@raeconteur
@raeconteur 3 месяца назад
Here after Jonathan Glazer's acceptance speech at the Oscar's several days ago...the parallels are absolutely uncanny. Both the films 'Julia' and 'Zone of interest' are about WW2 and the evils of the Nazis. In both speeches, both antisemitism and sionist aggression was denounced. In both cases, it took a great deal of courage. The only difference being, Glazer is jewish himself and was not booed, not on stage at least. And so, almost half a century later, maybe that was an improvement.

But one thing I have not forgotten is how humanly, empathetic, caring and a fighter of injustices she has been all her life. The good feel that the book gave me while reading. I recommend it to everyone because it really inspires you to be your best self ❤️.

This happenned in 1978- LOng before the situation in Gaza. At least she didn't say- I disavow my Judiasm. Well, she wasn't Jewish. Interestingly, that most of the Pro-Pals and ARabs until recently denied the Holocaust ever happenned and claimed the Zionists aka The Jews made it up. Now most of the Pro-pals (Although the ?Syurian President recently made a speech in which he cast doubt on the Validity of the Holocaust) amit it happen, but say the Zionists- aka the Jews are the New Nazis.

This is from 1978, while Gaza was Israel proper. It wasn't till 2005 that Gaza was emptied of Israelis so that Arabs could move in. Redgrave is easily one of the finest actresses ever to grace the screen. Most critics thought so, most actors think so. Listen to the things Meryl Streep has to say about her, and yes, I'm a BIG fan of Streep, but Vanessa is better and should have several Oscars, particularly for The Bostonians and Wheatherby. Two great subtle performances.

@@michelrodrigues5686 And you deserve to have your opinion as well. We'd better let Streep in on this one because apparently she disagrees with us. I guess it comes down to how we come to our decisions. Most people gage by awards. I guess since McDormand has three best actress Oscars many might now start saying she's better than Streep. They both have three, but Alan Rickman said it best: actors don't win Oscars, roles do, and this is so true, and echoed in a statement by the great Glenda Jackson who is as good as ANY who had e ever lived, and I summarize: Many who should have won didn't win because the role wasn't showy enough, and she ended it with a classic statement: they certainly don't make you act any better. Look up that interview on RU-vid.

Since these last comments, Meryl Streep's 2017 Golden Globe speech came close. Meryl had it easy though - no one booed her!

Because unless you're Meryl Streep or Tom Hanks it would be a very bad business decision.

One of the nominees should have been Terri Garr, Melinda Dillon's co-star in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. She gave such a strong and credible performance as a suburban, discontented wife whose life is turned upside down by the escapades of her UFO-searching husband that you sometimes forget you're watching what is supposedly a sci-fi movie.

Garr had several great career moments that went unacknowledged.

@@BENJ1969 Agreed. Her terrific performance in "Tootsie" was also not acknowledged.

Regardless of if you agree with the opinion stated or not, it was unarguably delivered with the upmost grace.

Attmay Being ant-Zionist does not mean im Racist. Zionism is not a race, its a political ideology. Stop playing the victim card and go learn something. That shit doesnt work anymore.

bmw200000 Yes it is. If you oppose the national sovereignty and collective self-defense of the Jewish people, you are a racist. Aren't you late for a cross-burning or would it conflict with your hot date with your sister? blogs.timesofisrael.com/the-trouble-with-anti-zionism/

+Nature of the game - and yet it is the freest country in the middle east - for women both Jew and Muslim, Arab and Israeli. The only country where gays aren't thrown off roofs, dragged through the streets tied to a motorcycle or hung. The only country in the ME where freedom of religion is guaranteed and respected; where the upkeep of EVERY religious building or shrine is borne by the Israeli government. so please FUCK OFF
