First look at the DID 520 ERVT X-Ring chain for offroad motorcycles. I've been using the DID 520 VT2 chain and compare it to the new 520 ERVT

Another great video & timely, too, saw it when I realized the VT@ had been discontinued

Pleased that you found the video useful. The DID chains are very good and I don't know of a better chain than the ERVT for off-road use ..

I run the exact same setup, bulletproof. I do NOT run the Supersprox front sprocket only OEM front sprocket. Alot of aftermarket front sprockets are hardened which wears away at the splines on the output shaft alot faster. OEM front wears faster but is a cheap item to replace when needed. Off topic, i have just purchased a 2019 250 TPI. Bike is a amazing, no issues. I have seen a few videos on an idle screw fix instead of using the air bypass screw. Have you experimented with this or researched the subject at all? I don’t believe what i hear most of the time, but i do trust your opinions and research. Very professional channel and in depth breakdowns

I switched from the vt2 to a JT nickel plate xring. It was significantly cheaper and despite not marketed for off-road it has served me well. The nickel plating works to stop surface rust, a problem I had with the vt2.

How is the DID ervt chain holding up? Is it as good as the vt2?

If the chain it too long do you need a chain breaker ?? Is does come with a master link

I bought a DID 520 VX3 to replace my current chain. I wanted to see how it compares to the ones presented here (the difference is in the no of links 118 instead of 116 so I needed to calculate the link weight): 520 VT2 => 1720/116=14.8275 grams 520 ERVT => 1703/116 = 14.6810 grams 520 VX3 => 1800/118 = 15.25 grams (greased, as taken out of the box, without the master link) 520 VX3 Link thickness = 1.92mm Even though it should probably work fine, I am not sure I bought the right chain...

Thank you for the video. Do you regularly lube your chain?

Yes, I clean and lube my chain after every ride. This is the cleaning and lube method I use: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZbFDsAe8Y0U.html

I currently have the VT2 chain. How do you determine it needs a replacement? It hasn't stretched, but I do got a lot of side to side stretch when applying force, I can get the chain move from the slider on each side. I have about 80 hours on it.

Do links stick? I run them until links dont want to move freely.

How long does a typical chain last you? I just picked up the same chain for my crf450 and I'm curious with your maintenance how much life you get out of your chain/sprockets.
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad 4 года назад
Chain life will be very dependent on what conditions you ride and how you maintain the chain. I ride every weekend and replace the chain once, or twice a year. The front sprocket I usually replace with the chain, The rear sprocket (SuperSprox) last a long time so I examine the teeth and replace if they start looking hooked.

@@TokyoOffroad I ride in mostly forestry roads, mountain rides, and dirt pits. So some is severe on the chain, some easy.

Approximately how many hours of use? can you use this ERVT7 chain before changing it? cordial greetings from guadalajara mexico
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad Год назад
The number of hours use will depend on riding conditions. Mud and sand riding will significantly reduce the lifetime. But either way the DID ERVT chain lasts very well and I can recommend it. For my mixed offroad riding I usually get over 100 hours out of one.

kind of a similar topic, i have the 2024 300 xc and i find 1st gear is way to low, i dont ride fast, so my question to you is what would you recommend for both front and rear tooth sprockets to make first gear more useable in heavy woods or slow lugging (presently 48 rear and 14 tooth front both factory) any ideas would be helpful, thank you.
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad 10 месяцев назад
I'm using 13/50 gearing on my 2024 KTM 300 EXC, which has the same transmission gear ratios as your XC and I find works well for slow, technical terrain. If you want to continue using the 48 rear you currently have then I would suggest trying a 13 front sprocket.

How many hours do you get from the VT2 and from the Supersporx sprocket?
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad 4 года назад
Approximately 100H for the chain. Sprockets I'm not certain as I have multiple wheel sets, but the Supersprox seem to last a long time (250H?)
