I think he adds some interesting nuance to the rebel alliance, it makes the organization feel more realistic and diverse. His methods tend to be much more violent than those normally employed by the rebels, which brings up debates about the distinction between a "terrorist" and a "freedom fighter", but at the same time, he is also shown to be a more proactive guerrilla fighter than the rebels who follow the leadership of politicians like Mon Mothma. Jyn Erso, who was practically raised by Saw, did exactly what he would do and defied the orders given to her in Rogue One, which led to the _critically important_ recovery of the Death Star plans, something the rebel alliance would have never done if they didn't have people like Jyn and like Saw in their midst. So yeah, interesting character that has been used well, he's the bloodied hand of the alliance, as opposed to the gentle, helping hand offered by Mon Mothma.

@Joe Iorio the official episode guide just claims it’s a commando that “was designed to resemble” him, so they’re not saying it is or isn’t him. Personally I think it’s kinda stupid that they would go that far with his model but not just confirm that it’s him.

Yeah, with him being the most developed clone outside of Rex and maybe Fives in TCW, him being relegated to the background for most of this season is a disappointment in a show that I otherwise enjoyed. I think the most he did all season was a B plot in one episode where he was mistaken for a droid. I hope he at least gets a spotlight episode in season 2.

@@Compucles I don’t know, but you can look up an insignia guide. It clearly shows that governor and grand moff have the same insignia.

I don't know what droid it's supposed to be, but R7 appears in both white, green and red AND the black and gold within the same episode. The shot used in this video is hasn't been updated (18:19 of the episode), but when the Martez sisters contact Rex at the end of the episode, then R7 is black and gold (20:26). Really annoyed me when I saw it.

@@StickAKAMatthew I'm aware. That is the original glitched version. The episode has been redone to have both scenes with the black and gold droid. The black and gold one is the correct texture.

Until Zahn wrote the canon series Thrawn and Thrawn: Ascendancy, "Thrawn trilogy" was a perfectly reasonable way to refer to Zahn's original trilogy. He is clearly referring to it when he said "Legends Thrawn trilogy", especially because there aren't any other Thrawn trilogies in Legends, only a duology and a smattering of other books like Outbound Flight
