It’s interesting to think that the Big E and Malcador played chess with the pieces as the legions. They both probably had so many day long conversations about what primarchs would be the biggest loss to the imperium if they fell. I reckon the Emperor decided on the ones he needed the most in the long term and let the others fall. Lorgar, Fulgrim, Mortarion, Curze, Angron, Perturabo & Horus were deemed less needed than the rest. Then again they couldn’t work out which would become the biggest pain in the ass. I reckon of them all, the emperor regrets losing Perturabo the most. He was as talented and forward thinking as anyone else and his legion is definitely the best for long term conflicts. The Nids wouldn’t stand a chance against a full legion under the command of Perturabo. If Perty and Dorn were both alive right now and both loyal, fuck being any other race taking on the imperium. Perturabo would set up entire planets that would be blown up completely as bait for enemies.

There is also in the book Horus Rising, the Xenos from the planet Murder, they are described to look very similar to Tyranids, maybe when the Xenos expanded around the galaxy before be isolated to Murder, the Tyranids meet them and devoured them and it cause the Tyranids to evolve to the similar form they are now because it is effective.

So the Emperor knew about tge Tyranids. Maybe that's why he allowed the Horus Heresy to happen. To harden his people and desensitize them from war and loss. Also Chaos doesn't like the Tyranids. Maybe daemon Primarchs will help.

I hear all this wild out there things going on and they never brought back The Thunder Warriors even when the Emperor is stuck on the throne. Dude- the Emperor IS the Hive Mind! The Emperor fought Oroborus as a test of his creation. He controls the Kids from the Golden Throne as an existential threat to unity mankind and force xenos like the Eldar and Tau to forge alliances with the Imperium to survive. The Nids can't be corrupted by Chaos and I bet the Emperor will bring them all the way to the Terra system- which will get all of Chaos involved so they aren't robbed of their chance to wipe out the Imperium. Once Chaos is fully in the material universe, the Emperor will turn the beasts fully to fighting and eliminating Chaos once and for all- then sending the entirety of the hive into Chaos to destroy all the Chaos Gods while he uses the Golden Throne and the last of his life force to seal the rift and chaos forever.
