi is an NBA Legend that is in the debate for being the greatest of all time. I do what a lot of channels did not do which was show the actual comments made from the WNBA legend so you can decide for yourself and I actually dive into the whole segment to keep everything in proper context. Also keep in mind Diana was very complimentary and even had a lot of interaction with Caitlin on her show. She was asked a question and she gave her honest assessment.

Clark will be great at the next level because unlike Taurasi, she had to drag 2 & 3 star players to the Championship Game whereby Taurasi played with 4 & 5 star players. I always bet on the player that did more with less.

Taurasi is the GOAT of the WNBA, and is in the GOAT decision for the college game as well. First of all, it is quite reasonable to expect GOAT level players to win championships. Maravich was dismissed as a sideshow precisely because he didn't win. Second, physically gifted players like LeBron James or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are more likely to adjust quickly to the pro game than skilled players like Steph Curry. Curry is considered the best shooter in NBA history, but he didn't average 20 ppg until his fourth season.

she stated a fact that these kids are great playing against other 18 year olds. She only stated that she will be playing grown woman in the WNBA. nothing wrong with that statement at all. She also said it will take some players more time to get used to the league nothing wrong with that either. I saw the whole interview not a damn thing wrong with what she said. I wonder why people cannot understand plain English and read into this like she thinks these players are gonna come in and stink up the WNBA. She simply stated it will not be as easy in the WNBA as it was in college. I mean the WNBA is the next level right. it should be harder. I mean lets take Reese for instance do you think it will be just as easy for her to go up against the likes of Boston, Stewart, A'ja Wilson, Delle Donne , Jonquel Jones night after night. There damn sure are not any players in college the caliper of these ladies I just mentioned. Look Dianna Taurassi has been a great player for over 25 years and speaks from experience very few come into the WNBA and light it up right away. I think Clark may just be one of those generational talents who might do it. But the WNBA is full of players with her size and quickness so I expect she may have an adjustment period it just might not take her as long as others. 5 players got drafted from SC last year. only 3 of them actually made the team they were drafted by. A couple years in Europe where you can play with older woman to develop just a bit more then come back to the WNBA is what quite a few have done.

@@user-cd4js1wu9e funny she said that seeing how both of their games instantly translated to the WNBA and her PPGM increased for the first several years. How weird your comparing NFL flops to Basketball? Try naming some Basketball Flops. You need to watch the in game show they put on during the UConn/Iowa final game. Where the EGO and UConn Bias comes out. I believe it was who'd take 1st ? "Paige Buekers, Next Question" Taurasi 15ppgm career avg in college 3r 4a Caitlin Clark 27ppgm over her 4yrs 7r 8a Explain to me what the learning curve is going to be here ? They're both 6' DT 41yrs CC 22yrs. Clark was invited to the Olympic team, the one Taurasi has been on for 5yrs. At least a half a dozen veteran players have been caught making false statements about how many shots she takes, how many years it took to break scoring records, etc... This is a post game interview and people have already popped off on Sue and Diana for their comments and attitude.

@@seandowney5549 Really If Caitlin had all the stars that those UConn teams had you think she would have put up those numbers. No she wouldn't because those teams were stacked and not reliant on one person to carry the bulk of the scoring. Caitlin is generational I have said her game translates to the college game much quicker than say Reees who I think will find it a bit harder when she is going up against Aj'a Wilson, Boston, Jonquel Jones, Griner, Delle Donne, & Stewart night after night just to name a few. So what Dianna said was that they were great putting up those numbers against 18 year olds and now there going to play against grown woman who have been playing at a high level in the pros for quite a while. I mean it is the WNBA where now your going up against the best 144 players in the world not college players who are done after there college career. What are they supposed to say well were really scared we wont be able to play against this group coming in give me a fkn break. They are grown woman and they are the best of the best so yeah I think there will be an adjustment for all of them how much depends on the position they play. It's always known that post players have a harder time adjusting to the next level more so than guards.that translates from Middle school to high school, high school to college, college to the pros. Guards just seem to adjust quicker.

@@user-cd4js1wu9e Yes Really you just solidified my point. What Taurasi didn't face grown women when she entered the league? Ye she did and her PPGM went from 15 ppgm to 20+ in some seasons where she literally carried Phoenix. Clark's game will translate in the same manner except that she won't have to carry the fever because they have the talent to complement her and her game will basically be the same because they'll be able to spread the floor, pick and roll, etc.. She won't have to put as many 3's but I bet she gets better looks It also foolish to think she not gearing for the challenge which basically what Taurasi did was challenge her. Taurasi never ever put up averages of 7 rebounds and 8.9 assists ever in her career. Taurasi was and is great but Clark statistically is Greater. No one has to like it, it just is. Fever Road Opponents. "If you build it she will come" Moving to larger arenas because Iowa is coming to town in the form of Caitlin Clark. What pissed Clark fans off was the comparison between Caitlin and Paige. Both great players, one has a historic career, the other has a history of injuries and finished with a pretty good year. When asked "if you could draft one, which would it be?", Bird said how fantastic Clarks been and about the potential of Paige. Taurasis said " Paige" next question. No doubt in her mind, Paige is that much better.

There are all kinds of legends of NBA and WNBA, being receptive, we can't ignore that there is likely some resentment UCONN players comments. And a trend that UCONN players aren't as positive about Clark. Don't just walk past that. UCCON lost to Iowa. Do I think she is being hateful, maybe not, But these WNBA players need to be grateful, because the world didn't know who they were until CLARK! And, even though it's not relevant, the media wouldn't be doing stories about how some of them are lesbians, until CLARK brought in an audience and attention to the league. Holy Cow, I have seen more clips about there lesbian relationship than their games....lol No hate, just kinda odd. I guess Clark gave them a voice to be heard. You have to look at all the former UCONN players overall presentation about Clark even picking a UCONN player as the best college player over CLARK! hopefully, YOUR STARTING TO GET IT!'

I posted this on another video about thjs : I hate the media!!! I was watching this show when this happened and her answer WAS NOT DIRECTED AT CAITLIN CLARK. the interviewer asked her a general question about this new wave of players about to be drafted into the WNBA. He even listed out SEVERAL names of the women about to enter the draft , and compared it to when male players enter the NBA and how the pro players will be waiting for them. He said in a lighthearted way “Caitlin’s coming, Angel’s coming , Cameron’s coming Kamila’s coming , so what will be waiting for them?” and she even responded in a lighthearted way before really explaining what she meant. And what she is ACTUALLY saying is valid. She was NOT asked specifically asked “what do you think about Caitlin Clark coming into the league?” , so them writing “Diana Taurasi on Caitlin” as a headline is sensationalism at it’s best. They even left out part of her quote when she said “we’ve all been there before” and “that doesn’t mean a players game won’t translate because when you’re great you’ll only continue to get better.” Got everybody debating and pissed over something that is not accurate. UGH
