In April 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold opened fire at Littleton, Colorado's Columbine High School, killing 12 students and one teacher and injuring 24 during a 45-minute rampage that left the country stunned. Almost 17 years later, Klebold's mother, Sue Klebold, will hold her first television interview with ABC News anchor to discuss her journey in the aftermath of one of the country's. The interview will coincide with the release of her new memoir, "A Mother's Reckoning: Living in the Aftermath of Tragedy." Sue Klebold's book proceeds will go toward research and to charitable foundations focusing on issues.

Sue Klebold has been blamed for Dylan and his actions. Why didn't you see the signs sooner and you should have gone into his room and gone through his things. Dylan is the one to blame! I am sure she has received death threats and people staring at her and people being angry at her and she had to go into hiding. She still carries that pain and what Dylan did! She was a mother and lost her son and she is a victim too so stop blaming the mother, if there is one person to BLAME its DYLAN!

@anna verano kids may not act the same, but there most assuredly was something off about her son. she had to know that, while it is impossible guess he would do what he did. She had to know his troubled behaviors were there, but she admitted she ignored them rather then gotten him help. And the fact of the matter is, she raised a psychopathic killer.

@@lizardking02793 She is very manipulative. Bottom line is if your kid grows up to be Charles Manson, Ted bundy, or the Columbine killers then behind closed doors you were messing things up.

We so often forget that both shooters were virtually children. Sure they were legally adults, but how many of us are the same person we were in HS? I truly wish these kids had been helped. They were so lost they felt they had to terrorize their peers to have value. Teens hide everything from parents, she has no responsibility in this.

There were many warning signs and many failures on different people. Parents not thinking about what they caught being as bad as it was, police not taking MULTIPLE reports seriously, school staff not stopping a bullying culture and therapists not seeing a problem in graphic and violent writing/videos. When kids lose all hope and nobody around them picks them up but instead they are beat down repeatedly in an institution with nobody reaching out for them these things are a possibility. Taking ones life or that of others seems not as impossible to these kids as it should be. While in the end the perpetrators are to blame for their choice of violence and their actions, most often they aren’t born to be that way but rather a product of their environment. We have to make sure that the system doesn’t have cracks to let kids fall in to and get lost but that we make sure everybody is taken care of. Also threat assessment is crucial.

This was a response to bullying. It was known all around the school that the jocks bullied these two constantly because they "weren't like them" and weren't into sports and such. If I remember correctly, on the day of the shooting, Eric Harris encountered one of the students in the parking lot. Harris said something like, "I like you, (student name), go home." He went home and lived. Obviously, he didn't hate all of them. He spared someone. That person was probably one of the people who stood up against the other kids bullying them at some point or never said anything bad to either of the two.

Suicides followed after parents not being able to take care of disabled kids. Copy cats were the worst, so really it still the worst of the worst mass shooting in school 'cause of the domino effect it instilled, still happening to this year, 19 or maybe 20 yrs after.

As a mature gentleman myself, it is very important for every institutions especially our schools to have anti-bullying programs, loneliness awareness, mental illness awareness, strong security, & weapon control to try to make the world a kinder safer place for our society period. I am not saying we should be paranoid what I really mean is that we should be very cautious of any boy, any girl, any man, and any woman who possesses any dangerous weapons because it is a matter of time before they start going on a deadly rampage which they will end up harming & murdering innocent people. Also they will harm themselves which would lead them to commit suicide. That is why it is very important to connect with people who are struggling with any problems in their life both mentally & physically. To all my fellow human brothers and sisters around the world stay safe & always remember be genuine & take care of one another.

Lindsay Neither actually. I watched an interview from the neighbor of Eric Harris who has a film footage of them as children and Dylan once mentioned to Eric that he had Jewish blood in his heritage and in that film footage you can see Eric snap and question that "Oh you're Jewish?" And Dylan's face was utter fear, he thought Eric was going to kill him because of it. Eric snapped back and just brushed it off. Dylan feared Eric so he became like him. Their own friends said that it was always Eric pushing Dylan around and making Dylan have the thoughts that Eric was having. THEIR OWN FRIENDS. Go educate yourself. Dylan is just as much at fault here as Eric, but there is always a back story.
