I agree. I liked the clunky, old tech look to the UI. It was very charming IMO. To me, the updated UI is taking the same UI look as so many other games and they’re moving further and further away from that type of style they had. To me the original style was, original, and the new one is nice but done over and over again. It doesn’t give me “Jorvik” either. I get updating and I think updating and improving is great and incredibly important, but I have to admit that I much preferred the old style of UI & graphics (not talking about the landscape graphics, but the drawn art style, etc- the art style just had something to it, and of course the nostalgia too). I actually quite like the look to the NPCs, but I do really miss the overall old art style the game carried- I’m struggling to explain this, think of the actual drawings Starshine Legacy had, I loved it. I love the updated NPCs, but I want that drawn art style back on top of it. Keep the updated NPCs, but bring the old graphic art style back & refine it (not happening lol). I think the new artist has beautiful art, but I’m very clung on to the nostalgic factor as well. There was just something about the art that I really liked- it felt homey! I genuinely felt I was being brought into the game and incapsulated in it. Don’t know if that’s the right word lol. While I think the game looks nice in a lot of ways, the updated characters (as beautiful as they are) to me don’t even represent the original characters, even if they’ve grown. The new Mrs. Holdsworth is beautiful, but doesn’t remind me of Mrs. Holdsworth at all. I don’t think any of this made sense, but I’m posting it anyways lol
@@bearlyplaying Entirely agree. I own the original SSL games and played them to exhaustion as a kid. Totally get that nostalgia factor. I'm also passionate about character design; the SSL character designs and art style were PERFECTION. You can tell there was thought and care put into them and I believe it's because they had a better grasp on what this series is about. I think there are too many cooks in their creative kitchen who cannot put aside their own pride for the sake of lore continuity or character integrity. When I saw the main girls' redesigns, I had serious issues. Alex and Lisa's eye colors have changed and we as fans are just supposed to accept that without explanation. So many other key, fundamental parts of our main characters and the story itself have changed, it feels like they're imposters.
My main issue is that it's SO FUCKING SMALL. Like jesus christ I have basically perfect 20/20 vision with only a bit of nearsightedness (from using a computer so much..) and the icons are just too small to comfortably see. And it only gets worse with higher resolution screens because SSO hasn't moved out of 2005 and doesn't scale UI with the screen like LITERALLY EVERY OTHER GAME EVER? And now we have 2 styles of UI in game? Knowing SSO's track record with half-updating stuff and never coming back to it again, how long are we gonna have this two-UI thing? Also this new update broke the loading screens on widescreen monitors lol
@Bianca Karlmats why are you so pressed lmao? Old sso graphics are not that good, I’ll admit they are very nostalgic and I do miss it sometimes. But the newer graphics are *WAY* better in the long run, the new horses + coats and storylines are awesome.
@@HollowStormyi don’t think graphics update really speaks on “improvement” there is definitely a way they coulda flown w the low poly graphics. the art style atm is void of personality, looks like a plastic barbie playset. alicia online is a really good example of old graphics aging well (it was in development since 2005, it looks stunning). with good art direction, they could’ve worked on improving low poly horses. besides that, the old world textures were fixable, with most of the touch ups needed on buildings. ofc a lot of the issues here are unrelated to lowpoly graphics n mostly to do w lack of gameplay/ bugs. the company puts more resources into making horses than improving gameplay, that much is obvious. after years of horse vomiting and turning a blind eye to bigger issues it’s no surprise how bad it’s snowballing itself into sunsetting the game. they make safe decisions when they need riskier ones, and risky decisions when they need safe ones. it is absolutely going to get worse
the reason i loved the old sso is so much more than just nostalgia but because the style was unique and had charm. If i wanted to play with realistic horses and play a riding simulator i could’ve gone to any other horse game on the market. Sso has had very stylized horses and unique approaches especially because the story was genuinely intriguing and interesting. Today everything is washed down it‘s like people think that kids are dumb and only like cute and friendly design choices or stories. I was a child when i was playing sso and i understood so much more than what companies or parents give children credit for. It’s also dangerous in my opinion to shelter or baby children too much from real things like death or mean people. Sure the animation is so much better but they could’ve kept the unique horse/character style and still make it fun and pleasing to look at. Some may like realism and that’s fine but to me its boring and unoriginal.
same, I was playing since 2015, and I was just 5 years old a lot of things have changed, and as I notice there aren't as much roleplays (atleast in my country's servers) I couldn't read when I started, but when I could read I would see atleast 5 different roleplays starting, now I hardly ever see 1
Community: Please don't release this update we don't want it! Starstable: Cool, we do what we want. Edit: referring to Horse progression Edit again: Alright guys, it's an opinion of mine that I didn't like that they took away galloping/special moves. If you enjoy the new update that's fine, you can enjoy it. I don't mind the UI or that they made leading free (although a little annoying) Are you allowed to be frustraited? Yes. You are. Are you allowed to be perfectly fine with it? Yes. you are. You can feel however you want to feel about the update, it's not a crime. Anyway, you guys be nice to each other in the comments, opinions are fickle things.
@@havidikevidi the Sso community complain every time something in the game changes Even when people quite like the change, they don’t like the way it changes. It cannot stay the same as it was 10 years ago, which is basically what the community seem to want.
star stable is giving us bigger promises and failing to do them. i appreciate the (somewhat) effort that they atleast try, but it's a little dissapointing we are yet again getting more horses and worse actual game updates.
fr… the colours, the design, everything. i logged back in the for the first time in years without knowing about any updates or whats changed and logged out and uninstalled within the first 30 minutes. they had so much room and potential to make it good, and i wouldnt be mad if they changed it to something *good*, but lets be honest it looks pretty bad and just doesnt fit star stable at all.
honestly i hate being negative but they never fucking listenen to their players and then wonder why their game is doing worse??? like thats what makes it sm worse, i dont think the ui needed changing at all, with everything chnagijg in the game the ui still suited the overall style and i domt believe it was necessary, and especially with the fact that most people hated it or werent in love with it. Sso is losing its spark for me and im so sad abt it, but theyve removed everything thar gave the game a little bit of life. Even small things likr the bus that created a little bit of challenge and also gave you a reason to socialize with people, loads of little features like that that gave the game some life were removed and it just feels so still and lifeless. I just no longer have the same motivation to play the game, and dont even get me started on the chnaged to storylines esp main storyline, with them removing bits so its not as challenging for new players (aka sucking the life out of it and making it boring as all hell and soooo soo much shorter). And smaller chnages like making the bobcats nicer just again makes the game feel stagnant. Its just really removing the magic from the game, and im livid, im so sad about the direction the game is going.
I feel like horse progression would have been better received if it added something rather than locking something already existing. Like if they did groundwork liberty training with it, then they could have built upon their dressage stuff they tried out during the festival. Idk
Also just about the new HUD, I feel like it's on the way to being ok. Right now I'm getting "mmo anime mobile game" vibes, lots of buttons that are exactly clear, I think that's why it feels cluttered, and with it all separated there isn't a real cohesiveness to it. I'm sure we can all get used to it like any other game, there is nostalgia with the old HUD but ultimately I'm a little more concerned about fluidity of game play with the new setup
I feel like the UI is all over the place. It feels... messy. That's probably just me though. I definitely do not like how the gait changes are at the bottom of the screen however. It looks very out of place. Other than that, I do like this update. I love the fact that you get xp for caring for your horse, I do like that your horse can follow you, and that you can call for it if it gets lost in a sea of players when a new horse comes out lol. But I am beyond grateful they changed the horse icon on the loading screens- I always felt myself die inside watching the broken lusitano. Edit: Also, sso now feels like a Ubisoft game.
Nah not just you on the UI thing. There are some things that I like about the UI like grouping player info and horse info up at the top left, but it's weird that they just kinda spread actionable stuff everywhere. It feels like there's no primary spot to focus on to perform actions. They exist in all non-chat corners of the screen and some are buried in menus while others aren't. It feels scattered and unintuitive. There's also no visual differentiation between buttons which open menus and buttons which perform actions, like the radial menu button and the more actions buttons look the same as the button to open your inventory or for the global store. Moving the map up to the top right is also weird and disorienting when players are used to a certain layout regardless of whether they're old or new players :/ Edit to add that I had a really hard time finding call for pickup. It's both in the radial menu AND in the more options menu then again into the settings menu... Despite trying to make the HUD look cleaner and minimal, the actual experience of using it feels crowded and clunky.
@@Ahmgcats I agree with you. Granted, we’ll more than likely get used to it as time goes on, but it really just doesn’t feel clean, easy to understand and navigate. Like you said, they may have wanted a more cleaner look, but it doesn’t feel like it when everything is all over the place, and I feel like it takes away from enjoyment of the game itself and the aesthetics of the game when it’s just plastered everywhere on the screen haphazardly. I don’t like the fact that now, the player’s eyes will more than likely immediately land on the UI rather than the character and your horse. At least, that’s what happens to me since it’s really distracting for me. And the pick up one… you’re so right. I feel confused on which one I should pick for whatever reason. I’m like, “wait so… it’s on the screen, but also on the settings menu…? Why did they feel the need to add two???? Which one do I pick again?” And there’s a lot of… space between the icons. That makes it so much worse actually.
not just you its idk too big? its like pop ups when your watching a movie on a website annoying, bothering, gamebreaking and worst of all takes away the fun and beautifull seroundings.
I'm not a big fan of the new ui. All of the bugs were insane too, my horses literally went missing and I was getting teleported all over the map. Let's see how long it takes for it all to be fixed.
Honestly though. The horseshoe was very much iconic star stable. I also wish the map was back on the bottom of the screen or we had an option of where we wanted it so those who like the new placement can have that while others can have the placement they prefer.
Also I love to hear someone that has not so extremly negative or overly positive opinion about UI. We need to distance ourselves from this game more. I think people tend to take those changes a bit to personal. Like there are problems and bugs of course (and those should and will probably be fixed) but it's not like EVERYTHING is bad about it :( It honestly makes me sad to see how divided our community is.
I am one of the people who only has a negative opinion on this UI, but I think it's because I am just so fed up of Star Stable not listening to their audience.. And they are just removing all the colour and lively-ness from the game!! I don't think this UI change was necessary at all. I am quite disappointed in what SSO is becoming, I really hope the team step up their game and listen to their audience!!! 🥲
in my opinion the old UI was too cluttered and this one is the exact opposite, they should’ve not rush the update and find a nice balance where you can actually see the UI but it’s not as cluttered as the old one
I’m actually not mad at it. It feels more modern and I love the spaciousness vibe of it. It is confusing at first though haha. The negative point for me and I guess it is more of a pet peeve, is that the new vibe and the old vibe are collapsing into eachother right now. They should’ve done the whole layout
Reading this is interesting because the modern look is the exact reason I am not a fan of it. I think the old clunky tech was quite fitting for the character of Jorvik. It showed that there wasn’t so much focus on technology and more focus on the world that surrounded them and the horses. I think Jorvik and that old style fit perfectly together. I think the old style but a bit updated and refined would be fine and dandy, but this is a huge change & completely different style. Also, my pet peeve also is that we have the clashing styles. If they were going to do the UI change, I think it at the very least could’ve finished the change to everything before releasing it. I think SSO would greatly benefit from showing snapshots and previews before releasing an update for the soul purpose of receiving feedback before getting to the point of release. Concept art would save a lot of hassle and time. I think today, it’s very unfortunate, but most people are going to be overly critical or hateful no matter what SSO does. It’s not just for SSO, it’s for everything that anyone does. Example: posting a dog sitting on a couch will somehow receive extreme negativity or a positive video about helping someone else is going to somehow receive bitter commenters. Angry seems to be the thing to be right now 🤷♀️
This is just sad tbh😭 It will literally never be the same. I really miss the way sso was like 3 years ago… Some of the updates are cool- but there’s so many bugs and the new UI looks off tbh-
@@esra4404 i don’t think that’s just a mobile thing depending on your horses level. SSO locked the special moves behind the horse bonding thing and it’s not unlockable until horse level 7. Which imo is complete bs
@@lupinx4177i agree, i really feel like they locked special gaits, bonding things etc just so people would be more motivated to play the game and level up horses, but for me it makes me wanna play less, i’d rather buy the horse n be able to just do the special move
@@lupinx4177 oh no i know dw the horse radial was sort of bugged on mobile (for me atleast) so when they moved the special move from the screen onto the radial i was unable to use it but it’s sorted
Literally, i loved the old cellphone and the big horseshoe 😔 I also hate how SSO added the double check for going to your homestable. I’ve logged off by accident more then i have ever went to my homestable by accident 🥲
The UI is so boring it's super tiny making the screen looks empty but it also looks super chaotic with all these buttons, the dark colors make it loose the charm it had. If they used the old UI as a reference it would look much better imo
The horse bonding itself is lovely!! And I like the following action. But the UI gives me a headache!! It is so messy, the whole community were saying how they didn't want this, and of course sso still added it... 🙄
I didn’t know there was a UI change. It doesn’t feel very SSO at all. I liked the clunky cell phone, it made fun noises. I still miss the door that opened when you entered the game, I liked the sound a lot 😍 That was a billion years ago though lol The new UI looks, unfortunately, not at all creative and the same as almost every single game. It looks too clean for SSO and doesn’t go with the old clunky tech that Jorvik had. That’s how I feel anyways :P Edit: Said this in one of my replies, but I finally realized what it is about the UI graphics & sounds that I loved, besides uniqueness. When the doors opened to the game and you had this clunky cell phone design, the beeping beepity noise when you hovered over it- and those clunky horses loll. Yes, it obviously brings a lot of nostalgia with it, but it genuinely felt like I was being taken away and encapsulated in another world. There was the ginger cat who gave me all the in game facts, then you started hearing the atmospheric sounds of the game. I want that encapsulation back and that unique style- not so much the clunky NPCs and horses, love the new ones we have. The NPCs could at least resemble their original designs a little bit though. Why is James tall and Mrs. Holdsworth not so short?? Lol.
To expand on your point of the NPC's not resembling the old designs, it gets worse. We got zero explanation as to why Alex and Lisa's literal eye colors changed, why Jessica's (or "Jay's", whatever) skin color changed, why Sabine has a much broader build than before, etc.... The people involved in making these nonsensical changes arent thinking about how it impacts the integrity of the story or characters we have grown to enjoy. It's all a bunch of prideful BS and it has damaged the game, imo.
@@LilEuphie I agree! The characters don’t feel the same, even if they’ve aged or whatever. The Dark Riders especially. To me they’re overly nice for people that are meant to be our enemies. While I think being forced to work with them on a couple extreme occasions can actually make for an interesting story, it’s more every time they pop up I’m like “These people are supposed to be my enemies??” Like the whatchamacallit festival- I can’t remember the name of the festival for some reason. The one that Sabine always comes to to show off her “moves” and race us. I also think it’s a bit annoying that our horse has no chance of beating her. I think there should be a set of skill traits that you can have on your starter horse (cost Star coins to completely reset them) that way your horse has strengths and weaknesses. Would be nice to personalize our soul steeds in general. Back to the skill trait concept, if I were to pump my horse’s speed (skills would be temporarily wiped when participating in a champ), it might not have the best strength or whatever. I’m not sure how I ended up on a completely different subject lol, but I did. I also find it interesting that animations in quests (such as wheels moving on a vehicle pulling a trailer) are still so poor. The NPCs look great even though they don’t exactly represent the originals. I want Mrs. Holdsworth’s bright red boots back. It adds character 😂 As much as I want to, I don’t play SSO as much as I used to. No, I don’t have the same time as I used to, but when I do log in, it doesn’t usually hold my attention for so long. It’s a shame, really. A game that’s so dear to my heart.
I like the new UI but there are many things I wish would change. Options to move things around, make the mini map a little larger like in RDR2, and switch the transparency of the chat because some people tend to find the transparency distracting. It's very modernized but its okay! A lot of people don't seem to get that these changes were necessary, and SSO couldn't just change one thing without changing another thing, since thats not how game development works. Everything effects eachother in one way or another. I know we will all eventually adjust to it, and there will only be improvements to the new UI and horse progression in the future. SSO also did state they would be updating the style of the entire UI to make it more real to the game, eventually, once all of the bugs have been patched up. (Also Denise we've had that hide rider and player feature for months now LOL)
I completely agree with you. As a person who plays sso almost from it´s beginning it´s always good to see the developers are doing something to keep the game updated but some things are just better left old. The chat is a cool update but that´s probably the only thing I like (and I don´t even chat in sso as I´m a solo player). :,))
I think when there is something very sad about it it’s just the whole thing of changing and bringing updates into the game no one’s ever even asked for. The old interface was for so long a thing.. I know the game needs to move and goes on as it should but not in a way that the community makes them not gonna play the game and feeling lost and not anymore included
I totally agree, my eyes have been getting worse and i have trouble seeing the map or the bio of items in the inventory. Medium is too small, but large is too big and takes up all of the screen since i play on a Macbook, if there was a size in between it’d be wonderful
I have mixed feelings about the new update, at least from what I’ve seen in this video - I haven’t played SSO since. It looks like the update was well-envisioned, but it feels so rushed. The mixed interface and the bugs should have been fixed before release. It’s one thing experiencing these problems in an early access game, it’s quite another experiencing them in a “complete” game with an $80 pay once price tag. That said, I am mostly pleased with the new horse progression feature. I love being able to call your horse and for it to follow your player character around. Also, the ability to make your player character and horse disappear is great for short stories and music videos. Again, nice concepts, just rushed execution.
I really like this update, minus the 100,000 bugs I faced the moment I logged on. I think it's going to make leveling up your horses a lot more fun! The UI is kinda unfortunate though, I wish that they kept a similar style so the new UI wouldn't feel so weird. It was one of the only things that Star Stable hadn't completely changed and now it's gone :( Also, Star Stable added the invisibility a long time ago! They added it right after people started asking them to add an invisibility feature for movies.
This update makes the UI look SOULESS. There's hardly any color, its too simplistic and doesn't come off as a fantasy horse game with it's own style... That's it.. It has no style to it, besides simplistic modern... like the modern McDonald's buildings, theyve stripped the soul from it.
exactly. I saw a comment that said it doesn’t feel like Jorvik anymore, and it’s so true. It’s supposed to be this fantasy, magic, and after all sso is changing everything unique about this game. I’m questioning if spending money on this game was even worth it honestly.
I'm so glad to hear you not being divided to loving it or hating it because I was starting to think I was the only one who didn't quite know what to think about this update like I don't know some things are nice and some are not etc like you said. And everyone *almost everyone
I definitely hate how extreme the division is. Rather than saying “Oh I hate it”, it should be “I am not a fan of the new UI, because…” It’s important for the argument to be backed up, just saying you hate something doesn’t give SSO any feedback on what to change, just that you hate it. I think the horse progression still has some refining, but I am genuinely thrilled about it. I think it does add to the game and making your horses more personal. However, I’m not at all a fan of the new UI. To me, it doesn’t fit the style of SSO and the original one did. It may have needed some updating, but this is a style change. The new style has also be done and done again. Clunky tech was fun to me.
ugh it just doesn’t feel like star stable anymore, i hate that the old UI is gone. everything about star stable that made it stars stable for me is gone now
the update is actually nice, i love it.... but the thing that kills it is the HUGE amount of bugs.. it's almost as if SSO didn't bug check it before release ._. you can't even get through the start area without the radial menu glitching out the whole screen and having to restart your game to fix it ONLY to have it repeat again however, the ui is nice, it doesn't feel as crowded and the opacity is very handy. the chat looks great but the scale of text is un-changable so if you have bad eyesight it's hard to read chat (i don't even have bad eyesight and the text hurts my eyes) i'm happy that we get to socialise with our horses and even get extra xp every 10-20 minutes, but the leading, calling and dismounting is so bugged and works so badly hopefully this'll all be fixed SOON
for me personally, I just feel that horse progression just doesn’t have enough rewards for the higher tiers, especially level 15. I understand that it’s a work in progress so of course there’s more to be done, I just really hope SSO adds more rewards to lvl 14 and especially 15 in the future to make training past lvl 13 a worthy endeavour!!!
I genuinely LOVE this update. I love the new UI and how minimalistic it is. The old one was honestly too big and clunky, and I never really liked the setup. Also I am so happy with the horse progression. It's nice having something to work towards when leveling your horses up, instead of just mindlessly doing courses to up your level. (It was always weird to me how SSO never really had any level up rewards like most online games.) I'll be honest - I've been a player for about 3 years now ( was an og SSO player, but lost my childhood account RIP), and I'm just now hitting level 19. I've only got one maxed horse. It was so boring before. I would log in, run a few courses and maybe some quests, and log back out. My star coins generally go to stable care bc I just didn't find enjoyment being online outside of events. Now though, I feel excited to play again. And yeah, there's bugs. Unless there's like a complete update on the entirety of the game's code, it's going to be a continued issue when new stuff is released. Best thing to do is to report bugs to SSO and hope they get fixed in a timely manner. But seriously I've never encountered and seriously bad bugs on here lol. Like, compared to a Bethesda game, the bugs in SSO are so tame. They're usually fixed by just relogging. I feel like, in general, the SSO community is too resistant to change and too caught up in the "nostalgia" of the old system. You don't really miss the old SSO, you miss the way it felt playing as you grew up. And I get that. But the game NEEDS to change to keep up with the market. New UIs and improved graphics will help bring in new players. And for it being similar to a mobile game, it's honestly what I would do too if I was a game dev. The SSO on mobile is basically the same as the PC version, so it makes sense to try and make them as similar as possible to help with bug fixes, imo. All in all, love the new update and am excited to play for the first time in a while.
Everyone misses the nostalgia. However, there’s also missing the encapsulation and, at least for me, it’s not nearly as encapsulating as it used to be. Not just because of a “child” mind or whatever. To me, the game used to be louder and sounded more alive. The atmosphere was wonderful. While the old UI may have been too big, I think the idea of clunky tech fit SSO and Jorvik better. The focus wasn’t on technology, it was on the world around them. This new style has been done and done again. I think the old one had more character, but yeah, should’ve been updated to be less bulky. The only thing I do like about the UI change is how big my screen feels, I don’t like the style and it does feel a bit scattered to me, but I’ve also been playing for 10~ years so it’s a huge change. I love a lot of the updated look that SSO has gone for. NPCs look great, but they could do a better job representing the originals. The updated graphics look great in my opinion as well. However, the art style and the UI just doesn’t feel as Jorvik-y to me. To me, old SSO also did a better job at the magical and mystical even with the crusty animations (in which animations in quests still need lots of work). I think the atmosphere and the busyness created by that atmosphere (and lots of players as well) really created the world of Jorvik then- and the storyline. The game doesn’t feel as atmospheric to me anymore. The game’s background music, but then also when moving throughout the world hearing random NPCs talking in the background depending on location, the licking and chewing the horse made… There just seemed to be more emphasis on it. It’s definitely a battle. I think old players aren’t just upset because they miss the nostalgia, it’s because the game doesn’t look the same. Even updated with its wonderful NPCs, it could still look the same and bring that same feeling. However, it’s not an updated and improved style, it’s a complete change of style. Which is incredibly shocking for older players. Sometimes, people are also against so much change, because they have so much change already in their lives. Sometimes coming back to something that’s kept that similar energy and feel and look, still updated and beautiful and refined, can bring those people a bit of comfort they need in the moment. In my opinion, the game used to do a better job, even with its crusty graphics, bringing a player into a different world. A world full of mystery, magic, and adventure.
Horse bonding was needed and one of the greatest updates imo. I see so many people enjoying it. I know not everyone are happy, because i know some people complained how you now must level up to use gaits on the new horses you purchase - but i dont think thats really valid. They obviously push gameplay. Yes, some play just to take pictures or buy a new horse, but the you should expect that the update still was needed. Its not like it take a long time to unlock them if you play, anyway.
I actually like this initiative, however they completely went about it wrong… I’m not saying that I could do any better but a golden nameplate, really? I think it would be smarter to make level 13 full stats, level 14 maybe the nameplate and for example for level 15 making it so that you get a short boost at the beginning of a race/championship. Think about it, it would be beneficial to reach level 15 not per say for the stats, but to unlock an extra advantage for racing. I think this would stimulate a lot more people to spend time reaching level 15 and thus spending more time in the game and thus more income for SSO (because that’s all they care about anyways) My point is, it’s not that hard to 1, listen to feedback (yes I’m looking at you UI) and 2, come up with NEW ways to engage players, not lock certain features we already had behind an exp wall. What’s the point? It’s especially ridiculous how we have to reach level 7 to unlock a horse’s special move. We literally paid extra sc for said horse and animation and we can’t even get it straight away? I’m not sure what the future holds in store for SSO, but if it keeps going like this, it’s not going to be pretty.
with this new ui i am not exited for the new players now and honestly i never was but now i am just even more scared i have been playing star stable for so long and i dont want to quit it but really i feel like star stables comments are like we dont like this and they still do it i am scared for their future they could of been fixing this ui but they make a candle i have so many complaints about star stable it is odd i am not the type of person to say i want old star stable back but now i might be turning into to one of those
I like the new GUI, I don't really like the old one and I like the new training style, gives me a reason to train my horses. I do wish we could adjust individual parts of the GUI like you can on Lunar Client. All though, they should've done it entirely, I don't like how both are present, the old one hurts my eyes and its so ugly (in my opinion)
I think this update was necessary for the game. This was essential. I've wanted a new UI for years because the blue and yellow theme felt out of place with how the game was progressing. I did like the leveling bar and the horseshoe menu, it would be cool if they had updated that instead, but other than that, I feel like it's nothing but nostalgia for old times that's holding people back (also the mobile feel - I get why that is disliked). The horse progression was the essential part. If SSE had developed their game like I feel they should have during its 12 years of existance, we would have had horse progression and bonding for years now. But it's here now, and at least it's in further development. I watched JustAnotherPixel's video about it, and I'm pretty sure she said that this is not the final product? that they're gonna change it along the way? idk. I've seen multible people refer to this. Makes me wonder why they released an unfinished product. Other than that, I actually really enjoy this update! I like the new features, if they would just not be bugged immediately😂In terms of the follow command, I would like to see the horse moving way slower than it currently is. It's like it's moving too fast, and has to come to a complete halt in order not to get ahead of the player. That's quite annoying and can't really be used in creative videos such as roleplay.
I’ve played since the Sweden release of the game when it first came out and surprisingly I actually like the new UI. It feels more clean and doesn’t hurt my eyes as much with brightness. It also doesn’t take up as much of the screen as before and feels less messy/cluttered
I honestly wasn't excited about the new update but I logged on anyways and I can't even care for my horse without my whole game freezing up. I don't know if it's just me but it's kind of stupid that I can't even DO what the update was supposed to be about. So frustrating. It got to where I just logged off and gave up and I am one of those people that always tries to find the good in sso, and I never give up on sso but this update just really ticked me off.
To me the horseshoe minimap was unique and you saw it and though “ponies” and “starstable” it frustrates me that they made the leading free, I had to pay to get that years ago. His point for “change it all not only some” hits hard for me. Back to the minimap, it had all of the important tabs were all compacted around the map and made it easy to follow. now i need to search for them
Hey Denis, I can't log in to sso because it says that there's an update. Do you know anything about this? Are they bug fixing or something or is it just my computer?
So I have always loved star stable and when I was 10 I finally got my own laptop so I downloaded star stable and got lifetime star rider and 1 month ago my laptop broke so I couldn’t play star stable(my laptop was 3 years old so ya that’s why it broke) so I had to switch to my iPad and download star stable….Mobile suck,I hate it but I love star stable so I have to play on my iPad,I do not recommend mobile,I checked out the new update to and I was so confused,my house evaporated and I couldn’t find it for like 10 minutes😭I had to leave and rejoin.
I dont fully mind it but they need the chat in the corner more, & reconfigure the whole right side to make it aa bit more in one plaace, but the xp bars maainly needd to be recolored to teal
I hate the fact that Star Stable is just changing the whole game. They can't to turn the aesthetic of the game from pink to goldenish purple. I don't know what they want to achieve with all this but the game is clearly digging up their own grave. SSO does not feel like SSO anymore. It's just like every other horse game. The charm and magic is gone. The company is so toxic and so is the community, the only thing they focus on is replacing stuff and adding more horses, they've ruined the whole storyline. They don't care about the players that have been around and supporting since the start. They only focus on money, money and more money. You don't play for the charm and magic anymore, this game has turned into a game where you just show off how much money you can put in it. The company does not care about the community, they make things we DONT ask for, things that ruin our game. I ended up not looking forward for Wednesdays, all they add is things players end up hating. I miss the old SSO art, soundtrack. I understand that games have to evolve, they have to be updated. Keyword, updated. Not REPLACED. SSO could just easily update the already existing UI and not change it into a lifeless mobile thing. I hate the new feeling, I hate everything.
I actually really like the updated UI, it doesnt feel normal yet but it is just so much neater than it was before. I agree that it does look like a phone game UI but it doesn't really bother me. I wish the community would be less negative about it and more accepting, everyone is entitled to their own opinnion though.
The engine they're using cannot handle much more, hence the bugs... This game will not continue or grow if they dont do an overhaul. It's falling apart.
6:15 - this happens to me but then I can see through the darkness, and so I go back to my home stable and click on it, and then I get a message from my horse saying “(horse name) shifts uncomfortably beneath you” and then I can reply with three options but they’re all “0”. So I choose a response and nothing happens, and then I go to leave the hs and my game crashes?
The bug with the following command is so annoying. I had it with the cows and sheep at the mid summer event and when relogging etc it did nothing, rly annoying
I miss 2019 SSO. :( Some of the updates are cute but HQ is so inconsistent and sometimes just flat out ignore an entire fandom. I miss when they were less commercial.
This might be unpopular but like the new UI. It gives me a mythical/fantasy kind of vibe. I also like the new bonding system with your horse, it’s something small that makes a difference in the way we play. Overall, I like the direction SSO is heading. My only concern is the next story quest update, assuming we get to see the final dark rider. To anyone who has seen the new designs for the dark riders, y’all know what I’m talking about 😂
sso didn't think the new UI through, we don't get notifications anymore and thats not a bug. theres simply no place to give us notifications with the new UI. it's like mobile, not only that but sso isint updating they're removing, its so sad.
Not Denis getting happy over a feature that was implemented into the game like a year ago ahahah Also we have been petting our horses for ages but whereas it's a keybind now it used to be an idle animaton then.
I actually kinda like it. Granted I don’t like everything but I’ve gotten used to sso not listening to us so im not gonna even bother. However, I cant play it for that long bc I have so many bugs it’s unusable. I will walk and then the hole screen starts shading and having a seizure. Then my mouse duplicates a billion times and the the screen starts flashing on and of red so yeah… it’s fu*ked
Horse updates are cool but expensive and only 1month every horse or more game updates because there alreayd to many horse that are soo expensive, like 30 bucks a horse? Like I can’t believe I spent like 200 dollars on this game
bro, like for real, they don't even fully commit to it, they half-assed the whole thing with just some of the UI in the new style and then other parts (setting menu, horse race timer, profile etc.) being in the old one. It's like they want to loose users. Also the sparkles after every race are driving me mad and make me not want to level anymore.
The new UI is gonna be hard for people who have poor vision to play. It’s so small, I get they were trying to get it out of the way so you could see the game better but now you gotta squint to see anything. I agree there’s a lot of new features that are fantastic (wish the bugs weren’t so bad) but the UI looks not right and is too small.
Partial UI changes are actually fairly common. Most likely Star Stable will come out with the rest later. Maybe helps with the mobile-ish feel too when everything's in place lol
I honestly appreciate the fact that you don't take the bugs too personally. I'm so sick of the negativity that people on this game have for the new updates. You still also giving actual constructive criticism, but also understanding the perks that the updates bring with the knowledge that change brings growth.
Yes. It did. It makes gameplay so confusing. We TOLD sso we didn't want it. Almost every comment I saw on it had some kind of negative on it. I hate it. Having to unlock the GALLOP!? and LEAD?! and the SPECIAL MOVE that we pay extra for??? NO. This is absolute trash. PLEASE take this update down SSO. The community said we didn't want it and you STILL released it. This is why sso looses so many players ;/
i used to play star stable all the time for the first time ever in 2019. it was my fav game ever at the time. i last played sometime earlier this year and logged on for the first time today. i was.. not impressed. the launcher is cool, and they improved the loading screens, but the UI in game is so.. ugly. :/ couldn't bring myself to pay for membership again and i'm kinda sad.
I like the majority of the update the problem is that it is wayy to buggy , i cannot even enter my home stable without lagging in spot and barely seeing somethinng . If they will fix the bugs i can say i don’t mind the horse progresion that much . The UI is different but i am sure i will get used to it . Overall it is good but kinda of unplayable rn due to bugs at least for me
i dont care about the horse thingys now, tho im very happy ur hose can follow you know however i am pissed abt the UI Lol. its way to messy ill choose the old one any day over this one and its also a bit random imo theres a dismount button just in the middle lmao. also the fact i wanted to see how the UI looked in the diffrent sizes but uh lesson learned if you put it in the large size you cant change it back again beacuse the setting just ran off or somthing
I'm actually pretty excited for the new ui. I get missing the nostalgic vibe and graphics, but I'd rather have a game that looks and works better and has more features than before. The bugs are obviously a problem, but come on... This is sso we're talking about - since when did any of their updates not have bugs - the critique should be more on how it affects gameplay. Short answer, it really doesn’t, even if you think it does. It takes up very little space in comparison to the old ui. You're still clicking or avoiding the same little corners. It's serving its purpose without jutting out like a sore thumb, letting you immerse yourself in the gameplay. Yall keep arguing that it looks too modern - like what do you expect from a game being made and updated during modern times..? The horse bonding is a great change (which we HAVE ASKED FOR) as well as the now free (yet earned) lead. I swear, the people arguing about the free lead sound like the people angry that recent day students are being relieved of their student debt and not the ones who already graduated. It's annoying, stop. I bet some were unhappy when jumping became an all-inclusive thing, too, funnily enough. Not to mention the new features such as petting your horse on your saddle, calling them, and letting them follow you. Like guys, calm down, the ui isn't that bad, it's not going to bite you. I'm not one to love sso or the way they do things, but I can't help but feel a lot of people are way too angry at it for no reason. Living to hate something is not a good look. Dislike it? Stop paying them, for a start. The rest of us will actually enjoy our game.
i would've MAYBE started play sso rarely again after 1,5 year, but after i saw the new UI, this.. new horse training thing and what not, i think i'll just stick to other games. im def NOT buying 950sc horse just to have to train the horse to a certain level to unlock special gait/move. and in a way this game costs ~70€ (lifetime sr) and its def not worth it with all these bugs and the way sso team doesnt listen to players at all. even rdr2 is cheaper and A LOT better. +sso is too expensive compared to it's quality. "yeah but the workers need bread on the table", i know but then they could at least make the game worth the money. and I personally just think that way, i think this game has waaayy too many unfixed bugs and isnt worth the money, at least for now
I'm getting so annoyed with the people who are overly negative about it because Star stable isn't going to change it back and I think it looks really nice and is organized really well
Honestly, the fact you can be more interactive with your horse is cool, but the new UI? No. That's no SSO. I hate it. It's too rounded and minimalist, and like you said, looks like a mobile game. It just does not match SSO in my eyes. The minimap is WAYYY too small and who.. thought it was a good idea?
