Duke Strikcani It’s easy for a good player to ball on a bad team, they are always the #1 option, and can go iso anytime they want. WestBrook was “Mr.Triple-Double” until he had to share the ball with George, and now Harden. Lowry is putting up great 2nd scoring option numbers, while running a team that’s 2nd in the east. He’s a team leader, who’s team has consistently been regular season winners, even when they only had him and overrated DeRozen together. Why can’t Beal put up his numbers, while elevating his teammates, because that’s what a Max Player should be capable of doing, at minimum.

That shows you how much he’s elevating the play of his teammates, like a real leader does . You know kind of like how Kyrie can easily score around 30 a game too, but doesn’t elevate the level of play of his teammates either, and he instead actually drags them down.

@@razkable My man i didn't really understand what you meant by that but if you're asking why Shai didn't make it over CP3, for one CP3 is a leader, he has led the Thunder and guided the young guys like Shai to a winning record. Its that veteran presence that comes into perspective. He has been averaging 17/5/7 as well which is great for someone looking to make his teammates better. He is a perfect leader a team looks for, for that reason he has been awarded with that spot, I guess. I may not agree with this but I can see why. As for Vucevic, I haven't been paying attention to the Magic that much, the thing is he has been putting up 18 and 11 which is great but there have been better performers in the east, also they are 7th in the east, which is ok but some players on the better teams are having better INDIVIDUAL seasons. You're right, Lowry's shooting the ball better from 3, and playing much better defense. Beal's individual defensive rating is one of the worst in the entire NBA. He's letting scrubs drop 20+ on him.

This is why you can't look at just stats when making choices like this. You have to take the team composition into account.

If that player is a big contributing factor to the record, then yes it should. Lowry isn't only putting up those numbers, he's the leader of 2nd seed time in the east on a team that everyone dismissed after Kawhi left. He took that mantle to move this team forward. He creates plays, takes charges, gets assists, steals, etc. Not everything should be decided based on stats. There are a lot more contributing factors when it comes to being an AS player. I'm not trying to take anything away from Beal, personally, I'm still iffy on Trae being a starter in the first place, I think he's great but I don't think he does as much as Lowry does overall. You can't just go by stats when choosing because so many players put up big numbers now. You need to factor in so much more and Lowry just wins out. Not to mention this is his 6th in a row as an All Star.

The Raptors win whether Lowry plays or not and that is just a fact! They would probably be second without him. In fact they might be better without him! When he fractured his thumb in November, the team went 9-2 in the 11 games he missed. Last year when he missed games, their record was similar too. In the playoffs it's Fred Van Fleet from the guard positionwho was the much better player consistently. Lowry is a good player but the Raptors don't need him to win. The real question is, as bad as the Wizards have been all season, what would their record look like without Bradley Beal??

VanVleet is great at times, but he disappears during some parts of games. They may have a good record, but I have no doubt that they would have at least a few less wins if they didn't have Lowry, especially since a good few of the wins they have this season were due to Lowry going completely clutch. I'm not saying that he's everything, but he's a big part as to why they aren't completely exhausted to this point. Attrition and sustainability matter. And my main point was that the Rap's are the second best team in the east and thus, they deserve more than one all star. TinnieTa21 The Raptors are all about their great coaching, great bench, wonderful home support and a relatively weak Eastern Conference. It’s actually been like this for years when it come to the Raptors and the regular season. With or without Kawhi (as we are seeing this season) the Raptors would be high up in the East standings. Kawhi Leonard’s impact was really all about the playoffs. DeRozan & Lowry certainly didn’t raise their game in the playoffs and at times they regressed. Last year it was all about Kawhi’s clutch play in the playoffs. Van Fleet was also clutch offensively & defensively (once his wife had their baby)! Siakam & Ibaka were also great. I’m not saying Lowry isn’t a good player because he is skilled and shows great effort & tenacity. However to suggest he is a big reason why they are in second place - I don’t agree. Small sample size but over 2 seasons the Raptors are 17-5 without him.

The wins are over very mediocre teams and many have not been dominant at all. I don't think that the team will have as good of a record as last year. I think that Lowry carrying as big of a load as he does in the games he plays, allows the other "guards" to maintain their energy for a longer period throughout the season. IMO, without Lowry, the team would have 2-3 less wins, which drastically changes their position in the standings.
