Harley Davidson is the king of Motorcycles for a reason but does that reign extend down to local dealers? Follow along as I take a day trip and go inside my dealership to see what happens. #harleydavidson #motovlog #dealer
man I can't stand being bugged as soon as I walk into a store....I like to be left alone and will ask a question if I have one... this would have been an ideal experience for me
Those two couples are doing some serious riding! As far as waiting to be greeted or asked if you need assistance, I actually prefer to be left alone when walking around the dealerships. Sometimes they can be overwhelming. But I do get the point!
I spent more than 10 minutes in the local dealership before I was approached by a sales person. Didn’t bother me though because I like to scope things out without having someone on my hip or looking over my shoulder.
@@coreycallahan7443 10 minutes is a long time. At my local dealerships, it's more like 10 seconds. I prefer to be left alone, unless I have a question about something.
Wow! It’s amazing how that people who have nothing in common with you and would never even acknowledge you if it’s wasn’t for motorcycle riding. That’s what I love about riding and meeting people.
FYI, some sales folks leave you alone if they see you recording your walkthrough out of respect to not interrupt your vlogging. As others have suggested, some dealerships have a policy to leave you alone until you ask for assistance so you don't feel pressured. I don't know what happened here exactly, but hey...just a thought. That said, I've been in bad dealership too, so it can definitely go both ways.
Bro, I garrentee you would have gotten all the assistance you wanted if you had started one of those joints up. 🤣 Good conversation with the Canadian Riders.
You turned a negative situation into a positive one brother. Not sure why some dealers (or people) are like that. But talking to those folks from Canada was awesome. Now you got me researching the million dollar hwy when I ride out to Nevada.
To see the positive encounter at the end was phenomenal. That's what riding is all about - not the shenanigans and foolishness. But, I always say the tables have turned. No harm, no foul - no pun intended.
I’ve had the same experience at several HD dealerships. The same thing happened at the HD booth at Daytona bike week. If you’ve got an Indian dealership near by swing by. Every time I go to an Indian dealership. They’re on it! The last time I went into the Daytona Indian shop. The owner of the shop gave us a tour of the shop. Spent about a half hour with us.
This has been my same experience. I've only been to one harley shop where they even acknowledged that I was in the store. Indian on the other hand just has better customer service.
Funny this video came up on my line, I actually had the same experience happen to me when I went into my local HD. Stood at the counter for I know a minimum of 5 minutes, and no one offered. I just lefted, feeling a certain way, and assumed they was just waiting on me to ask for assistance🤷♂️
Go to Gator Harley in Leesburg FL I have always had great service there. It was recommended by friends. Very friendly and helpful. They also sell there bikes at a decent price. I highly recommend them.
I'm standing united and in agreement with you Bro on this one. I prefer to be Acknowledged and offered Assistance if needed it and left alone to browse and/or make a purchase. I turn around and walk out of the door and leave if I'm not acknowledged. The couples were pretty awesome and very friendly. I enjoy meeting authentic and good informative people. Blessings!
That’s actually awesome for a dealership. I love it when I go into a dealership and they don’t jack with you. That’s a sign of a quality dealership in my opinion.
I have walked in to a dealership check in pocket two salesman discussing jet ski they didn't even speak guess they thought I was just kicking tires I took my check on to another dealership female greeted me showed my around made the sale. My dad told me a long time ago never beg anyone to take your money 💰
Most new vehicles purchasers prefer to be left alone when looking around. If you have a request, make your request. You have described the perfect experience in a dealership.
A simple hello in a few minutes works for me and that seems to be the normal time I've experianced locally and on the road. Thank you for sharing your experience, actually an odd amount of time from your dealership though.
Great video. I prefer not being hounded when I hit the dealerships but you have a great attitude and it was nice seeing you meet and chat up the snow birds from BC.
Don’t take that as disrespect! I did too at first, but I later found out that’s a Harley thing! They like to let you shop without being harassed or pressured. Been to many shops and their all the same, but once you request assistance I’ve always had the greatest support from them. And meeting other riders and swapping travel stories is always a plus!
Unless you’re checking out the dealers in Orlando. Man, you don’t even get off your bike in already around you like sharks in the water. The dealers in the Orlando area turn their sales team every 90 days. Crazy, more turnover the copier company.
I went to our local Dairy Queen a few years ago and was planning on buying a pretty good $$$ amount. I stood there for at leat 10 minutes with 2 girls at the counter and kitchen folks standing there playing grab ass. Never even asked anything. Went to a Suzuki dealer the other day and man walked in and asked what I be shown, looking for parts. She took me over to parts and waited there till the parts folks showed. Great service!!
Great video as always. Bikers nationality is the best. I always love how the similar interest of humans can unite us more than many other things. “Humankind” This experience is what makes being a Harley-Davison owner Priceless. No matter how a Harley looks or runs the best feature of the bike is the doors to hearts and minds that it opens and the relationships the it creates.
I think as long as you're on two wheels, that's what counts, not so much the brand of bike you ride. we are a small group and need to band together to protect this interest of ours.
I PROMISE you not every dealership is like that (which I'm sure you know). There are dealerships that treat you like Family (not just HD) and actually WANT your business. EIGHT freakin minutes is INSANE!!!! Thanks for sharing the Canadian encounter EH! LOL Hopefully, I'll get to link up with you at the 120th! "...brought together by this culture." A-FREAKING-MEN!!!!!
Yeah I know. Nobody can tell me anything bad about some dealerships and others I wouldn't touch with a 10ft pole. At the end of the day we all deserve courtesy and to treat each other with respect. We have more in common with each other than we think. Thank you for stopping by !
@@JustGKue I'll say it again. GQ rode in on a bike with Harley gear on. On average the salesmen are a bit slower to serve if they think that you might just be looking. Sit on one though and you'll almost always get service. S
Great video. When worked at HD, it was expected that we engage customers. If I saw someone in the dealership, I talk with them, then direct them to who/where they could get what they needed. You trip next summer sounds awesome. I have ridden to all of those places. Don’t know your routing, but if you can work riding Hwy 12, then 95 in Utah as you travel from Zion to the Million Dollar Hwy you won’t regret it. You could also drop through Monument Valley on the way to Durango to ride the Million Dollar Highway.
@@JustGKue See 2LaneLife's 2021 day 2 trip to Sturgis on RU-vid to get a feel for that ride.... gotta find 20 to 30 minutes to watch it. Or Thrashin Supplies video of the same.
My baby going in to the Harley dealership to get checked out tomorrow so I won’t bad mouth them too bad yet 😂 but heard a while ago a lot of the smaller dealerships are being bought by big corps. so customer service is always the first to suffer but my brother you are a beast with that camera/content period… from the narrations to the edits… Salute
When lived in NC I visited a Harley dealership and was ignored but when the other people came in OFC they were greeted and assisted. Conversely, when I moved to LV, NV and went to Harley they greeted me and I bought a Fatboy
I am a 60 year old white male and I have been riding since 1972. I have noticed the customer service every year since then has dropped off to nothing or close to it. I live in the Washington D.C metro area and there were four dealers. Every time I have ridden to those dealers on my Electra Glide Ultra Classic to pick up something usually from the parts department I have spent time looking at the motorcycles in the showroom. I have done this many times to include the dealer where I bought my bike at and I can't remember a time when someone asked me, can I help you with something. I take care of myself and don't look like a bum when I go into places out in public. It's the same with car dealers. As well as many other places of business. The bottom line is the customer service sucks in the retail business. Many people don't have pride in the jobs they have. And that is reflected right back to the customer when it comes to service. It's only going to get worse before it gets any better.
We were at a dealership in Columbus Ohio never was greeted or anything we watched as others walked in and was immediately greeted with a friendly hello and welcome it wasn't until the girl in the clothing department overheard me say something to my wife about it as we were leaving it was very disappointing because we found someone really nice gear but we refuse to spend our money anywhere that has poor customer service
I worked at a Honda dealer in the 80s and if a person came into the showroom we made damn sure they got help or assistance within minutes. That dealer looked like a ghost town, I can’t believe how many bikes were in there with such little staff… and not willing to lift a finger to help.
I went to Low Country Harley Davidson in Charleston,SC a couple of weeks ago and was in there for over 30 mins and went thru every department, and passed by several employees and ABSOLUTELY NO ONE SPOKE TO ME! I travel a lot and stop by HD Dealers when I do and I must say that doesn't happen very often. Keep pushing bruh, love your content!
@@TheBaldDog32 LOL... actually he was the first person I saw when I thru the doors and he looked me right in face and kept talking to the other employee working there. Both of them said nothing to me.
How Long should you wait to be greeted in a dealership? Let me know! Also check out my ride to Canada 🇨🇦 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-roqeAnNnKp4.html
in Madison WI, they have a desk at the front door that is staffed and they greet you, salesman will see if you need any help if you start wandering in the bikes. when your in Milwaukee come on over and check them out and drop me a note I'll ride over would be great to meet you.
I started riding a year and half ago. My first not so great experience was at Tifton Harley Davidson. We went there to participate in their Spring Fling Event We quickly realized we were not welcomed. The second experience was when my husband's bike broke down. We called Killer Creek and Falcons Fury during business hours to let them know his bike was in limp mode and we were going to try and make it to their location. Both locations told us they didn't have any openings and they wouldn't even be able to look at the bike. The Harley here is ok but they can use a class on customer service. I will not let them service my bike anymore they installed a few things wrong. So far the only HD I feel like goes above and beyond and provides great service is Macon (GA) HD.
It used to be you could walk into your local dealer and they'd greet you by name. Now the turnover is so great you'll rarely see the same people twice. It seems like now it's either what you experienced, or you get mobbed by sales personnel trying to hump your leg like a beagle puppy. Going to the local dealer for me was at one time more of a social event, rides met there, ended there and it was a place to hang out and talk with people from everywhere that came through. Normally while I didn't necessarily buy much, I usually bought something. Now unless I'm looking for something I can't find online, I rarely stop by. Granted it is a fine line between being friendly and feeling like you're in Trusty Joe's used car dealership. You never know what is going to trigger a sale. I bought my last bike after someone mentioned how much they liked the color. My reply was I wasn't all that impressed with it and was told I should see it in the sunlight. I told the owner (yes at that time I knew him) to run it outside. He did and I bought it.
That is a joke man. I would greet anyone at the door with a smile and polite chat, and can I help you with anything. True customer service is hard to find anymore. Have a good day.
It's cool, I understand wondering why no one even asked if you needed assistance, myself I've been riding since I was 12 I'm 59 now, I do like just taking in the machines, and talking to other people about the bikes, btw subbed, great video 😎👍
I’m in agreement with others. I don’t even need a hello. I generally know what I want to see, what I want to pick up, or just want to be in my own thoughts and take it all in, and be left alone looking at bikes or gear or pick up a magazine to take home. Someone will roll up on me before I leave with some cheesy chatter or a hello. I prefer to not be approached and I’ll flag somebody down when I have a question or need something.
I like that a lot of Harley dealerships are not pushers like a car lot. I drove 2 hours away to visit an Indian dealership and it felt like i was at a creepy used car lot. They were pushing their bikes hard. I like to be left alone to look at stuff i am considering buying. If i have questions, I'll ask.
The Riverside (CA) dealership greets you at the door, then leaves you alone till you ask for help. I can’t vouch 100%, because I never bought a bike there, but they seem friendly and professional. I think that’s how customers should be treated.
I’ve had both good and bad experiences at dealers . Some acknowledge you right away and others you had to approach them before they would acknowledge you ! So it all depends on the situation.
You represent the demographic Harley Davidson is trying so desperately to reach but the pig headed dealers and sales reps don’t get it. Great video that I hope the Harley Davidson executives see. Subscribing
I love meeting fellow bikers and finding out what they're up too, we're all fam 😎. I like to be greeted but not bothered when I go into a dealership. The thingy with me is, I don't go to dealerships unless I have a reason. I do my own research and service so I rarely have a reason to visit a dealership. If I do go in one to look at or buy a bike, I already know its there and what I want, so I'm focused on getting to it.
For me, I kind of hate being immediately approached. I prefer to walk around and look at things for a few minutes. Then come to me and ask me if I need anything or have any questions that need answering. If I were a salesperson, I'd let you walk around a bit and observe what seems to interest you most, then tailor my introduction to that in order to make a sale more likely.
I’m a sales person at a Harley and I do this. I think it’s hilarious when the other dudes swarm the front. Like give these people a breath! But most of the time I am genuinely saying hi. We all have the same hobby. I like chatting to people about the bikes they are working on when they are at parts. People not dollar signs!
Wow!!!!! 8 minutes is wayyyy too long!! All that walking around! So the two couples from BC so that is West Canada so North of California … my daughter lives there!! Stay safe and looking forward to your adventures this coming summer😊
There should always be a greeting whenever you walk into a professional business establishment. Atleast a "Hey how you doing, let me know if you need anything"...
It's funny. it happens all the time. When you want help, it's like a ghost town, but if you're just looking, there are 3 or more sales people accosting you.
It happens but choose to not be offended, never know what kinda mess people are going thru? Maybe you can be the minister they needed instead! We have had same issue but retail work is probably hardest, " it's a pleasure to serve you" and mean it 24/7! God's speed and safety carry you thru!!!
This video be titled either, "You meet the nicest people on a Harley," or "Why are Canadians always so damn nice?" I'd consider a peaceful walk through a dealership as a gift. I HATE being pounced on.
Quickest way to get attention at a bike shop? Start touching and throwing a leg over every bike (especially the REAL expensive ones). That usually brings someone out from behind the counter quick.
I've been skeptical of getting a Harley because of the negative history when it relates to black people and the brand. But those 2 couples toward the end changed my mind and made me realize that there are good folks out there that ride Harley's that don't have that old way of thinking. Great video, you always provide great content.
This is the same thing females say but they think its because of their gender. Black people think its because they're black. White guys experience it and know its because the employees are being lazy.
Ya i have been to 2 dealers last summer, no help at all untill i checkout, just bought a hat. I hope its a more positive feeling when i go look at bikes. Your awesome brother...... Ride Safe....Steve from illinois.
Wow.. That's way too long in my opinion to be greeted. All it takes is a simple welcome and acknowledgment that I am there and a simple, If there's anything I can do to help, let me know. That's it. Be safe!
You were wearing the wrong cologne. Time to find a different dealership to do business with. When I walk through the door at any sort of dealership, be it motorcycle, car, archery or gun dealership and am not greeted when I come into the store I take my business elsewhere. If they don't have time to greet me coming in the door, they don't make time to work with you. I learned this a very long time ago. Any time I have ever had to chase down a sales person it was impossible to get them to want to work with me on making a purchase of any size. I had this play out with the last car I bought. Walked into a dealership and they just blew me off so I went to another dealership and bought me a new car. The sales guy met me outside in the rain and did business with me in the rain looking at cars. the other dealership, I will NEVER do business with. I only ever bought two bikes from a dealership and both times they greeted me coming through the door and were very helpful. The dealers that did not greet me have never gotten my business.
I see it as you went in there looking for disappointment, you looked disappointed and wonder why your expectations were met. I worked at dealerships and if I saw you I would have said hello walking by but that's it. Your vibe was negative, you walked all over pointing and narrating with a cell camera on. Not a good look or vibe. I'm pretty sure if you walked in, zeroed in on a bike or item then looked around like you want assistance and smiled, you would have got it.
My time around bikers has always been great. We enjoy meeting folks at rallies. Just a question though, what bars are you running on your bike? I see alot of them and they look comfortable the way they come back to you. Thanks and ride safe!!!!!
Those folks were great 👍. So me and my wife live west of Sturgis in Wyoming and are going to do the same trip your taking to Glacier Park and a ride into Idaho south and if time allows possibly the million dollar highway. It's going to be awesome.
I went to a HD dealership when I was 21 many years ago with a pocket full of cash to buy a new Sportster and after walking around for 30 minutes a guy finally asked me what I wanted. And I said the black Sportster his response was so does a lot of other people and went back to doing what he was doing! Me and my Father left and I never bought a bike there still some almost 40 years later! On the other hand when my local dealer that I’ve bought 4 bikes from when they get a new sales person they can be annoying too! So it goes both ways lol
I see the implication, and it's wrong. I've been to plenty of HD stealerships and a few never even greeted me or acknowledged me. So...cancels out the implication.
Man that happens all over CA trust me unless u spending big all the time they don’t have NO customer service don’t make any !! Excuse for that sh.t otherwise it’s considered tolerated let it be known most of the ones that work there don’t ever ride 😂
Subbed bro I live in north Carolina not far from the tail of the dragon, Deals gap ,& blue ridge can't believe a salesman didn't ask bet you couldn't walk through a dealership here around Charlotte N.C. with someone asking you if you need help..ride safe
If your not old looking or look like your ballin most HD dealers don't give a fuck. It's a shame people still give them the time of day. Goto a Indian or metric dealer and someone is helping you within a few mins.
Those guys at that dealership saved me 2 years ago when I had an electrical problem on my bike in my Toyhauler was coming from Florida heading to Sturgis and they saved me
I'm from baton rouge, but I moved to Vegas 2years ago, and that's one of the things I hate, harley dealers that way, don't care about their customers, I'm so glad, I bought my road glide here in vegas.
In defense of Harley Davidson, most people who are serious about buying a motorcycle don't wait for the salesman to come to them. If you are there to buy a motorcycle, you go get the salesman. So many people come to dealerships just to look at what's new, and they get offended if a salesman comes up to them.
It's not about buying motorcycles. It's about customer service. I may not want a bike but may need parts...or help with a helmet or simply a gift. Creating a warm environment helps everyone.
That is going to be a nice ride. I've been to all those places on my bike. My local HD dealers are the same way. They seem to let you peruse the store without acknowledging your even there. They see tons of window shoppers and figure that you will ask if you need assistance if your really interested in buying something.
The salesmen at our Harley shop are dicks. The first thing they did was make a derogatory comment to me. They have forgotten about the people that kept them in business during their hard years. I have to other dealerships and they treat you better
You know I watch the whole video and to me it looks like you tried to bring racism into this and therefore I will never watch another one of your videos I'm so sick of hearing this.
its a hard call for a sales person, some guys like to be left alone to think others dudes like to chat it up.but a hello and fist bump is allways a nice way to kick things off.
If it's your local dealership they probably know you. I go into a popular dealership on RU-vid every month for the same thing...3 o-rings. Occasionally I will look at bikes. They know I'm not buying and I'm just looking so they don't bother me or my family. I do get greeted but lets be honest? Do I care if they do or they don't? Not at all. Do we really need help looking at shirts? Na. They know I don't need help looking at parts on the wall. Only help I need them is picking me something from the back. Once again they know me. When it's all said and done I'd rather them not say anything like this dealership did in New Orleans than come and bug me looking at shirts and bikes. I'll let them know when I'm ready.
Man you are so spot on. The best thing about HD is the travelers you meet, but looking for customer service as a person who looks like us is not their strong point ❤️ However, I wonder how your local Indian dealer would do because every time I go in they are excited to tell you about the latest additions.and up grades to the bikes. I guess this is what happens when a brand feels superior to the other. Thanks for sharing so many people's experiences. RideSafe ❤️ SisterBigBone
Lmao always has to be about the color of your skin huh? That is the problem today, you intentionally look for it and it will find you! Facts of life. I give a shit less about th3 color of your skin, but when your character is all about racism, then you are truly a pos! Character over color, get with the program!!!
