Of coarse Layne played guitar, he wasn’t on the level of Jerry but he wrote very powerful jams and riffs. “Headcreeps” is probably the heaviest complex song he wrote on the guitar. It would have been a killer song to hear them play live. RIP Layne man you are missed

I can see why people would question this. Layne played guitar in that awkward why new players do and his mixes were always a little low. He also played with those thick gloves which would make playing guitar a little weird.

According to Tom, Layne had already played the riff of Angry Chair before Tom "taught" him anything.

You can see Layne in live videos on stage that he played, and one time while onstage he joked to the audience how the 'other guys' (in the band) 'thought' he can 'do this' now - which was play the guitar. He'd play angry chair and hate to feel.

Angry Chair has some open chord style playing, he’s really playing the guitar. It’s one of my favorite AIC songs. He was a phenomenal singer/songwriter.

Yes he did... But he just played rythm guitar.. Morello wasn't a teacher so to speak but he helped him learn. But he played.
