Would Terry Silver have kept Daniel LaRusso for a student in Karate Kid 3? Cobra Kai Co-Creator Hayden Schlossberg gives his thoughts on whether Terry Silver would have continued to train Daniel LaRusso. In Karate Kid 3, Terry Silver used the brutal Quick Silver method to train Daniel LaRusso.
Terry Silver was played by Thomas Ian Griffith, and Ralph Macchio played Daniel LaRusso in Karate Kid 3 and Cobra Kai.

I think on some level Terry liked Daniel and saw some potential in him. Terry saw that Daniel was hot headed and had a very reactive personality, and he saw that Daniel could have easily become the ideal Cobra Kai student under the right circumstances. I don't think he looked at him as a potential apprentice. I do think he recognized the possibilities with Daniel, though.

Right, and that's why Terry did tell Daniel he didn't want to admit that secretly liked it when Silver trained him, and that he's always had a bit of Cobra Kai in him when they ran into each-other during a quick confrontation in Season 4 too!

Bro what could he do? Miyagi didn't want to teach him karate for the tournament and Mike forced him to sign and fight him in the tournament. In plus he can't defeat him easily he needs extra training that's why he joined Terry in the first place in plus Daniel didn't knew that what Terry was thinking about.

I always thought that there were scenes between Daniel and Terry where Terry really enjoyed teaching Daniel. Maybe that was Thomas just enjoying working with Ralph, but who knows

Yeah, maybe Daniel was the student Terry missed out on in the beginning. I mean, Kreese had Johnny. Even though Terry wasn't in part 1, who did Terry have before?

Honestly I think because at the very beginning, Kreese mainly wanted the revenge on miyagi, and they knew that if they could get Daniel on their side (while putting him on pain), that miyagi would be the true loser of the whole rivalry

Silver did nothing wrong but be a good mentor, Daniel showed desire, and devotion and was willing to receive discipline by any means necessary. Silver not only brought out Daniel's aggression and strength but he also taught Daniel the Quick Silver method, which can only be learnt through PAIN!!!

Well terry taught danny legit moves he did train him to be more aggresive.he used the same moves to defeat silver in cobra kai season 5 finale.he did not just make him do some moves that would not work.

Great interview - and I get what he's saying - but no, Silver was setting Daniel up. Even if Daniel had continued training with him, Silver could probably see quite clearly that Daniel had, at his best, little chance against Barnes.

The topic of discussion in this video provides an important clue as to the perfect way to ultimately end the series Cobra Kai : ANTHONY LARUSSO BECOMES A KARATE STUDENT OF TERRY SILVER. Give everyone in the show their respective happy endings. Miyagi Do wins The Sekai Taikai. Robby or Miguel wins. Sam or Tory wins. Johnny marries Carmen and their baby is born. Kreese dies with redemption. Chozen and Kumiko get married. Daniel and Johnny fight for fun on the beach. Etc. But as the closing credits roll before the last graphics, the very last scene should be this unexpected final plot twist : Terry Silver's beach mansion where he is playing the piano again like at the start of season 4. His cellphone rings and he answers. The caller is Anthony LaRusso who wants to learn more about The Quick Silver Method from him. The last camera shot is Terry Silver's smiling face. THE END.

This right here what talent this Writer has,if he would have written the KK 3 I think it would have been more epic than what it was. I don’t think though any writer could make KK 2 or 3 & especially the Next Karate Kid as good as the first. That movie was a gem & masterpiece!

You know what's weird? Chozen from KK2 would be the perfect student for Terry Yes, Chozen is like the new Miyagi and fully redeemed, but he was a bad dude in kk2. Much worse than mike and Johnny, plus he did hate Daniel straight away because of honour I love having chozen fill the Miyagi role, but a dark chozen looking revenge could also have worked

The way to look at this is Darth Sidious is not above plotting against his own apprentice Darth Vader. I think if Daniel hadn’t said he wouldn’t be defending his title, Terry may not have revealed himself to him and just allowed the tournament to go as he planned. Had Daniel beaten Mike Barnes in that circumstance he would’ve gone oh that was unexpected 😳. He may have talked to Kreese and just said hey Kreese let me see what I can do with him and he would’ve tested a few more times but more to make him stronger

It was an interesting point; Terry was supposedly punishing Daniel but this appears to be advanced Cobra Kai training which actually does improve Daniel (at least in terms of power which is the point Terry makes in Cobra Kai). Always seemed a bit strange like Chozen’s scam with the fake weight that actually worked against him

Depending on what Kreeses’s account to Silver was at the start of KK3, it would make sense that Miyagi was the prime target for revenge. And what better way to get back at him than to turn Daniel over to Cobra Kai and break their bond

Bearing in mind we don’t know what account Kreese gave of his dealings with Miyagi and Daniel, so Silver himself may have been manipulated into thinking they had done far worse (as viewers we know it was Kreese’s fault, but that was never likely to come into his own account)

Many fans think it was wrong for Daniel to punch that guy at the night club, but the guy really deserved it. Silver was a good mentor for Daniel and a perfect balance for Miyagi’s teachings.

Agreed, but what if Terry did such a good job manipulating that Daniel never wanted to go back to Mr. Miyagi?
