During a relatively short stint with the Yankees Didi became a fan favorite for many reasons. Hitting big home runs was one of them. Here are 10 of his best in pinstripes. Didi Bop
Zach Freeburn now ur judging some1 by their accolades, what amateur sports fans do. Look at his stats: UZR: -66.1(3rd worst in the past 30 years) DRS: -152 (literally the worst defender since 2003 and 51 worst than 2nd place) You can’t argue about that
@@ethan3949 he's not the best. He was still a solid defender in his prime. The defensive metrics weren't really used until 2010 when Jeter was in his mid-late 30s. Obviously a 36+ year old short stop isn't going to do what 23 year olds can do. Simple to think of really.
One of the most underrated Yankees during his time there. Always overshadowed by the publicity that guys like Judge and Stanton were getting, when in reality, he was doing better than them sometimes.
Sir Didi I loved you as a yankee and I will miss you honestly it sucks the business part didn’t let you return with all the upcoming young Yankees in the farm system you really deserve a standing ovation your first at bat at Yankee stadium !! I’ll be at that game
@@michaelkiernan9606 he hits it way father than the short porch like the one he hit against the twins was 369ft which would have been out of 95% of mlb ballparks. And the one he hit against the rays on 07/16/08 was 410ft
I was at the 2017 wildcard game. My second game I went to at Yankee Stadium as a Yankee fan. Didi will always have a special place in my heart. I really hope he does well /enjoy it at Philly. I want nothing but the best for him
It was my 2nd. Even better was i had my Didi jersey on and it landed 10 rows in front of me. Of course i stopped filming the at bat when he went down 0-2 cause i didn't think he was going to do anything
I was at the #9 game and was that ever an electrifying reaction and great experience till this day I can remember that game and the crack of the bat! Best game I’ll ever go to!
You are very lucky Didi is a great player only a few players go to another level in big spots Didi is one of those few players I’m pissed of at cashman and his fucken metrics for letting Didi go
He had so many huge hits as a Yankee i can't believe they just let him walk. They should of left Torres at 2b and Dj at 1b. I'm not sold on Voit not to mention he is not the clutch hitter Didi has proven to be.
I remember when he blasted home runs every at bat with the AAA Reno Aces, my home team. I was surprised when the Diamondbacks traded him to NY, but he ended up blasting even more. #1 on the Aces, #18 for the Yankees, he's still a great player.
The three hardest things to do as a New York Yankee are. 1. Perform in October 2. Replace a Legend 3. Deal with the Stress of NY Media He did all three and he did them brilliantly... and you know the rest
@K A a 210 batting average in the playoffs you mean that one series!! And he was not the only Yankees hitter to come up with Runners on base and fail the whole team did. Not to mention every scouting baseball says Torres does not have the range to play shortstop and during spring training it was made quite evident that that was true. Without Didi Gregorius there is no 2017 run to the ALCS. If you're talkin about 2019 he was injured for most of the Season just like the rest of the team. Sorry you can't single out Didi Gregorius and say he's the reason the Yankees didn't make the World Series that's ridiculous the whole team couldn't hit off a tee with Runners on base in the alcs. And I guess those two home runs hit in game 5 of the 2017 ALDS they don't matter either right that was going to Cleveland by the way not Minnesota.
@K A they should have kept Didi at shortstop put DJ lemahieu at first base like they did all last year. Or are you gonna tell me now that Voit is a better hitter then Didi??
@@billshamrock449 Voit's contract makes him more valuable... he's not a free agent until 2025 and will make almost nothing between now and then... he's a good enough hitter to justify letting Didi go so as to spend money on areas of real need (like getting Cole). If you are going to limit your spending (which the Yankees are intent on doing), you cannot buy the best talent for every single position.
@@pidayrocks2235 yea but Didi does something Voit will never do and that's hit from the left side. The Yanks had the money to give Didi a 2 year deal. I'm not saying we are lost without him but let's not act like he is not a loss either.
Overall great asset from Arizona but he rlly never felt like a permanent jeter replacement. Torres while not drafted by NYY came up in the system and fits in much better with that smoother feel and the strongest pull ball hitter I've ever seen
Yankee fan all my life, sat in bleachers for a quarter in the Original Yankee Stadium so many years ago, and all I can say is either there is some underlying, unpublished reason for letting him go, or the Yankees think tank geniuses took a fastball to the head and lost their mind's.
Yankees should've NEVER, signed Cole to that astronomical contract! They don't re-sign Didi but give this dude over 300 million?! Haven't they learned from signing A-Rod to his then, monster contract?! Smdh 😣
Favorite yankee by far they will miss him too on and off the field. When gio comes back to earth , when Torres starts to get fatter and fatter and judge Sanchez and Stanton are striking out at record pace voit is nothing tachman I mean come on there's no reason in the world they couldn't give him a one year deal to see if he's back totally after Tommy John or if he is truly on the decline. Whenever there is baseball I'll be driving to philly with my didi Jersey on. Fuck Cashman
Didi has hit .346 with a .996 OPS with the bases loaded. 5 grand slams and 3 walks, that's the kind of hitter I love to watch. And I don't like the Yankees
