I'm recapping everything I sewed in 2022 and what I have in store for this year. Last year I completed some big projects but did I achieve my goal of sewing my stash and not buying new costuming fabric? What major projects do I have lined up for this year?

Dear Dixie, snarky is by far NOT my favorite personality trait to watch on youtube (or real life for that matter). What you are is funny and warm and skilled and I'm happy to see you post every time!

Wonderful projects in 2022! 2023 looks fun! I understand about RU-vid channel expectations and want you to know I appreciate the focus on the project in your videos and recommend you often.

Your channel has been one of my favorites ever since I discovered RU-vid in early 2020. Your videos are always interesting and calming. It’s also amusing to every now and then see a tiny hand reaching up from the bottom of the screen to try to grab some thing you are sewing. I’m sorry you’ve had a rough time the last few months. I don’t know what “hot takes” means, but I know that I generally don’t like snarky. I like the way you do things.

I decided to get back into sewing after years. It's going to be a challenge because I lost the curvature to my lumber. We are still trying to figure out the cause, but sewing makes me happy, and I need happiness in my life.

I love that you are in the RU-vid universe just making your things! It is on my list to finally dive in to the 18th century this year too. I have all of the fabric, trims and patterns. I'm just scared. I' hope to start with the stays at the end of February.

I love your channel, really because it's about the projects and you and not "snarkey." You're one of the core of the costubers, I look forward to all that silk! (Actually I hate silk, I'm a linen nut.) :D

You' are by far and away my favorite historical costumer on RU-vid! Everything you made in 2022 was absolutely fabulous - especially that beautiful 1790's open robe. Simply perfect! I'm not really the world's biggest fan of the robe a la francaise but the silk you are going to use is lovely and It will be interesting to see you sew all of the accessories and the gown itself. Best of luck with all of your 2023 projects! 🥰

Aww thank you 😊 I haven’t always loved the francaise but when I found that fabric I knew it was meant to be. It’ll be a big undertaking, for sure.

I look forward to anything and everything you can share with us. Yep I think you are complete with the regency era. Time to pick a new direction. Liking the Edwardian era plans and the repurposing of an old gown. Love the white on white embroidery you are currently doing. Its going to be fabulous once its done and made into the shirt waist. Hope you are better soon. Take it easy as possible. No rush. We'll be here when ever you post. Is your blog still up?

Thanks! No, I pulled the blog down. I still own the domain but when I moved the blog to a new hosting service last year I had some issues with the transfer. That cemented my feelings about retiring the blog. It was too much effort for something I had rarely updated in the past five years.

I'm so, so sorry you lost family. It's never easy. Neither are health issues. I hope everything is resolved for you. As far as I'm concerned, time is still on wibbly-wobbly-time-y-whine-y. It makes perfect sense to me to put a year in review video out around now. The sewing plans sound great. And reasonable. Not overbooking yourself and leaving space for a 'last minute' three month project sounds like the height of self care. Don't let the algorithms push you around - they're just fancified math after all. And too much of Cos Tube is going through burn-out of some kind or another. Nuts to that... Right now I'm on the time crunch of trying to finish a 1950's weskit for the FR competition (deadline is the 22nd). The title is going to be "Rideau River, Strathcona Park, Ottawa, August" (I know, needs some work - but it's my favorite in-city fishing spot and the theme is nature...). Which is my excuse to hand quilt/soft-sculpture various species of fish into the fabric. Then all I have to do is machine stitch all the water formations around them. I'm using the Tristan Quilt (oldest known quilt in existence... because I am a nerd, and the husband has one of his MA's in Old English) at the V&A as my inspiration point. Beyond that my only plan for the year is to work through some of the vintage patterns I accumulated over '22 to make my new wardrobe. So I finally get to work through my stash? I dunno. We'll see. I've got some health stuff to work through myself. Aging isn't for sissies (as the magnet in my bathroom says). Meh. And I wouldn't discount the idea that you might blow-up as a channel at some point. You never know what's going to happen, right. You make really clear how-to's; don't underestimate that skill, Kiddo. Take care. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi

@@robintheparttimesewer6798 Hey Robin. Yeah, my system was glitching last night. Who knows why. Meh. Technology. Yeah, we're as cold as everything. Got another seed bell for the balcony sparrows last night - which is the closest I've been to outside yet. Yish. The local CTV news-reader was at hilarious levels of 'dramatic' over the frostbite warnings. Puns were simply awful... The O-trains are still running. Which is... suspect, given past performances in the cold. As for plans - kind-a sounds like you have some. Don't forget to throw in one or two for yourself while you're doing work for grand-kiddo and fam, yes? Hope Catbug The Magnificent is doing good.

Love your work. Everything is beautiful. I'm looking for a pattern for my idea of a modern version of English country everyday dress with a V neck, natural waist, A -line, full skirt, maxi length with either long or 3/4 length sleeves, made with a small floral pattern cotton fabric. Do you know if such a thing exists? 👗 I have seen examples on-line but they are of poor quality fabrics and are poorly constructed. I believe I may need to pull a couple of patterns together to create what I am after. Thanks for sharing your wonderful videos. 💞
