Also in "Shattered", during Maul's corridor scene, one of the clones (the one that will loose his arm) mention "Ridge is down!". During the assault on Teth in the Clone Wars movie, when the LAAT are under fire, we hear "Ridge, your com's gone static." Which means that Ridge was with Ahsoka during her first and last missions with the 501st.
In the 2008 clone wars movie during the attack on Teth, this specific group of clone from the 501st is Torrent Company (so Ridge was part of them) and after Anakin living the clone for saving Rotta the Hut the clones get surrounded by droids. At this point only 2 clones are left ; Rex and a unnamed clone. So I believe this clone is Ridge, because we now know that he survive the assault on Teth.
There’s a scene earlier in the episode with fox talking to palpatine, which implies they he might’ve directly been ordered, or at least suggested, to kill fives intentionally
That kinda got me wondering: getting demoted one rank down should be the least of worries, considering you’ve just been accused of treason against the republic punishable by death.
William C. Sierra i have a theory. There is a stormtrooper force called task force 99. Look it up, its incredible. I think they and the bad batch are one in the same. Its pretty cool
It will probably have a new animation style because, every animated show so far has had a different animation style from the last for better or for worse.
Animation and art style should not be conflated. Clone Wars and Rebels are stylised but in different ways. For Clone Wars George wanted to push boundaries of 3D animation and go for a new art style hence the more angular textures. For Rebels Dave and the team wanted to pay homage to Ralph McQuarrie concept art (thinner lightsabers, Vader's mask) and Kenner figures hence the smoother textures which is a call back to the books and figures fans in Dave's generation collected over the years and played with in sandboxes. But both shows were under the same animation supervisor and crew. Animation isn't just about budget, it's more about time and the crew working on it. Yes George heavily funded Clone Wars but it didn't go into the pockets of animators it went into developing the rendering technology. If Dave wants to tell his post-Rebels story in animation the animation team will already have access to the assets that George put funding into (that's why Rebels had more refined animation than the majority of Clone Wars, better smoke and dust animation, explosions etc.), the question of whether it will look refined or not depends solely on the time they're given and the talent of the crew and knowing Filoni he won't rush a story into production before he knows what he wants to tell.
Also, an indirect reference, Ahsoka in the war room on Mandalore says to Obi-Wan, _"Tell Anakin,"_ Obi-Wan responds "I will", and they both end it with some sort of mutual unspoken conclusion before she leaves with Rex. Then you realize that when he yells, "You were my brother, Anakin! I loved you!" in Revenge of the Sith, he does so for *both Ahsoka and himself,* saying what she would never get to say to her former Master. I'm going to miss The Clone Wars, but the finale taught us one final lesson: _Let go._
Jeffrey Zhang interesting point. Alex also theorized on a video the other day that she wanted to say may the force be with you, the thing that Obi-Wan says to Anakin The last time they speak.
One thing I loved about this season was how cool it was to see it have things from more recent canon material. I never thought we would ever see Dryden Vos in the clone wars, or get mentions of crimson dawn, but here we are.
It actually reminded me more of kanan jarrus revealing himself to be a Jedi in the pilot episode of Rebels. The way they both were physically present and subtly weaving blaster fire.
IndianaJoe0321 Cuz she had a strong natural connection with the force. Like Luke destroying the Death Star as a new pilot and first time using the force and Anakin good at almost everything naturally.
Clone force 99 is the precursor of Scar squadron in the comics with elite stormtroopers and a lightsaber wielding leader called Kreel who hunted down Luke And Maul's coffin is probably a similar device to the coffin used to store Luminara Unduli in rebels
I think we will get those episodes at some point. It will be like Star Wars the unreleased episodes. If they make them Disney will make more money off merchandise than any of the new movies
ACOGLMT556 I liked the bad batch arc a lot actually but I just feel since we as fans were waiting years for this season we should’ve gotten closer to 20 new episodes to really rap up a series that is arguably one of the best tv shows ever made. We had an arc we’ve already seen before. Ahsoka’s walkabout which was almost pointless garage. And the siege. Glad we got anything at all and I’m happy the siege was amazing arc. But I think the inclusion of Maul’s story, ventress was and cad banes at the very least would’ve truly wrapped up this series without any threads hanging loose. But that’s just me
Check Dave Filoni instagram, he posted art refering to that almost a year ago. I honestly am disapointed that this channel didnt check that, it shows how shallow their research is, because all the answers are there!
I feel like Maul's new double bladed saber should be a combo of his old saber and Savage's saber. I feel like that would have more meaning. Still a good looking saber though.
In the final episode you can see the show’s first appearance of the Alpha Nimbus-class V-wing Starfighters seen in ROTS being barely visible in the background of the lower hangar deck.
6:15 I would want to add that Kessels "nice side" and the palace they go to are heavily inspired by India, making the Indiana Jones conection even more obvious.
Also, in the very last Episode, Darth Maul (voiced by Sam Witwer aka Starkiller) brought down a Stardestroyer with the force, just like Starkiller. Even though it was not exactly the same, it was a more toned down, realistic version, suitable for canon. I wonder whether it was on purpose. Also also, Ahsoka falling alongside the Venator reminded me a lot of The Force Unleashed II.
That never clicked for me, about Maul doing the same thing as Starkiller. It was just "Ayo! Maul pulled a whole Star Destroyer outta hyperspace!" (Obvious overhyping) but thanks
in the ziro the hutt anecdote, Trace mentions Luminara Unduli, right? and I think it was a nice touch to keep her character consistent by still being that rigid, tainted jedi that kind of symbolized how lost from their original ways the jedi were during the clone wars, as she demonstrated similar behaviors during seasons 1 and 2
Another reference for you, I think: that shot of y-wings, present in this video where you point out that they are referred to as gold squadron (around 3:55) is, I believe, a recreation of the a new Hope concept painting of y wings attacking the Death Star.
Yes, I spotted that too. It's from a concept painting by the Legendary Ralph mcquarrie. I've been looking through all my Star Wars books (and I have a lot) to try to find it. Oh, how I regret selling my original Ralph mcquarrie portfolios many years ago now.
@@CaptainM792 There are also 2 different yellow ones. The one that Anakin flew and the one that the rest of Shadow Squadron flew during the Malevolance arc
I love when Rex gets demoted from Commander for treason, "I didn't like being commander anyway...", which is why he refers to himself as Captain, again, during Rebels.
So THAT’S what happened to R7! Man, what a coincidence huh? That he just so happens to be stationed on the Venator that Anakin gives to Ahsoka. Or maybe, Anakin kept R7 around, as a reminder of his lost Padawan??
Or more realistically, before becoming Ahsoka's mech, he was one of the many droids stationed in Anakin's ships, meaning that just because Ahsoka is no longer her master doesn't mean he'll be thrown out, he's basically an asset.
There are three background characters that are based on original Kenner toys throughout the martez sister arc. Most notably in the first episode but the Iotian(?) is part of the prison break later on
One other easter egg I didn’t notice till I saw Star Force One’s vid was the droid RG-G1 (GiGi), has the class name and dark green with gold stripes paint job seen on GG1 class of locomotives used by the Pennsylvania Railroad.
There were lots of parallels of Old Friends Not Forgotten, the last arc's first episode, to the 1st parts of the 2008 Clone Wars film. Battle of Christphsis vs Yerbana, with the jetpacks, huge spider droids and the pretend surrender though from Anakin instead. Ahsoka coming down from the ship. Ahsoka, Rex and the men having a small happy moment with Anakin on the side. Also Ahsoka racing Anakin to the monk monastery on Teth vs Ahsoka and Rex racing to the surface of Mandalore
"I am one with the Force. The Force will guide me." The Clone Wars, S05E06 "The Gathering" I recently rewatched that episode and one of the padawans looking for her crystal meditates with the phrase, "I am one with the Force. The Force will guide me." Talk about having a bit of a "Wow" moment, as this episode was produced probably a year before the Disney purchase, and several more before Rogue One. Did someone in the story group remember that TCW line and modify it for R1? Is it a coincidence? Either way, it's very cool and helps tie the saga together.
In the Rebels episode ‘The World Between Worlds’ when Ahsoka first addresses Mori and she flies to her arm, you can hear the voice of the Daughter say “I am the Daughter”.
In "Dangerous Debt" when Rafa is telling Ahsoka about how their parents died. She mentions the Jedi that came over to her saying "I'll never forget it, she was beautiful dark robes contrasting against her light green skin, penetrating eyes, she looked at me and said 'I had to make a choice, but not to worry, the Force will be with you.'"" Its speculation of course, but I am under the impression that this was Jedi Master Luminara Unduli. The description really fits her, and the attitude toward losing a loved one is quite similar to her attitude when its was believed her apprentice Barris Offee and Ahsoka Tano were thought dead/dying on Genosis. It is just speculation but I think its quite possible it was Unduli.
There were possibly two subtle 2001: A Space Odyssey references: the cage Maul is being kept in - which resembles the monolith and HAL's faceplate - and then the following shot where he sees Ahsoka and Bo Katan talking with no audio, just as HAL was watching Dave Bowman and Frank Poole conspiring againt him while they were inside the space pod.
In the opening scene of "Shattered," Bo Katan and Asoka talk about how Mandalore needs a different kind of leader, while they look at the "Peace Park" that was bombed in "The Duchess of Mandalore" episode in the Clone Wars This bombing was the first event we see in Mandalore in Star Wars Canon and is seen as the start of the militant era of Death Watch. Now the monument is a smoldering reminder of Duchess Satine and the collapse of the New Mandalorian peace, showing what theyr were trying to avoid.
I’m pretty sure the music in the episode 9 of season 7, the first episode of this arc, when Anakin pulls his false surrender, they use music from return of the Jedi as a reference to Luke’s false surrender against Jabba.
The hooded person on the Mando holding cell that is standing next to what could be Tar Vizla could be Revan from his time as a jedi during the Mandalorian wars.
The droid "GG" seen in the last 2 episodes is actually based on a train called the Pennsylvania Railroad GG1. The official name of the droid as seen in concept art is "RG-G1" and it's got the same shape, color, and gold pin striping as the locomotive. If you look up "GG1 locomotive" you'll see the resemblance immediately.
In the second episode of the Siege of Mandalore arc, when everyone walks in to see Maul sitting on the throne, it's reminiscent of the Empire Strikes Back scene where all the heroes are surprised to see the Sith Lord sitting calmly on a chair. Then Bo-Katann/Han fires their blaster, which is easily defeated by the Sith.
When Ashoka arrives with Bo Katan to meet with Anakin and Obi-wan. I think that is a scene recreated to mirror the very first time they met Ahsoka. As she steps of her shuttle.
I thought this about the Darth Vader scene in The clone wars finale: In the last scene with Vader , the sister (morai) is flying over. She is the living embodiment of the light side and Vader turns his back on it but he doesn’t leave it all behind, he takes Ahsoka’s lightsaber with him which symbolises that he hadn’t fully turned to the dark side. I think Ashoka’s lightsabers represent the fact that there was always a slither of light in Anakin and it just needed a push from Luke to fully stand out.
The light on Maul’s eyes is a lighting technique often used in American film noir, most notably in In A Lonely Place by Nicholas Ray. Im sure this was on purpose since Dave has often said George made everyone watch a lot of movies
Although Gar Saxon was introduced by name in The Son of Dathomir, I believe we got our first look at him in Season 5 of The Clone Wars as the "Mauldolorian" who punched Korkie and captured Satine after they tried to escape in The Lawless. The helmet is very similar (the spikes are distinctive), he could have upgraded his armour and added the glowing visor later as he rose through the ranks.
The shot of Wat Tambor at 3m34s of this video reminds me of the scene in The Shawshank Redemption where the warden discovers Andy Dufresne's escape tunnel behind the poster. Even Wat Tambor's eyes look like the warden's spectacles.
During the first episode of season 7, after the Clones and the Bad Batch are shot down and destroy the initial responding squad of Droids, a Super Tactical Droid lands with a handful of B-X Series Commando Droids in escort to survey the damage, causing him to contact Admiral Trench directly to relay the situation. He tells Trench that these particular Clones happened to be using tactics they'd never seen before, to which the Admiral asks him whether or not he thought that a Jedi was accompanying them. He answers, "No, just Clones." And Admiral Trench responds, "Interesting. They're on foot now and alone in the woods. Locate these Clones and inform me if the incursion escalates." It's made pretty clear that the whole reason behind bringing in the Bad Batch for this particular mission was because the Droid Army had been analyzing their battle tactics and using them to predict their movements with increasing success. Bringing in a Squad of Clones who naturally DON'T adhere to any set style, standard, or method that the Droids would be able to predict is precisely what the Clones needed to do in order to pull off the mission that gets to the heart of that advantage. It's actually quite brilliant storytelling, really. There's so many little nuances and story beats, things fundamental to the very reason any given character does anything at all, showing their motivations better than most movies that have dropped recently, even in the Star Wars Universe. It's a testament to the exceptional thought that goes in to making each episode, so much so that some aspects tend to go right over most people's heads entirely lol I haven't heard anyone mentioning that little detail about the Bad Batch arc, until I was just re-watching it again and it suddenly became clear. Anyways, I was so obviously impacted by the realization, apparently I just HAD to come and share it here lol in this comment section, where it may go by completely unnoticed anyway! Fingers crossed I guess!🤞
She may have perished when the Empire removed Bo-Katan as the leader of Mandalore (shortly after the creation of the Empire); as when Bo-Katan rallies together the Mandalorian Resistance, a different woman is portrayed as the leader of Clan Rook and says “Clan Rook is with you”.
During Maul and Ahsoka's first battle this season, the second Maul ignited his saber and goes in, you can hear Palpatine's creepy shout from revenge of the sith when he jumped Windu and the rest of the jedi
I don’t know if Anakin being above Coruscant means Ahsoka’s Walkabout takes place before Anaxes. Anaxes could have just ended and Anakin was resupplying before heading back to the Sieges.
It’s literally impossible as sisters arc takes place hours before the mandalore arc. Bad batch takes place before, he missed a bunch of things in the breakdown so it’s not the only mistake.
@@LEGO_GrandAdmiral It also doesn't make sense for him to be on Coruscant either. In ROTS he said something along the lines of If the chancellor wasn't kidnapped I wouldn't be back from the outer rim sieges. I feel like if he went to coruscant even just to resupply he would make some excuse to leave his ship to go see Padme. It really doesn't make sense either way and you can probably make excuses for both.
@@Wedge_Khan ok? but you realize that different places can use different calendars, and that could be possible with it also being the year 4012 in the star wars universe?
The voice of the astromech droid Ahsoka named Cheep was voiced by series director, David Filoni. This is a called back to Rise of Skywalker where the droid D-O was voiced by the movie's director, J.J. Abrams.
Nah Dave also voiced Chopper in Rebels. Also, animation takes for fricken ever so the decision for Dave to voice cheep would've been done long before JJ voiced D-0.
I may be the only person that noticed this, but Rex’s password for his grievance report is 8-10-8, which was the release date for the Clone Wars movie. August 10th, 2008
In the episode "Shattered" Ahsoka tells the droid to use Anaken's code 8108 which is the theatrical release date of the Clone Wars Movie August, 10th 2008. The first time we meet Ahsoka.
Bobby Monaghan is also the voice of Louie from the current version of DuckTales. Dave Filoni is also the voice of Cheep making the second time he voice a Droid. First of course being Chopper
I think the lightsaber is actually Ventress'. She did use a lightsaber identical to that in Dark Disicple but we didn't see it... For very obvious reasons as it's a novel. Ventress was the last of the nightsisters (Not counting Merrin who hid herself away from the outside world) meaning that the nightbrothers would die out as having no females left on their planet. Something which Maul tells us eventually happened in Rebels. Meaning that Ventress was the last (to his knowledge) Nightsister, and Maul would become the last Nightbrother, meaning that the saber represents Dathomir as a whole. The saber was also likely left on Dathomir with her corpse, a place which we learn that Maul visited often, so it is likely that he turned the crystal from yellow to red and treated it as the other half of his new blade
Someone commented in another video that the location of the Venator crash is one of the moons of bogden, which is actually where Dooku recruited jango. It ended where it all started, nice touch from Filoni
I like the fact that when we see Vader , the lenses in his helmet are still red so that is telling us it is still pretty early on for him in the suit because we see in the comics when he swaps the lenses out for the regular ones.
I can’t remember where I heard it from, but apparently the planet Ashoka and Rex crash on is the same planet that Dooku recruited Jango Fett, ending the clone wars where it began
I noticed that in the scene where Ashoka and maul fight, when the fight starts and maul attacks, he makes the same yell/scream that palp makes when he fights the jedi council...
Wait, I don't understand. If Anakin's appearance above Coruscant in the Ahsoka's Walkabout Arc is meant to show that it occurred before the events of the Bad Batch Arc, during which he was WAY out in the Outer Rim Territories at Anaxes, then how does the Ahsoka's Walkabout Arc lead directly into the final Siege of Mandalore Arc? How can Ahsoka's Walkabout take place BEFORE both the Bad Batch AND Siege of Mandalore Arcs, especially since the Siege of Mandalore is meant to be the very last Arc of episodes tying directly into Revenge of the Sith?! Unless Anakin somehow makes it from that Ship with Admiral Yularen all the Way out to Anaxes to take part in the Rescue of Echo and then back again in time for Ahsoka and Bo Katan to find him and Obi-Wan?! I don't know lol now my head hurts! 🤣
Why was R7 with Rex and Ahsoka at the end of the episode at the burial site? Also, they reference Shaak Ti defending Palpatine on Coruscant, possibly bringing the 2003 clone wars story into the canon. Also, we see a Falleen with Maul and Dryden Vos.
Another connection, or "Easter Egg"; The Clone "Ninety-Nine," who had suffered numerous genetic and physical defects aa result of being malformed during the Cloning process and subsequently deemed unfit for service in the Army, instead providing janitorial and maintenance work in the Kaminoan Cloning facility made his first appearance in the amazing, "Domino Squad" arc, in which the Clones "Fives," "Hevy," "Cut-Up," "Droidbait," and "Echo," were shown as Clone Cadets during the final phases of their training prior to deployment. Ninety-Nine was instrumental in helping the squad overcome their adversities, allowing them to successfully graduate, instead of being considered a "Bad Batch" by one of the members, Cut-Up. And their first real mission was at a Republic Army listening station outpost on the Rishi Moon. Unfortunately, only two Clones would survive when the Separatists assaulted the Rishi Moon outpost, Echo and Fives. An assault that was necessary for the preparation of a larger Separatist attack on the Kaminoan Cloning facility itself, where Ninety-Nine would give his life while helping his Clone brothers mount a successful defense, and Fives and Echo would be recognized by Captain Rex and Commander Cody for their heroism and be awarded by being promoted to Arc Trooper status by Generals Obi-wan and Anakin Skywalker. The two connections are; The Domino Squad referring to themselves as a "Bad Batch" and the Clone Ninety-Nine, which is the official name for the Bad Batch we see in season 7, who are called in to help Captain Rex mount a rescue of the last remaining surviving member of Domino Squad, Echo. 👍😊
G-G was a reference to Gigi Bryant. G-G's first appearance is May 1, 2020 and Gigi Bryant's birthday is May 1, 2006. G-G's plate color, which is gold and black, is a reference to Gigi's jersey color which is black and Kobe's jersey color which is Gold.
