Haha no tokalosie is an urban myth about a short guy (think leprechaun) that will steal you if you sleep too close to the ground and is often referenced to people who steal.
They had no choice. Americans are so offended about the F-Word. But nuking peoples with giant bombs and showing it on primetime is ok... What's wrong??.....
Did anyone else kinda feel bad for them at the end when Letterman spoke? It was kind of a rude remark and Die Antwoord looked embarrassed. They did good.
They were there to impress him, not the other way around. Letterman never took any shit. He was just poking fun at 'em anyways, and the smiles on their faces looked like they knew that, too.
You do know that Die Antwoord is supposed to be comical, right? When they started this whole thing it was originally a joke but since people actually started to enjoy the whole Die Antwoord thing they decided to go along with it. Yolandi and Ninja aren't really "bad ass" they've been performing this kind of characters for so long that people actually forgot they're originally comedians. They're basically the "Da Ali G" of South Africa.
you know that you have made this up right, ninja has been rapping for years and he formed die antwoord in 2008 . you are wrong on the comedian thing dude .
Letterman loves this kinda of different stuff, really. It's the ordinary stuff/people/acts he makes real fun of. That Superbowl reference was spot on pure Letterman humor & was complementary.
Letterman and his audience were so rude and snarky. I felt bad for Yolandi when they laughed at the end. :( Jerks. I love their stage presence and she looked amazing as always.
Randgaard Stewart I didn't say he said anything offensive. It was his demeanor and they laughed immediately after the performance was done BEFORE Letterman even said anything. Honestly, go argue with yourself in the mirror or go actually watch the video. You're too dense to waste my time with.
Laurie Bell You're the only one getting upset here over a differing opinion. You clearly have sensitivity issues and your viewpoint isn't well explained at all. They laughed because Yolandi whispered the end of the song. She even kind of smiled when that happened. Clearly you're the dense one when you resort to name calling when it's just you being over sensitive while viewing the video, trying to create an issue where there is none. His demeanor was imagined and all in your head. You can't even name what was wrong with his demeanor. You just give a lazy "its his demeanor" then you get upset after that because you know you're wrong. Go take some Lexapro. I watched it several times to see if there was anything wrong or offensive about this and there was nothing. At worst, they weren't completely comfortable there. The half time comment is not a negative one. Point out what is wrong without YOU assuming something.
***** Maybe. IDK, my physics teacher played "I Fink U Freeky" in class one day and every one hated it. They're not as popular as Taylor Swift of Katy Perry if you look at Facebook, Twitter followers and RU-vid subscribers. But they're famous. I'm not entirely sure what for.
Letterman a "Shadow" in comparison ? No Comparison, Letterman 30 year career will out shadow Die Antwoord for sure, guaranteed ! I like Both so I must be Krasy. BTW, You don't get it, 1st Complement was having them on the show, 2nd was the Half Time comment. If you watch Letterman much you would understand that he & the show have a warped since of humor that most don't understand at first glance.
loveroseluv The reason she isn't really looking around and stuff and why she doesn't jump around with this is it blocks her from being able to see. Black out contacts also kinda hurt depending on which ones she uses.
I love that David Letterman and Conan O' Brian have the balls to invite less mainstream acts (at the time) like Die Antwoord, Slipknot, Lamb of God and others.
Saw this on TV the night it aired... this was my first exposure to Die Antwoord. And I'll be honest, I wasn't sure if this performance was some kind of joke, or if they were serious lol. I was so intrigued that I went and found the music video for this song and have been a fan ever since! LOVE YoLandi's voice!
I think it has to do with being insecure like feeling like you will be looked at weird for liking that type of music that is different from what is normally listened to in are surroundings or better off said in our country... I fux wit it tho but normally with some earphones blasted hi lol that way I could jam to it with out absorbing anyone's negative energy
I can’t believe they were on Letterman. Open minded of him. They had so much potential. Truly unique and brilliant. I’ve heard some awful things about them, not sure what’s true or false but I can’t listen to them anymore.
He didn’t find or book them, they put people in charge of finding guests. Ultimately letterman has the final say but they really aren’t too involved. They trust the people they hire to do it.
@@hadrianswall3902 These people came out with proof. Wasn't just words. Zheani and their own adopted kids spoke out. Zheani has fame and money. So them having money isn't the issue. She's got the receipts and tea.
oh my goodness they sound so adorable when they've censored themselves! I never thought I'd use that word to describe any of their performances. Of course I must say I prefer the full Die Antwoord, I just think they were out of their usual space here. I hope they never get put in such an uncomfortable situation again. Uncensored and on a proper stage of course is far greater. I was blessed to have the opportunity to see the real Die Antwoord and I think their shows are glorious.
@@strider5119 sorry.. prob not the most respectful way of saying it, but i don't like it, at all.. so, i agree w/ the audience.. it felt like a joke.. it felt like a horror house on Halloween.. shock factor? absolutely.. but, actually take seriously? not so much.
I would LOVE to see just the audience for the entire performance. I don’t think I’ve ever heard them laugh (albeit a nervous laugh) after a musical act before.
😂 I thought of this too, I love Die Antwoord, been a fan for probably a decade now! Their music beats and Yolandi is adorable!! But I would really LOVE to see the audience reaction. 😅😂
haha weirdness is one of DA's main assets. They know it and they knew they were catching Letterman and his audience off guard, specially when they did this performance at this stage in their career when they were not nearly as known as they are now. Letterman, being a comedian, wouldn't be doing his job if he hadn't made a remark about what the fuck everyone just witnessed, and he did it without being disrespectful.
Anytime someone ask me my favorite song I tell them this one. I have had a couple people ask me later wtf is wrong with me. This is the best song ever.
Wack attack! 👎👎👎 Only thing I like is that chicks style! At the end she kept looking over nervously at ninja, (the guy in red ) And he didn't even care He coulda came together with her or something but he didn't even bother & left her hanging ...😕
Nah, guess you hardly know them... Look again and you'll see them look at eachother and Ninja gives her the "Wathever, fuck them!" -look. Btw, Yolandi said in an FHM- interview she hardly ever is nervous before a performance. (she is an entertainer since 2003!) Only at Letterman she felt awkward because of censoring their lyrics.
I like how the audience’s first reaction is a chuckle.. like this is a joke.. which obviously it is. Nothing more than shock factor. No actual musical integrity, at all.
Yup yup, the song level is so good, but the presentation so so cringe. It's like this would of been made for a cheap I mean really cheap b comedy movie, but the song is still really good.
this was just a wrong placement for them. it sucks cause the crowd at the end of the song starts laughing before clapping you can hear it. and David Letterman kinda makes a joke on their performance.
Not sure why this was recommended to me, but sure glad it did. Like 'em or not, you can't help but watch and stare at the whole performance! They're the "Freaky" ones and I like 'em a lot! 👹😈
Letterman had music guests at the end of a lot of shows. People you would not normally hear from. Definitely can tell it's not his kind of music but he gave many artists a chance to be heard by a HUGE worldwide audience.
Black magic rituals? Lol.... was there a court case? I couldn't find any info from a legitimate source on this subject. I read that the lead singer was blacklisted for making anti-homosexual slurs, and that a woman accused him of fondling her while they were drunk. I had a coworker whose young daughter had made those same accusations against him, and now he has full custody of the daughter because it turned out that the mother was the one who had put the daughter up to make the story for financial reasons. Just saying....
@@downandout992 Tokkie the boy they adopted and tormented came out with his story last year. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YenOVzUonFA.html
I know we’re all Die Antwoord fans, but imagine you are from California, and you’re on a vacation to NYC to see David Letterman. You’re in the audience to see Dave, but then this band pops up! Wow!!! I’ll bet there was several brains that got blown that night!
Brilliant! You either love or hate them but they are really great! I first got in contact with The Antwoord through Far Cry New Dawn. Now I love them!! Didn´t know that Yolandi is that small! :) Cute!
