Every character that gets released goes through this. People get annoyed because they just want to win and new characters inherently create effort to win again.
I remember at Low Tier City 7 I was talking to a Rivals player and he asked who I mained. I said Elliana and he looked me dead in the eyes and said, "People like you are the reason this game is dying." and walked away. Never saw him again.
Ah yes you are the reason the game is dying because you are playing the most difficult and respectable character who is usually considered above average, even if rivals was dying it would be because people are saying that stuff Edit: oops I was supposed to say this to twisted_logic
I'm surprised people are still on this mentality 2 years later. Y'all really need to learn the matchups 😭 Edit: Also yes every character is some sort of war criminal
I relate to this a lot. I'm a more casual player, and I don't really have anyone at my skill level I can consistently play with. If I go online I get comboed to infinity and beyond and can't play the game, so I just spend my time going up against level 9 cpus over and over, which isn't optimal. So it just leaves me with this weird feeling that this is an incredible game that feels so good to play, but like it isn't meant for someone like me.
players when gimmicked by game that is created to form gimmicks: ヘ(。□°)ヘ gimmicks, that we've all learnt at some point. we are just at a learning period again, otherwise we'd all die to kragg's uspecial. (just have fun, it's how i approach this game at least.)
Steam workshop, so user created characters, stages, skins and stuff like that. When i say the workshop 4, im talking about hodan, pomme, olympia, amd mollo. These 4 were not made by the rivals dev team but instead were original fan creations. The devs liked them so much they worked with the original creators to make them official base cast characters
I dont really like the workshop characters as much as the rest of the cast. I find them annoying to fight, but idt they’re a problem. They’re just not the type of characters I enjoy which is fine.
I'm just a casual player but 3 out of 4 of the workshop characters are some of my favorites in the game. Sorry Hodan, you're cool and I respect you, I just don't get you.
That kind of mentality is so dumb. No, nothing is "Killing the game." People are still playing it. There are questions of why it's not BIGGER, but that has to do more with the fact that the barrier to entry is really high since only competent or absurdly good platform fighter players can be found online. I've never found anyone I could simply crush, and I've been playing Smash since the first one came out, which makes me a scrub compared to everyone else playing this game, yet when I play Smash, it's hard to find friends to play with because I'm too good. So if anything is "Killing the game," it's just something the game devs simply cannot control: The playerbase. But again, nothing is killing the game. It's perfectly alive; it's just small.
rivals 2 was in production long before the ws4 were announced to be in the game. we even went through a phase where we were worried rivals was gonna get bloated with cheap workshop stuff and the competitive scene would go downhill back when workshop itself was a new thing, yet the competitive scene survived that just like it's still surviving now. admitting you don't play the game and that you're ignorant of everything doesn't excuse you from posting dumbass shit
not really. an example would be in garden warfare, the plasma pea is actually a fan suggestion, alot of community related content within a game is just about how its implemented
