Joe! Thank you ,Thank You , Thank You, for posting this! Dick was my dear old friend. He had bought an airplane from where I worked at the Fresno airport and through the years we became friends. I have played this Strat. We sat in his living room and swapped guitars. It is the original 61 that Leo Fender gave him, and the one in the Beach Blanket movies. The low E string is a 60 gauge, and the neck is like holding a tree. He turned my Strat upside down and did mean things to it! Lol He laughed at my lite gauge strings. He signed my guitar and I still have it. To anyone who loves Jimi Hendrix, Thank Dick! He was Jimi’s inspiration and friend. He encouraged Jimi to step out from behind Little Richard’s bass and do his own thing. Dick was full of life and gave every show his all. Rest In Peace my friend!

I'm a lefty, started out with a right hand guitar restrung, and later got standard left hand model, but never in a million years would have considered Dick Dale's reversed version... it blows my mind!

Dale was the real deal! His music was extremely challenging to me in the early 1960s. Even The Beach Boys thought to cover his songs. There never has been nor will there ever be another Duck Dale, “King of the Surf Guitar.” Thank you, Joe for honoring this great musician. An original, a trailblazer..and a badass guitar player.

Hey pmoore4……. Glad you’re enjoying them. Honestly I thought I was running out two months ago but we keep digging deeper in the vault and squeezing something out. Seriously I think we are getting extremely low now. Thankfully the Covid seems to be over just as all the vault videos are about to run dry. The Vault Series came about just to fill in during the Covid 19 thinking it would be over in a month or two. We had no idea it would last as long as it did and I just lost count of all the interviews I did by myself with one camera for so many years. Thankfully people are feeling like doing new interviews again now in person sitting across the table from each other. I refused to do the interviews by internet by video screens. So sterile. I decided to wait until we could meet in person again. Thanks for your support…. Best…Joe

Well… I certainly appreciate it but my back still hurts and traffic is still terrible driving into to downtown everyday but I’m optimistic. You know a hundred thousand record sales was nothing … you had to hit a million for platinum and at least 500,000 for gold. RU-vid is different:)…. Do you ever verify the content you put out in RU-vid videos? You may want to consider doing so to protect your credibility. For instance in this video of Dick Dale, Dale contend he met Mr. Leo Fender in 1954 and at that time Mr. Fender created a special jig to make a left handed Strat guitar for Dale. If that is so why is it the Strat Guitar that Dale performs with made in 1960-61? I know it’s a 60-61 because I was around when he got it. Fender was making left-handed Strat guitars in 1954, for instance one of the first is numbered 7206, many thereafter. Someone told me Steve Segal has one made in 56? The truth of the matter is Dale never met Feder until my cousin took him up to the Fullerton shop in 1960, maybe around Thanksgiving time in 1959 when I was working there part time while attending CSF. I was a nobody there, my job was just cleaning up the place at night. Most of the employees were Mexican or white guys from the south. My cousin played with Dale at the Prison of Socrates down in Newport and he asked me if I had any connections at Fender to get him a discount for an amp. One day I took him up to the shop and Dale was tagging along. A couple months later my cousin told me Mr. Fender loaned him some gear and Dale got jealous and wanted in on the hand-outs.
