Let's get real. If she wasn't nominated and won for Annie Hall, she would've been nominated and won for Looking For Mr. Goodbar. 1977 was her year. Phenomenal and iconic actress. Also a beauty!!

In 1977 Diane won an Academy Award, A Golden Globe award and a BAFTA award for Annie Hall. Her influential wardrobe in the film-of her own choice-changed the face of the fashion world at that time. She's a total five star fox!

Diane Keaton also won The New York Film Critics Award for Best Actress in December 1977 for her performance in "Annie Hall". The 1st runner up (2nd place) in The NYFCC award was Shelly Duvall for Three Women and the 2nd runner up (3rd place) was Diane Keaton for her performance that same year in Looking For Mr. Goodbar.

I'm not big on Diane Keaton, but jesus did she ever deserve that award. To see her go from a nervous, awkward girl to some perfect untouchable, without being obvious and/or obnoxious about it either, during the chronological story, is breath taking. Seeing it out of chronological order is even better, because it shows the changes so much more so. We all experience love like that. We meet someone that seems fit for us and suddenly she's/he's ungraspable. Just a perfect movie.

I say this because this was Diane being herself...no other woman can ever pull off this unbelievable and absolutely gorgeous ensemble of a dress..Ruth Morley design this specifically for Diane, and only an actress as unique, free spirited, and above all, comfortable enough in her own skin and style can be authentic enough to wear it..This is the most iconic walk up to the podium Bar None!!!

Love Diane. Great actress over all these decades! Annie Hall was her most famous film. Loved her in it. but I think she was better in some less known dramatic films and did not get her due. She is amazing in Shoot The Moon for example. Meryl Streep got a lot of plaudits through the 80s but IMO, Diane is up there with Meryl in every way. We love you Diane lol

Totally agree! She was superb in "Shoot the Moon " (an amazing film ). She was also stunning in "Reds," "The Little Drummer Girl," "Mrs. Soffel," "Crimes of the Heart," "Baby Boom," and "The Good Mother." She was a really daring, unfailingly truthful actress-quite possibly my favorite of that period. The film critic Pauline Kael wrote some very incisive reviews of her performances.

I still think she was even better that same year in the otherwise flawed Looking for Mr Goodbar, but that wasn't as big a hit. Still, Diane's Annie Hall is a classic performance and was the best choice among the five. Jane Fonda was runner-up for Julia. Kathleen Quinlan should have been included for I Never Promised You a Rose Garden, also Shelley Duvall in 3 Women instead of the two actresses from the Turning Point, both of whom I love, incidentally.
