My first thought. I am so protective of my daughters that I don't allow them to go to sleepovers unless it's girl scout related where I can come, or if I'm hosting the sleepover/party. I cannot imagine what thought process this lady did (or didn't) do to think it was okay to leave their kid with a stranger who has not been vetted.
It doesnt matter that he is a ex con but that he is more or less a stranger. I would not let anyone bathe my 5 year old or leave that person alone with her. I hope at east she did a background check on him

He gave a hard swallow at around the 2:09 mark, right after JJ discussed the potty training. It made him nervous. I'm kinda shocked JJ did not question it.
I liked the plaintiff at first, but leaving her child alone with this man who was attempting to “potty train” her is probably the most irresponsible thing I’ve ever heard a parent do.
why was she shaking her head constantly with the buying him clothes from walmart. She said she took out a loan to buy clothes for walmart basically helping him out. But you think its true he really helped her out by potty training, being alone with the 5 year old and cooking for her? My mom would barely trusts anyone when i was little. @@cindymontejano7120Agreed. My comment addressed the comment above about the child not having been potty trained at age 5: she was much younger at the time. She is 5 at the time of this case, and that was completely lost.
Judge Judy should be taking that woman to task about a 38 year old ex con looking after her 5 year old daughter... why isnt she potty trained??? Weird for sure
She might be developmentally delayed. One of my friend’s kids is autistic and wasn’t potty trained until age 4. She refused to use the potty despite everything they tried. They wanted to transfer her sooner from daycare to preschool but couldn’t because wasn’t potty trained. She had now been adopted but was a foster child who had been taken out of a meth house as an infant. They think her mom did drugs while pregnant.

She had been raped by her mothers former live in boyfriend. The family psychiatrist told them she did it to try to get him to stop.....like if he was too grossed out maybe he wouldn't rape her that night. Yes really.

This case is very disturbing! Why would anyone let a man newly released from prison, who isn't family, take care of their 5-year-old daughter unattended? He looks really creepy, slimy, and has dumb excuses for everything. While I know his character is bad, I hope it wasn't bad enough to hurt that little girl. Shame on you, Mom. This is terrible!

This pisses me off in many ways…. My mom and I are currently in the process of trying to get disability because she has a whole list of ailments and can barely walk. We been fighting for almost 2 years and this idiot gets it on the second try… I swear this government sucks sometimes!
Yes, I agree. I have cancer and have been denied three times. They say my condition isn’t serious enough to qualify for disability😳 JJ is right. This is some kind of America. And this loose canon gets disability. Gee
I'm sorry. I have a ton of ailments too, and I seem to keep getting more but nothing too bad that disables my body from moving thank God. I'm not applying because there are people like your mom and the person below your comment who REALLY needs it.

WHY??????? is a child being left under the supervision of ANY MAN/WOMAN that is a stranger to the child and who has done time in PRISON? potty training, bathing, taking her to and from places, etc. WTH!!!!

Aside from the fact that they endangered their daughter, I knew exactly why Judge Judy was asking him all those questions... Once she heard he was on disability his case was over.
He gets more in Disability than I get in Social Security each month, and I worked for 35 years. For those who can't understand that, our hourly pay years ago was $2.50-$3.00 per hour.

In 1982 when Iapplied for SSI for my 5 year old daughter diagnose with Accute Lymphocytic Leukemia the person at Social Security taking my applcation told me if they denied my request to keep to appeal as SS will drag it out as long as they can and it is almost always denied at first. I was lucky that since this involved a child she started receiving within month.
Correct. I was just denied in Canada. Everyone is denied. They want you to drop out. I have my tribunal hearing in 2 months. I have a lawyer. They are going to LOSE.
Why would you let any grown man potty train your child who isn’t a family member or a childcare provider? Especially not a man fresh out. Hell she didn’t even know he was locked up until he called her

Judy didn't want the plaintiff's anctics to get in the way of her systematically taking apart the defendant. Sounds to me like he could be a nanny, or cook-housekeeper, or drive for Uber or something instead of collecting disability.
The defendant thought the chores would prove that he was compensating the plaintiff and her husband for everything they gave him so they could call it quits. When it finally dawned on him that JJ was actually aiming for the other direction (i.e. disproving his disability), it was just too late. XD
