This week we drove through dust, wind and record breaking rain storms to the outskirts of LA to camp in Simi Valley California where we tried to make cast iron cookies over the firepit and ran into a few unsuspecting visitors at camp!

Bro. You've had the gfc what maybe a year and stuffs Fallin off. Not a good look for them Anyway, you were 20 minutes from my house. Thanks for sharing that spot I never knew simi had a campground so close to me. Definitely checking it out. Too funny about the rat and tarantula 😂😂😂. Have a good week Dave

yeah pretty bummed about the window but luckily GFC Support has been helpful, they got back to me with a few different options to repair it (I repair, they repair or I take it to be repaired). I'm going with the option for me to repair it for now and if that fails i'll have to drive to San Diego to get it repaired at the shop there (not too bummed about that bec we love going to San Diego lol) but still a pain. And thats funny! definitely check that campground out, the spots are huge and everyone there was awesome and super friendly! Thanks for watching David!

Your video screams drone views too, your travels would be cool with some aerials.

Thanks! I actually do have a drone its just such a pain to setup and get into the air so I rarely ever use it. I do agree it would be a great option to add to the videos though, Thanks for watching!

Hi Kaden, another great video thanks for all you do! So I'm curious what the bread was for your sandwich and where you got it from, silly question I know lol. We're in Henderson, NV too, originally from England, and it looked very similar to our fave English bread.
@Kadenventures

Thank you Elaine! Glad you enjoy the videos :) This was a sour dough bread we got from Albertsons, we actually bought this bread twice bec its SOO good on sandwiches lol the brand is called Goldminer Sourdough www.brookshires.com/sm/pickup/rsid/1928/product/goldminer-square-bread-sourdough-id-00039677071129 Hopefully it tastes as good as your English Bread! We were in England in 2019 for our Honeymoon and had a blast there! Hoping to explore more of the country one day

Being out in nature is great... until nature shows up😁 For the amount of time you spend camping in the desert it's crazy you've never seen a tarantula!? I worked at a paintball field in CA and they were everywhere. They are completely harmless. I would always pick them up and freak out the kids having birthday parties at the field... good times. Sucks about the GFC. I would imagine it's under warranty, but what a P.I.T.A. Cheers Mang!
@Kadenventures
@Kadenventures 9 месяцев назад
lol right? I'm also surprised we've yet to see a tarantula at camp, I was fully expecting it dispersed camping but not in a campground lol! I used to have a pet Rose Hair Tarantula but I honestly never held it lol It is under warranty luckily, they are sending a repair kit (which i opted for) the other option would be me uninstalling the tent from the GFC frame and sending it to them to repair and send back and then i'd have to re-install the tent, (P.I.T.A indeed lol) i'm not about to sit outside in 100 degree for a few hours trying to get this tent off lol so hopfully the repair kit option works, if not, i'm going to option 2 which is heading down to San Diego to have the GFC team there uninstall/re-install a new tent. Thanks for watching J!

Any reason you rarely use the 270? Rain seems like the perfect time for it.
@Kadenventures
@Kadenventures 9 месяцев назад
Ykno, I was thinking about setting up the 270 which would have helped but the reason why I didnt is because I didnt want to have to open it up again later to dry it out afterwards. When we got to our hotel that night with our friends, I popped the tent open to dry it out but parking was so cramped I wouldnt have been able to open the 270 to let it dry too. So i opted for me to get wet and keep the 270 dry hahah

What version is your GFC? We have a V2. We’ve camped several times in heavy rain, and recently it rained all night and we never had any leakage at all.
@Kadenventures
@Kadenventures 8 месяцев назад
I have the v2 but its the older v2 isntall back in Oct 2021. The hardware is a bit newer now with the latest v2 models so that may be why we saw some leaks in the tent (and we dont camp in rain often lol) Thanks for watching Mike!

Did you ever figure out the origin of the leak? I had to shoe goo the corners of mine, they were leaking. Also question: is your awning no good in the rain? Bummer about the window zipper.
@JohnLaFosse

I just texted him about mine a few episodes ago. Still haven't gotten around to fixing it. Ironic.
@Kadenventures
@Kadenventures 9 месяцев назад
Unfortunately i'm still not sure where those leaks came from within the tent, We packed up pretty quick and I didnt stick around outside to find out why or where it was coming from outside the tent. So more to come, i'll be sure to pay more attention to it, these last few trips are some of the first times I've used the GFC in the rain, we are spoiled out in Vegas and dont see this much rain often lol

Hope GFC is watching. They need to do better on design and quality, especially for the price.
@JohnLaFosse
@JohnLaFosse 9 месяцев назад
It's an alpha but it's worth it for the price. I use mine everyday and it pays for itself time after time. I hope they will take critique and make it a better camper but $8000 is about right for what it is. After a little over a year with mine, my life is evolving around it and I keep examining different configurations for how I can live in it and with it.
@Kadenventures
@Kadenventures 9 месяцев назад
yeah I do agree for the price and what you get its worth it compared to other campers on the market that are over 8k. I did contact GFC Support and they got back to me within a day with a few solutions to repair it - 1. Have me remove the tent, send it to them to repair and they will send it back to me for me to re-install the tent. 2. They send the tent to a dealer and I get the dealer to install the tent for me (San Diego would be the closest GFC shop near vegas) or 3. send me repair tools for me to try and repair it (heat gun, needle/thread, etc). I opted for option 3 bec its 100+ degrees right now and dont want to sit outside trying to remove the tent (it takes about 2/3 hours to do especially since this would be my first time removing it on my own), my second pick would be to head to San Diego to get it repair which is the backup if this seam repair fails. I'll put a video together of this 3rd option to repair the seam to show what the process looks like and will document how well the repair functions/lasts. Overall though GFC support was very easy to work with and communicated timely which was good. more to come!

I really dig GFCs whole motto! They seem like a great company, I can’t wait for them to eventually dial this camper in. If it wasn’t for the fact that I see more people complaining and trying to justify their problems about their GFC than not. I probably would’ve already bought one by now. I think it’s kind of a turn off for most to pay a premium price for a product that is pretty bare bones (which I get is intentional) and has some valid issues.
@Popcornbeetle
@Popcornbeetle 9 месяцев назад
@@sevynblanes agreed good company that needs to keep upping their game to justify the price. While RTTs are an easier market to get into, look how cheap ($1000-$2000) full alum hard shell RTTs have gotten while the more expensive ones are innovating more and more to differentiate.

Lone peak is a good option! I also see they have 5ft Nissan Frontier beds available now, at the time I had heard about them (within the last year) I didnt see a Frontier option available.
