Power Rangers has been adapting Super Sentai for over 30 years, but how much is an adaptation vs straight stealing? In this video, I'm comparing the first episodes of "POWER RANGERS: NINJA STORM" and "NINPU SENTAI HURRICANEGER" to see what's the same and what's different!
Ninja Storm was my FAVORITE season of Power Rangers growing up. I LOVED the Thunder Rangers' story and having the yellow ranger be a guy and the blue ranger be a girl was SO aweseome to me. As I'm taking more interest in Super Sentai, I thought I'd check out the 2002 show that was adapted INTO Ninja Storm, Ninpu Sentai Hurricaneger! Let me know your thoughts below!

Yes in fact most Power rangers seasons borrow very heavily and in some cases straight up copy their sentai counterparts for instance time force and wild force come to mind for me

I said this on somebody else's channel, but I feel like this season intentionally tried to capture the energy of the '90s TMNT cartoon, with Shane being Leonardo, Hunter being Rafael, Tori being April, Dustin being Michelangelo, Cam being Donatello, and Blake being Casey Jones. And of course guinea pig sensei fits in it despite being also in the Japanese version, and the nieces are reminiscent of Bebop and Rocksteady. Once you take a look at the characters and their dynamics with each other you can't unsee it.

@@nadimls3672 That’s…That’s Johnathan Tzachor season tho. MMPR is very different Zyuranger. Zeo is very different from Ohranger. And In Space is difference from Megaranger.

From what little I’ve seen of Hurricaneger so far it & Ninja Storm still have a hefty amount of differences. It looks like the villains work a lot differently in both. And Ninja Storm tries mimicking the cool 90s teen vibes with the Rangers. Their basically sharing similar character dynamics that shows like TMNT have. I’ve heard the copying is more blatant in seasons like Samurai.

So yeah watching sentai I've noticed a bunch of stuff post in space were just adaptation of the sentai with creative libraries. Sometimes this is actually catastrophic like with mystic force and samurai.

I think it's not a bad thing to copy from Sentai, as long as they're good, for example like Time Force, where it's a copy or maybe heavily inspired by Timeranger but still give it its own unique spin. On the other hand, copying from Sentai can be a bad thing if they're done wrong, like Samurai, nuff said

Ninja Storm does borrow a lot of elements from Hurricaneger, but the overall plot is very different.

I don't think they copied hurricanger, it's different enough and thats really all an adaptation has to do. They have the same basis like a lot of the older PR series but I feel like theyve earned their own spot in tokusatsu. Samurai though, thats just a straight up copy.

this was one of my first sentai seasons i had ever watched back in 2011, the show was almost 10 years at that point and they just had their crossover in gokaiger. It was such a fun an unique show to watch. The cast is super fun and goofy while the thunder rangers were more serious make both teams feel unique. Hope you enjoy the series and hopefully you love the anniversary films they did.

He actually does have one, but like someone said, in the series, he takes on different human forms (All of them being former Rangers from previous series) but they do explain in the show why Shurikenger doesnt have his own human form persay

i would argue that RPM is way more inspired by Go-Onger than being a copy of it. Except for the Zords and Suits, those two shows couldnt be more different from each other

Imagen that, this your OC and your own story. But they adopted your own creation, why you guys would feel, mad? After all this time and year what you guys have done to create suits, storyboard, your own money, action and everything you have done is nothing or get less money. But America get lot of money after they adopted your own creation. The reason why they do this is get quick rich and easy money. But you cannot call them stupid inform of they but you are the stupid. Make you own suits and action, lot of country they know this was biggest mistake to took from people hardworking for this perfect show. ( I know I'm saying many time of this and the same word either but I still made why America did and sorry my English not very well )

Japan doesn’t really care since they still get paid and even dub the American versions into Japanese. Super Sentai is more popular in that country though.

Yeah as the other guy said, they don't care and even dub power rangers into Japanese. They also license out Sentai to other countries under the power rangers name. So yeah it's not that deep.
