Love the little model at 0:56...it's the little things that count. And even if all you know for other languages are Spanglish and Polynesian greetings, that's still better than no knowledge! Motivate yourself to pick up more languages! As Federico Fellini once said, a different language is a different vision of life. To have another language is to possess a second soul. So by learning another language, you're opening the door to that culture and thus a new perspective. Opening ourselves up by learning other languages...is how we grow as people. It's another way of appreciating the world surrounding us. If you talk to a person in a language they understand, that goes to their head. But to them in their own language, that goes to their heart.
If you want a super comfortable ergo chair that will last a lifetime, then nothing compares to a Herman Miller Aeron! These chairs are really expensive but, Oh boy! are they worth it. I own one since many years and it is absolutely the best investment I made for my office
The protected/indoor helm layout on the HH52 looks incredible, along with those tiller chairs. I think the forward helm being protected like that would allow for much safe single-handed sailing, especially with such a great view of the sails from the vertical sky window.
Technically, the HH52 is the upgraded version of the HH55, not the HH50. The HH52 is 55.9 feet making it even longer than the HH55 which is 54.9 feet long according to HH Cats website. I think the HH44 will be perfect for you guys but I think Jason's eyes light up a little bigger whenever the HH52 is mentioned 😜🤩But the question everybody else is asking...did you get a dishwasher?
I believe the 52 uses the same bottom mould as the 50 and has a new top to upgrade the design. The extra length comes from a longer bowsprit, which inturn increases sail area and power. HH recently released a video about the new 52. Looks like the future of cat sailing to me. 😊
@@darren5472 The bowsprit is not included when measuring a boat's length. I believe the HH52 comes from an entirely new mould because the designs of the helms are quite different from the older models, which employ a raised helm position.
*Glad you are back, I thought maybe something was wrong as we missed you last week. On a sidenote, if you’d like sailing channels don’t forget about the “Cruising Kiwis “it’s the adventures of a New Zealand family sailing the world*
I really like the sugar scoops that fold up, it seems like a good safety feature from both a following sea point of view but also for safety when you are on deck. You guys see soooo excited about your new boat, and that's a fun thing Keep the good stuff coming guys.
And safety for landing fish, granted our sugar scoops are much smaller as we’re only 38 ft but I have not been comfortable with my husband going down there to land a big fish while underway, they really can thrash and it’s not much space (he does have he hand holds but I’d be much happier with the fold up sugar scoops). Alas our budget was not a new boat boat so we’ll be happy with our 38 ft 11 year old boat and I’ll just make him clip in when there’s a big fish on.
Dearest Wynns, I've watched you throughout your boating journey (I don't even sail) and this is the first time, to my recollection, you've cut-off a segment partway and baited us to your Patreon. This is a low. Just had to say it, sorry.
Love seeing your excitement over this stuff! This really is like watching two kids in a toy shop. This was a neat tour! Though I still think you chose the right one. When you decide to make a big purchase of a mode of transport, you look for the one that speaks to you. And the boat you ended up selecting spoke to you! Fun fact: The flag at 1:49 is the civic ensign of the British Virgin Islands! The ordinary British Virgin Islands flag is dark blue! The flag and its coat of arms has been in use since 1960! It features St. Ursula holding a gold oil lamp and surrounded by eleven lamps. These eleven lamps represent her 11,000 virgin followers. These islands would be named after these followers by Columbus in 1493 as the BVI's many islands reminded him of them. Below the shield is a banner that says "Vigilate" which is the territory's motto and means "Be watchful" in Latin. Although what is now BVI was claimed by the Spanish in 1555, they didn't build any settlements there and the Dutch were the first to live there until 1666 when English planters forced the Dutch to leave.
These guys are true adventurers and seemingly so genuine and honest. Their positivity is infectious and they always see the bright side of things in life.
@@Chris-fo8wp The Outremer 52 can pivot the helm from the outboard laydown seat, to standing and docking position, to inboard under cover. Best of all worlds.
@@Chris-fo8wp agree. Might be fun for a few hours but not on a long passage. No protection from the elements at all. Seems like a lot of space and expense for something that won't get much use after the first few months.
"THE CHAIR": Well, you may not be able to actually sail from them, but perhaps you should consider getting YOUR hull reinforced now so a pair of these chairs could be added later....
You know you can raise the chair, don't ya? KKKKK That chair almost ouside the boat is for Orcas and White Sharks using man as bait? You know, Like Donald and the talking cricket? It's a joke, but it is also true. I really love your CLOSED transom exactly due to the extra safety it provides... and no Morsa with 2 tons will lie over there, in cold áreas, in the future.
I would rather have a Chris White design cat made with S glass not carbon. The O'Kelly's episode of the Atlantic 72 " Penmanship" on RU-vid does it for me .
I LIKE the forward looking helm station but I am bothered by the large pillar to the right side as you look forward. I have many hobbies besides boats and 2nd to this is aviation and driving vehicles. This pillar greatly obstructs my vision on the right side. I mean, boat traffic doesn't only exist in front and behind your boat as you travel, Right? I would get ansy if I can't get as close to 180 degree forward views as - especially during bad weather or when visibility is already limited (night passages). To maintain boat symmetry I would have projected the cabin forward to wrap it around the mast, and have the helm station 2 or 3 feet forward with glass on all the sides... similar in shape or reminiscent of an airplane cockpit. Part of this would entail removing the space forward of the helm station that serves as a counter behind the instruments, making the person sitting there feel as if they were (almost) outside the boat (cabin). I later saw they did exactly this with the HH66. They should have adopted the same idea with the 44 & 52.
Okay. If you like the forward cockpit with a helm position so much, you could have got the Windelo 54 for the same money as that HH44. Actually saved money by getting the Windelo 50. Windelo cracked the forward cockpit helm position, which HH did not with the 52, in my view. The reason is, that the forward helm position in the Windelo can be enclosed to the bow in bad weather and to the living space in really bad weather, so it can be used in all conditions. Just like in Chris White designs, on the HH you have to retreat indoors in bad weather, but have to go out into the open in bad weather conditions, if you need to trim the sail plan, and the helm is in the middle of the living space, making the entire living space on the boat a work area, so to speak. HH do make beautiful boats though, but the new president and his very arrogant followers is not helping to sell the boats, quite frankly. He also keep saying, that these boats are much better build than Windelo, now HH is carbon, but actually the OC models are not and 50 and 44 are never: They are carbon bulkheads with e-glass hulls. E-glass, as HH calls it, is by the way a misnomer and really the hulls are simply glassfiber hulls. All that said, your boat is featuring many very attractive design features. I hate the helm positions though. You are always out in the open and very exposed. I however love the enclosed sugarscoops at sailing, which I bet many other companies will have to copy in the feature.
outboard helm is nice until you lose your phone, your keys, earbuds, wallet, your mind. But hey the view is great and if you have velcro on all pockets, no problems.
FYI, there are 2367547856 youtube videos on youtube about Florence. There are around 800 sailing channels, only a dozen successful. How many channels covered the world's only multihull show I La Grande Motte? About a dozen. There's a huge vacuum to be filled. Just saying.
You call someone who speaks two languages bilingual. You call someone who speaks lots of languages polylingual. What do you call someone who only speaks one language? American :) (I heard that from a tour guide in India).
OK...great that you guys got to the show...but I am sure that the question MOST on everyone's minds is... ...did that HH-50OC have a DISHWASHER?! lol ✌😂
The enthusiasm of these guys never stops ,it's contagious .these guys are such a joy to watch and there videos are so informative .The best sailing Chanel by far and never condescending .thank god they haven't gone down the mental health route as so many channels have down as they have gone way to woke .A channel for sailors and also for people who want to get away from the mundane on a weekly basis .
You guys are kind of on the smaller side as far as people go. Honestly, in your shoes, I'd get the smaller cat... Smaller parts = less maintenance costs and easier to handle sails, etc... While an extra 6-12" in a bathroom definitely is a game changer for a guy that's 6'2" and 300lbs, that also comes with a deeper draft which could be problematic in some places, a bigger beam, which limits who/where you can get hauled out by, and runs up your dockage fees.
The wait to awesomeness continues....but WOW that boat is really great! Love the idea of the helm seat hanging out like that!! Definite flashbacks to my sailing days in Boston Harbor with a 17 ft sloop....and trying not to get hit in the head when tacking. LOL I didn't see a dishwasher in that boat....haha.
It may sound a bit strange but i enjoyed the fact that it was a rainy day? It allows us to see, without obstruction of sunlight what the vessel actually looks like and how one could enjoy being on the water and watching the rain withour having to be ... in the water...!
I've never noticed this before.. but Nikki is an absolute stunner. y'all are an awesome power couple.. I'll be tuning in from time to time, excited when y'all get your new boat splashed and hashed.
Man, RU-vid was ON IT today with notifications when you posted! So glad it was. I Love my Sunday mornings with the Wynns. Whether I'm on my way home from nightshift or at work dayshift and have to wait until I get home to watch or I'm on days off and can watch snuggled in bed, Sundays are a favorite because of these videos. Thank you.
I think the 44 OC is the better choice for you guys, the HH52 isn’t a 52’ boat with 48’ of waterline not much more than your boat. Plus it’s got a $2.3M price tag when you add all the goodies. Love both of them though!
@@nbh00d There are so many options and differences between the two boats it is hard to say exactly, but basically for the entry model OC44 you are looking at $1,000,000, for a completely loaded to the max HH52 you are approaching $2,500,000. Then don't forget to plan for tacking on $75k for shipping costs if you don't plan on sailing it from China/Philippines.
@@TheDummytoto well having watched 250 of their recent videos over the past 5 years and having lived abroad for months and sailed thousands of miles on performance catamarans, I felt somewhat qualified to answer the question they asked. But hey it’s the internet and everyone is an expert here lol!
Appreciated hearing what you said about the Forward Cockpit. It would have been nice to see you in a Cat with it - but that is not to be. You are the 2nd Cat Sailing couple who would like to also have a Cat with the Forward C but they have not found one in their price range - yet. I am not giving up hope for them - time will tell.
Fully agree with the HH52 and the tiller chairs. They feel like an awesome place to be in calm seas and they just look fabulous. Also, the forward cockpit seems very safe in rough I feel that the forward cockpit comes at cost of much indoor less space. It feels like you cannot add 2 fridges, oven, washer and dish washer which is kind of necessary for family long distance cruising. Any thoughts about that?
2-29-24. A word about international communications. Don't know about the Maritime World but when it comes to Aviation "everyone" has to able to speak English. All pilots, the cabin crew, ground crews, airport control towers and air traffic control centers (ATC) converse in English.
I like the back cockpit couse we can watch THE BOAT and, you know, sometimes people fall in the water. If you are back there, chances are greater you see and can do something right at the moment.
That 88 is like the German 88 it hits the spot, though sadly it requires a crew. Jason your two dreams are answered. A fantastic coffee maker and DISHWASHER For me the best decorative part were the River Tables. This is a fantastic build, but it goes from the personal to the commercial. I'd love to be on her once to say I've done it, but it's too big for just two. Un abbraccio forte a due!
Having been a sailor myself I understand the excitement of getting a new boat. But I am surprised you have been able to afford a boat of this expense. It is a beautiful boat, but $1.3 M plus options and vat extra.... This boat is extremely expensive for repairs and especially for knocks or bumps during docking. But I am looking forward to following this new chapter in your life. Probably would have wanted a new name with a whole new boat which will have its own personality... Reminds me of people who have kids. Names the first "Boy" and the second child "Boy2".
I know you've already committed to the 44 but even if you do upgrade you've picked a Wynner. As the ol' commercial goes ... ant..ic..i..pation ... (Sorry, sounded better in my head :-) )
Just my personal opinion, the longer the boat the better. Hence if you choose the smaller one my answer is no, that's the wrong one. Why: hobby horsing, less speed, Personally we even think 50 is too small. But I understand its often a budget issue. And in comparison to not having a boat even 30ft is great. My ideal size for a boat is 65-75ft, which is still possible single-handedly and gives more living space. For the size, this boat you show is a very beautiful boat with a god layout that looks well built, and for just two people, this can definitely do the job. but if yiou can, go longer
I think we saw you guys rep AG1? If so, please consider stopping. We live outside the US for most of the year - and AG just told me It’s not possible to order 5 mos of the product (for two people) at one time. We’d have to start a monthly subscription - then do something funky after receiving the first month - blah blah blah. We will be out of the country then. How is it that they supply you guys? Or - do you really use the product ?
I am very excited about your boat, it will be great! But please don't encourage people to helm the boat from inside. In dangerous conditions that could be fatal. We were near a Chris White that flipped in the great lakes and then within about 100 mi of a Chris White that flipped in the Pacific. Both boats the crew were inside. Don't encourage people to do things that are dangerous. Have fun, be smart, sail fast!! Stray Kitty
Couldn’t agree more regarding the forward cockpit...love it. But those aft seats hanging out over the hulls...no thanks. Maybe for a pure race boat, but have fun with those seats while rafted up in the Panama Canal, or docking at some sketchy concrete dock in Mexico or Tonga or wherever...for a true world cruising boat that sees all manner of docking scenarios those seats will be a major pain. My opinion anyway...
i might be confused but E-glass is the most common type of cloth type there is. S-Glass is actually much better than E glass. and not that away from carbon fibre specs. this being the case they are mixing E glass with carbon, when they could have mixed S with carbon making for a much stiffer hull. but it would cost them more to produce......
