I'm a professional HVAC/R repair technician. I disagree. Foil tape has its purpose in the industry, but I would not recommend it for the purpose you are promoting it for. Most code enforcement inspectors would agree.
@@RefreshHomeImprovements My go to brands and types are either polyken or suretape 252 or 577 depending on the application for metal ducts, plenumns, or wrapping up flex duct. There is a foil tape that has a heavy mastic lining that works super for sealing metal ductwork that's already aged and hard to stick to surfaces. The thin foil tape you found at home depot is good for some items, but I personally would only recommend it for something like a metal dryer vent pipe. Let me say that I didn't mean any disrespect to you or to your content. I realize that most people following your channel are homeowners, weekend warriors, or even guys new to the trades just learning, so take my opinion to be worth no more than you just paid for it. I'm an old guy that's been in the trades all my life and am use to putting up with customers, contractors, inspectors, etc all the time and get burned out trying to do everything to top notch perfection. To anyone else reading this comment, he's right, for many diy task, foil tape will work just fine. I am new to your channel, but have already subscribed and look forward to watching many more of your videos as my schedule allows. As a business owner, I don't get much free time, but I really do think from what I have seen so far that you have good content. Take care and God Bless!
@@RefreshHomeImprovements Let me also say that most of the tapes I use come from HVAC pro supply shops. Not really available to the general public anyways.
