I only found Tim Keller's teachings recently and can't stop watching everything he's part of. This is exactly what I need! Not a feel-good-washed-down-gospel throughout that seems to glorify and celebrate the preacher more than the message. God bless these great men! Lots of love and appreciation from South Africa.

I don't understand how you can handle such truths without being literally knocked out by the power of Christ displayed in the very things they are saying. I'm encouraged. And a little spooked. Calvanist's acting confused? The great John Piper who has written so many books (not familiar with the other 2) teaching me what now I think? There is prophesy and then the mystery not revealed until Paul how are they not getting it? The Kingdom will surely come, but now there is grace for whosoever will believe, but that doesn't sell books and all the rest that goes with it.

+stacy2146 Piper Their conversation seems confused about the meaning of Jesus and the Kingdom vs being saved by Grace. They ignore the most wonderful message of all, the gospel of Paul. No where will you read that the 11 warned to preach no other message than their own. But Paul did. He said let them be cursed who preach anther gospel than the one Christ gave to him exclusively. The main thing in life is to believe that Christ died for you sins. No works, memberships or fees; A FREE GIFT. Romans 10:9-13. Anyway, I am no liberal but these guys pretty much exist in my mind as very fine people who sell books. I am not saying they are not Christians, but this video has the feel a theologian love hug. Birch Meadow Thank you for that explanation Brother. I will be taking your advice & looking into that book by Stam. The reason I watch THIS video is... I live next door to "Jehovah's witnesses" and all JWs will tell you that the good news is: "the future kingdom to come (paradise earth with Jehovah as ruler)". When I tell them what 1 Cor 15 says ... they nod "yes", then tell me that they are commissioned to preach Jesus' words. I have been a Christian (born-again) for 10 years... I moved in next door to this JW family 9 years ago.... I have been trying to witness to them all this time. Shalom :-)

I believe JW are a direct result of failure to let the bible interpret itself, and let it say what its says, when it was said and to WHOM it was said to. Same with denominations. I don't believe all denominations are cults like JW but if one has awareness of their desperate need for God they can be a source of confusion. I speak from experience. During my life I've been a member of a S baptist church, a Lutheran, a mega faith charismatic, the Vineyard, indep baptist, and started life a Methodist because of my parents. As another has said all of the bible is for us, but not all spoken to us directly. So simple really. We have our apostle Paul (Romans-Philemon) and his gospel. I was in a fellowship with five friends and we would discuss scripture in this same way. I've never seen them again after high school and it breaks my heart.
As a minister I finally realized that I can not fix or change anyone but myself and that takes letting go and letting God love in and through me. In fact a Jewish Rabbi said 2000 years ago that one should work on getting the plank of his own eye so he can see clearly to get the speck out of his brothers eye. Since I've been whittling away at the plank in my eye the speck that loomed so large in my brother's eye has suddenly disappeared. When I let go and let God love in and through me others change right before me sometimes in a moment and in a twinkling of an eye as I change. Jesus' real life and in real time and in living color teachings are so very powerful! The King Jame version has Jesus saying "the kingdom of heaven is within you." Paul puts more succinctly saying "Christ in you the hope of glory." My prayer is that Christian's can see like Jesus taught that life is lived from the inside out and we do not see things as they are we see them as we are. The very confronting statement that Jesus made was "you will know them by their fruits." He did not say you will know them by their doctrines. Blessing to all and keep up the good and Godly work! :)
There was/is no “Paul’s religion” therefore no “origin.” Paul didn’t “create” a different gospel, but he did not preach the same message Jesus did in His earthly ministry. Jesus’ earthly ministry message was only to Israel (Matthew 10:5-8). He came to proclaim himself as Israel’s Messiah and King ready to restore Israel’s kingdom (Matthew 16:16; Acts 1:6). Jesus as the risen Lord in glory revealed only to Paul His “fellowship of the mystery” which had been hid from the beginning of the world in God. He made Paul the apostle to the Gentiles and minister to take the Gospel of the Grace of God (l Corinthians 15:1-4) to the Gentiles because Israel had fallen (Ephesians 3:1-9).
@Greg LeJacques Why do human words need to describe God? There are some good scriptural verses that do describe God. I don’t understand the question in light of Leviticus 25 because this law giving chapter has nothing to do with me.

Sorry, that is not the gospel that Paul preached. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) John 3:16 says not one word about the death, burial, or resurrection (DBR) of Jesus. As for John chapters 6 & 10, neither chapter addresses the DBR of Jesus for salvation. Yes, Jesus is the Bread of Life, but that says nothing about having faith in His DBR>
Galatians 1:11-12 Paul says the gospel he preached he did not receive from men, nor was he taught it but he received it from the Lord himself, so it must have been a different gospel that no man had heard before not revealed to no one else prior to Paul.
I disagree, Andrew. It is true that Paul received the Gospel by revelation of Jesus Christ. However, the point he was making is that the Gospel he received was true and what the Galatians were being told, by false teachers, was incorrect. His intention was not to suggest that he was the only one who knew the true Gospel. In fact, Paul goes on to say in Galatians 2:1-10, that he explained his revelation to the other Apostles of the Lamb, and they gave him the “right hand of fellowship”. This means that Paul was preaching the same Gospel as the other apostles.
@@NorthTexas in that scripture you mentioned you can see that there are 2 gospels there, one of the circumcision and the other of the uncircumcision. Peter was used to preaching a gospel mixed with the law, works and even baptism and repentance; Paul to the gentiles preached salvation by faith alone apart from works.
@@nitochi3 I agree, Andre. Paul's letters are the message for today. It was a mystery hid in God, but now revealed. In so many places it contradicts Jesus' words in matthew, Mark Luke and John. Paul writes the message of the resurrected Jesus.

I can't find the phrase, "Goat of departure" in the Bible. However, Jesus became a goat on the cross when He bore all the sin of the world. He was nailed to the cross as a sheep w/o blemish and while on the cross, He became a goat, taking on the sin of the world. Read Exodus chapter 12 and you will see the Passover sacrifice could be taken from the sheep or the goats, not just the sheep. Each year at the Day of Atonement, it was a goat that was used to represent Jesus' sacrifice. Hope this helped.
It's also called scapegoat. according to Lev 16. we have sin offering goat and goat of escape or scapegoat Christ must be both goats to accomplish total forgiveness of sins. He became our sin offering on the cross. But nothing was mentioned of him being the goat of departure according to lev 16.

It’s not as if Paul’s and Christ’s Gospels are two different entities. Hebrews 2:5 says, “how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard.” The Gospel was preached by God Himself, and then attested by Paul and many, many others since. Paul made it a systematic theology of the words of Christ, of the testimony of the written and incarnate Word of the Gospel. May we never cease to adore.

In the gospel of mathew mark luke and John is the term "has eternal life" point to the ressurection? So that those who believe are really believing on the death, burial, and ressurection. Does ressurection mean life? Life in His Son. So that He who has the Son has life. He who does not have the Son does not have life. So reread He who has the Sons death, burial, and ressurected life has life?
there is no conflict the message is the Good news of all that the Kingdom entails and repentance Jesus came to turn back man to God. Now and for ever. it behooves us to learn about Kingdoms and especially God's Kingdom.
Did they not all miss the entire question? Mat 4:23 "And Jesus went all about Galilee teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel fo the kingdom.." This is early in his ministry before he even began informing his closest disciples about his pending death after feeding the thousands (Mat 16:13). So the question is still asked, what was Jesus preaching to the people if it wasn't a message alluding specifically to his death and resurrection?

Sorry I may have misinterpreted your statement that Jesus is currently reigning. The disciples expected him to physically rule from David's throne in Jerusalem. This was expected by them and the OT prophets... He has not yet "come back the same way" as verse 11 below says, so cannot possibly be reigning at present. He will someday though, at the parousia. With respect, what we are to do is understand Jesus' parables of using our God given talents while he is away and earnestly prepare for His return. 1 Cor 6:2. I believe we are called to be in 'management training' for this worldwide kingdom...in the Father's business while the master is delaying. This is a hard ask, just like Jesus said it would be (Mark 10). Our Christ is certainly among us, by the Spirit He sent and promised us would help in our work and training. Dr. Luke says in Acts 1:6 "So when they came together, they asked Him, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7Jesus replied, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by His own authority. 8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” 9After He had said this, they watched as He was taken up, and a cloud hid Him from their sight. 10They were looking intently into the sky as He was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11“Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? I see in the NT it is the gospel of heaven (Matt), the gospel of God (Mark), the gospel of the kingdom (Luke), and the gospel of grace (Acts). Sounds to me like these are all the same thing. At the 7th trumpet who will raise the "Under New Management" sign with the immortalised saints? Dan 12:1-3...That would be Jesus the Christ, our Messiah!

God the Father has A Kingdom in Heaven. God wants his glory reflected here on Earth. As it is in Heaven. The Kingdom of God is growing Jesus will come and put an end to any other Kingdom functioning on earth right now. that is good news.
I think the old and the new were overlapping at the time of Jesus. And, I think we do not get the full Gospel message until Paul. Some people follow only Jesus' teachings and have no clue what the Gospel is!
Then the apostle Paul was a work of the devil because that is what he taught! It seems very clear that the dispensation of the Gospel came through the preaching of Paul, unless he was a liar.

When did Christ work on the cross become the center of the Gospel because it was never anything that he preached. When did Christ become the center of the Gospel because that isn't something that he preached. The issue with this is the fundamental problem that we face in Christianity today; it is more centered around Paul that Christ. How could there be a divide regarding the Kingdom of the Gospel. Fact is, most denominations splinter based on the teaching of Paul.....
Jesus reminded the Jews of the scrolls. of the prophets and the disciples peached the gospel! 2 cor 11:4 For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.
So you presuppose these texts as true and try to reconcile them? You're right you're working backwards to achieve the dogma you already concluded to reinforce your rhetorical.
the Apostles did not preach John 3:16 they preached the Kingdom and repentance. The Gospel of John is mostly addressed to believers. it is a verse that is understandable to believers. Non believers will often rend this verse.
Notice that none of the three men can give a direct answer and show you the actual verses where Jesus or anyone else preaches the same gospel that Paul preaches, which is in1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (believing in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus). They are struggling to answer the question, and they are struggling because the gospel that Paul preaches is not in Matthew, Mark. Luke or John. If the gospel that Paul preaches is not in MMLJ, then it's time to reevaluate and see why it is not there.
It's not there because it was a mystery hid in God until he revealed it to Paul (rom 16:25-26, 1cor. 2:7-8, eph. 3:1-9, etc.) You will not find such teaching outside of Paul because Paul claimed Christ himself taught him this gospel (gal. 1-2), not Peter nor the 12. In the whole of the old testament, you can see God using the law to judge people (mainly Jews who were under it). Those that kept the law, God called righteous, those that didn't, God call sinners worthy of judgement. Jesus taught the same thing in his earthly ministry, especially the heart of the law (read mat. 5), looking indecently at a woman=adultery, angry at your bro without reason = murder, etc. Jesus preached both faith in his name as the Son of God and keeping the law (mat. 19:16-30, 23:2-3). He was preaching the gospel of the kingdom and Jesus required faith and water baptism to be saved. Jesus's main audience was Jews not gentiles (mat. 10:5-6, 15:24, rom. 15:8). He wanted to make them (Israel), a nation above the nations, a kingdom of priests, to fulfill that convenant God made with their fathers at exodus (19:5-6). Look at Jeremaiah 31:31-34, look at ezekiel 36 or 37. God promised to give them his Spirit to cause them to keep his laws (since they failed woefully as a nation to keep it). Read acts 2, Peter by the Spirit says the same thing was to fulfiled as the prophet Joel talked about. At that time, that promise was working in them. All Israel had to do was accept Christ as a nation and God would have made them a nation above the nations, after that then they can preach to gentiles. But Israel kept rejecting Christ, the final straw was the stoning of Stephen at acts 7. God should have started judgement there but in his mercy he saved his enemy (Paul) who was killing his people. Jesus gave Paul a gospel/mystery to preach to gentiles since Israel rejected him. If you read romans (please use a KJV), read it slowing. Notice what rom. 3:21 says, "BUT NOW, the righteousness of God WITHOUT THE LAW is made manifest..." Jesus did not preach this one bit in matt, mark, luke and John. I just finished studying matthew today and damn, Jesus didn't teach such in his earthly ministry. There's a lot to say, way too much to put in a single RU-vid comment. All I can say is that whatever God is doing TODAY is found in Paul's epistles not in other books of the bible (though they can be used for our learning). Today, God is freely justifying sinners/ungodly (Jews and Gentiles, no difference today, though there was a difference in the past) who trust that Christ, God's Son died for their sins, his blood paid for sins and he was risen for our justification. Faith in that without any works of our own, then God justifies us and give us free salvation.

I see it this way right now: Jesus IS the Gospel (the Good News). Jesus is presented as a literal historical figure in the 4 Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John). The rest of the letters, mainly Pauline letters, are a THEOLOGICAL outworking of Jesus Himself, the Christ. Jesus Christ was foundational to Paul's thinking (to live is Christ, to die is gain, etc). Paul was literally set free spiritually by Jesus on the road to Damscus, so that was ALL Paul could really think about, ie, Christ, again, was central to Paul's mind ('We have the 'Mind of Christ', etc). Paul did not, and this was not his calling, just repeat Jesus' words and teachings, although he did echo them, Paul's calling was to the Gentiles and Paul really wanted these new converts (who had no idea of Torah or a 'Messiah' that was embedded implicitly in the OT) to come to know all what the Messiah Jesus had done for them spiritually (paying for their sins, etc). To me ALL of the writers of the New Testament had a 'Gospel' of their own, but they are like varying threads that form the whole integrated cloth in the end. Or perhaps a better analogy would be like a diamond: The Gospel that saves is a diamond with many facets. For me, I accept Paul because the earliest church did and the apostle did (they gave him the 'hand of fellowship') and I trust them to know a fraud. So I also have come to trust that Paul was taught by Christ after Christ appeared to Paul on the road to Damascus. Only God/Jesus can transform a once hateful man who persecuted Christians into a man who then not only loves them but suffers for them but even better he preaches Christ Jesus and even writes 1 Corinthians 13, the love chapter, and Philippians 4:8. Even Peter wrote this about Paul in 2 Peter 3: 15 Consider also that our Lord’s patience brings salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom God gave him. 16 He writes this way in all his letters, speaking in them about such matters. Some parts of his letters are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort,g as they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
Another thing that has occurred to me recently as I read the Bible is that every book was written through a human being who has their own personality. So when I read Paul's letters, it is better that I enter into the man's mind as it were and read it through his eyes as well. Paul's mind was that of a Pharisee of the Pharisees, a Jew of Jews, a Roman citizen who also had deep knowledge of the Torah and Greek and Roman cultural ideas of that day. I also keep in mind Paul's 'conversion' experience as well and he having from then on a transformed life devoted to Jesus Christ as Messiah. So, when I read Paul's letters, I immediately try to understand this man's mind as best I can and then try to also work through his theological understandings of Jesus Christ the Messiah and the work that Jesus did. This helps me get to the truth faster but I also then appreciate why Jesus teaches things and Paul teaches things and also why James says certain things along with John in his letters too. I try to see things from each of these men's perspectives but I also try to understand the company they also kept as well whether it be with Jesus or with other disciples. His sermons are a reinterpretation of the law as God sees it. The humility of Jesus is amazing. He leaves the preaching of His gospel, the greatest proclamation in the history of man, to His Apostles.

Though denominations differ on petty details they are in harmony about the impracticability of the Sermon on the Mountain. Jesus invites individuals, not Church nor any establishment, to follow Him bearing one's own cross. If I find the invitation attractive, the onus is on me to bear my cross and follow Him from this moment on. Bearing one's own cross simply means to take the decision in favour of the weak neighbour (decision to serve little neighbour as King God). Now and here, at hand, is the Kingdom of God. Jesus invites each individual to create a node of one's own Kingdom of God around oneself, where the least in the environment is treated as King God. As long as the least in the neighborhood remains neglected, the Kingdom of God is willingly avoided by the individual. It's futile to wait for the Kingdom of God after the death neglecting the Kingdom of God at hand. The "Kingdom of God" which is at hand, as envisioned by Jesus is to be created willingly by bearing one's own cross. The cross of treating the little one in the neighborhood as King God. Anyone who wishes to follow Him, needs to take decisions in favour of the little one in the neighborhood , "Right here right now".. every moment of life. Indeed a cross, not as easy as following the mindless rituals prescribed by any religion. Jesus' invitation is to bear own cross to create the "Kingdom of God" at hand. It's like using a law to justify your actions and then ridding the law after you conveniently justified it for you actions. If you understand this, then you'll get it. Modern day Christians have a lot to reconcile. Sure it all comes down to what you want to believe but sometimes a blind faith can lead to a blind road to hell. Yeshua is the truth the way and the life. Period. Not Paul.
No... the gospel is you have an ultimate and once and for all sacrifice, and eternal life through His resurrection... You are now under the law of Christ... to love...
These men are fools. The fact that people are dividing Paulonian and Yeshua is in itself an issue. You can either beleive Yeshua or Paul. Yeshua is the only Son of God. The biggest problem is that Yeshua's words are analyzed vs followed. Some of his teachings are taught as metaphors and some as gospel. It is not coincidence that these men all quote from the book of Luke who was a traveling companion to Paul thats why the two books are more in line with eachother. The books are mostly hearsay. The Nag Hammadi Library includes authors who actually walked with Yeshua yet "scholars" or rather "Christian scholars" discredit the Library even though it was kept untouched and uncorrupted for thousands of years unlike our Nicean Bible.
Reading the book backwards always leads to error. If you read the book forward, you will see that Noah, Moses, the Prophets, Messiah and Paul all had the exact same message. And it isn't the message that these wolves are herding you into!
When I first came to Christ I believed every thing pastors taught me but when grew and study scripture then language Greek Hebrew words in CONTEXTin I see Alot wrong with church doctrine what Jesus John James taught is different then Paul Jesus taught if you love me keep my commandments Jesus says the commandments lead to LIFE in the last chapters of Revelation That agrees with God in the old testament Paul says the law is death he even goes so far to say it you try to obey law Jesus can't save you? Paul in 1Corinthians 8 says we can eat meat sacrificed to idol's! That is braking a commandment Jesus says NO in revelation 2 to a church so don't give me separation of jew and Gentle everyone who follow Jesus obey the 10 commandments there is no dispensation of grace or church age! Adam and eve had grace Moses had grace king David had grace Take this logic Paul taught obey the law that God wrote and said multiple times leads to life! Paul says leads to death and not being saved. (That's not grace) Please think able it?
@@MC-sn2so Amen... and thank you. The message Christ preached is the same one Ezekiel preached. Neither one said anything about "believing" that someone paid for your sins would somehow take you to heaven. Paul preached the exact same thing too, but convincing people of that is difficult because preachers like those above add so many words to Paul's written text that everyone just assumes he said things he never said. @@capn_shawn But Paul's message wasn't the same. Christ and Ezekiel preached only to the covenant people of God, heirs to the promises. He never preached a salvation message to gentiles. Only Israel could accept the Messiah and usher in the Kingdom through repentance of sins, following the law, being baptised for the repentance of sins and believing Jesus Christ was the Messiah.After Christ's death Peter preached that message too Acts 2:36-38 - Peter @ Pentecost Acts 3:11-21 - Peter @ Solomons Portico You said you read the bible forward yeh. In Acts 10 the manner in which Jesus Christ engaged with man and the message her shared changed. He made it available to the gentiles. In Acts 10:34-48 You have the first and only evidence in scripture of the Gospel (of the Kingdom) being shared to a gentile under specific instruction by God to Peter. In acts 11 .. The apostles and Peter hear that the gentiles are coming to Christ they don't know how. It wasn't from the ministry of the 12 because they were "speaking the word to no one except Jews" Acts 11:19 Peter and the church discover that the gentiles are being converted by other gentiles by the "Grace of Christ"... They send Barnabus to find their teacher .. Paul. In Acts 15 Paul Travels to Jerusalem as instructed by God to confront James, Peter etc , for they are telling the gentile converts to be circumcised and place themselves under the law and become proselytes and thats NOT what Paul was teaching them. Galatians 2:2-3 "I went up because of a revelation and set before them (though privately before those who seemed influential) the gospel that I proclaim among the Gentiles, in order to make sure I was not running or had not run in vain." He had to explain the Gospel that he preached to the gentiles to the Jewish Church, the gospel of the grace of Christ because they didn't know it. It hadn't been revealed to them. Pauls Gospel was a mystery/secret .It was not made known to the sons of men in any generations (Ephesians 3:3-11) and kept secret since the world began until it was revealed to Paul (Romans 16:25-27) At the end of the council Peter made this statement.. “But we believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they will.” - Acts 15:11
Jesus could not preach His own future death, for the sins of the whole world... we know why... He announced His death near the end... The new testament says why... So... Jesus preached what He could preach... It was a matter of espionage like CIA, MI6... Jesus could not widely announce His future sacrifice for a ransom for all because... 1Co 2:8b ......for if they had understood it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;
New Covenant Whole Gospel: Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him. Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis? Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart. Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! The gospel is the GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM! Jesus is going to return and set up the kingdom of God ON THE EARTH! God’s government ON THE EARTH! God resurrected the Messiah! The Messiah will resurrect his people! The destiny of the Messiah and his people is to be ON THE EARTH! The renewed restored earth! God also dwelling with them! Rev 21 Jesus said the Father is the only true God! John 17 3 And this is eternal life, that they know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.
Jesus did not preach THE GOSPEL. The Gospel is given in 1. Corinthians 15, 3-8. It is: 1. Christ died. 2. Christ was buried. 3. Christ was risen. 4. Christ was seen. Christ established the NEW COVENENT by His death. However, as long as Christ was alive He could not say I am buried, I am risen, I a seen.
@@endtimesareuponus8930 When Jesus was on earth He preached to the Jews. Jesus preached the kingdom. Jesus did not preach to Gentiles. It is only His chosen apostle Paul who preached the Gospel of Christ to Gentiles. Paul got this Gospel by revelation. Paul preached Christ and the Body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12-13: For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit were we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. If you are not baptism by this Spirit you do not belong to His Body.
