Mr recommendation re boots is to buy them second hand. In fact, buy everything except your helmet second hand. There are plenty of bargains out there from people who thought they wanted to ride dirt bikes but realized they didn’t after a short time. It can be tricky finding boots in your size, but if you look around you will find them and you’ll save your money for more adventures. You can then upgrade when you know what you really want / like, and even sell your old gear to recover some of the costs. Happy trails 😎 Happy trails.
I sold my 700GS and replaced it with an 800GS. I initially jumped on the bandwagon and purchased a Tenere 700, hoping for a significant improvement, but it didn't offer enough advantages over the 800GS to justify the additional cost. In some aspects, it was even worse, so I decided to sell the T7 and stick with the 800GS. It's an 11-year-old bike with a lower center of gravity and lighter weight compared to most modern ADV bikes. Just add fuel, oil, filters, and go - nothing ever goes wrong!
Regarding the floor: Trent Palmer just finished up his fancy hanger and he went with polishing the floor with a sealer. He considered epoxy but if it gets pranged and you patch it - it looks patched. With polishing it can easily be made to look as good as the rest of the floor. He rented the equipment and had an experienced buddy help him out. So, tossing that out as an option to look into. Not sure if one could dye the sealer to add colour, otherwise you're looking at the natural colour of the concrete as your only option (which is not a bad option....).
HEAVY is great for long distance in wind.... you can always add weight.... putting a 750 pound bike on a diet is a new frame... or just buy a light bike or two and pack on the luggage one person per bike "SHE" can ride her own bike OR stay at home Helmet : take the bloody "PEAK" / mud flap off until you are expecting mud n sand in your face... hurricane force winds are VERY rough when you have sails fully deployed
Thanks for taking the time to include an answer to my question. I asked it because I was looking to buy an f700gs and did. Your video was very helpful. First bike in over 20years hiatus. A great bike to reacquaint myself to riding 👌 👍thank you 🙏
We thru hiked the Appalachian trail in 2021. Had all the light weight camping equipment and solid camp chore skills. We just did the continental divide on our bikes. I enjoy riding more than walking.
Another good video. My rally kit from Australia is almost here for my klx300. I ride my mountain bike and do BJJ for make sure I’m in shape enough to ride my motorcycle. BJJ really helps teach you how to land too.
Fox Comps, get the cheapest one available. Remarkably very comfortable if you have a wide foot. I tried the tech 7s and had a rough time. Surprisingly my favourite is my cheapest.
I recently finished a garage build too. The cost is very high now. I did a clear seal amd have video of it. The good thing its easy to patch repair too.
I fight fatigue after riding a few hours , weather it’s off road or on road , part of the brain 🧠 injury I received after a series motorcycle accident 3 years ago . I just tend to lose some focus after “ well riding aggressively “ 😂😂😂. But I believe it also helps with improving my focus as well .” A double edged sword ⚔️ “
To tie two answers together, I would note that riding in sand, keeping weight back, clamping with knees, keeping front light sounds simple, but it is not easy for any length of time. Also, keeping that position when slowing is also tiring. Training the core and legs is required for most mortals.
1:33 Solid Calls a 250's & a 690 small dual sport bikes . Me : 250's OK , but 690 ??, A small dual sport bike , what did I just miss in last few weeks ??🤨🤔🤔🤔
Hey Solid, I'm surprised you don't talk about Gaerne boots. Their MX boots are fantastic! But, I'd like to know which MX boot in your opinion is the most comfortable, at the same time as providing full protection and stiffness!
Yes understood, but the quality justifies the price for many riders and I certainly think so. It is maybe THE most important safety article for an off road rider and if you spend 20k on a bike, 500 for a pair of boots is lost over the life of a bike.
