Did I Buy a FAKE Shure SM7B microphone?!

I never even considered the possibility of getting a fake, good to bring attention to this.

I am curious to the pictures you send Shure which told them it is a fake? I have my fair share of Shure products and I wonder if I notice it myself as well. (Already bounced several mics I tried to buy second hand, due to noticing they were fake/counterfit)

I bought an obvious fake that was sold directly by Amazon. It did not have the SM7B sound that my old one from 2013 had, and the regular foam was grey and not black. It also arrived with the tape cut, so somebody bought a real SM7B and returned a fake one. Amazon accepted the return. Now I am going to buy a SM7dB for my 2nd mic. I hope that's a safe bet.

Only buy from your local music retailer. On line Chinese fakes,Ebay. Believe me,its worth it to pay full price.

Hi! is there a difference in the sound of the original shure SM7B produced in China and the Mexican one released in the same year?

I know for my current real one the cardboard the mic sits in is brown and doesn’t have a shure logo, there is no trademark logo on the back plate (the one mounted and the one without the holes, and all of the thumb screws are metal.

I have 2 SM7B's. As soon as I saw your box I knew how the video would end.

Is there a hyphen between the words “warm” and “delivers” on the front? Do the words “superior” and “for” run together on the back of the box? That a sure way of knowing before the box is even opened.

Don't buy fakes, no matter how good it is!

Something I've noticed with the fakes, is the seal is never (as far as I've seen) in Hiragana. Looking at an unboxing video of even this old box design, they all have Japanese and English, not Spanish and English.

Thanks for your experience. I'm going through the same right now. Bought a open-box SM7B from eBay with location Switzerland. So I assumed It was a good deal. After I placed the order I rechecked everything and I noticed that the description changed slightly and they removed the word Shure on it. So I've starting to investigate and I saw that the traking number and the retailer was from China. I contacted them asking for any proof of authenticity and the original country of the product, they replied saying that the mic comes from Hong Kong but it's located in Switzerland. I'm still waiting for the shipment but I'm 99% Shure (lol, sorry I couldn't resist) that it's a fake. I've already written to the customer service saying that I suspect for all these reasons that it could be a counterfeit and they assure that I can get all my money back if this is true. My problem was "How can I demonstrate that it's a counterfeit?" But now I know that I can write quickly to Shure and there is no need to send them my mic and spend more money. Big thanks, you made my day!

We are here with the same thing. Bought from a shop as a second hand but came from China But the thing is it’s sounds so good that we still want to believe that it’s real 🤣
