Fun fact. When Alan Rickman, "Hans", is falling from the building, he is attached to wires and they were just gonna drop him a little bit then go to the stunt double going down the rest of the way. But with Alan, the director said you're gonna get a 3 count then the drop. They released on 1. So the look on his face when falling is genuine.

Bro. This is THE Christmas movie. And still, to this day, the best Hollywood action movie ever made, up there with Predator, The Rock and some others.

This was Alan Rickman´s first movie role ever & (hard to imagine nowadays) Bruce Willis´s first action movie role. Before starring in this action masterpiece, he was mainly known for comedic roles in the TV Series Moonlighting & the comedy movie "Blind Date".

My favorite movie ever, and my wife can't stand watching it with me, cuz as a young kid back in the day, I had this movie on VHS at home. I watched it so much that the tape got worn out from rewinding it for thousand off times. Haha 😂 😂. And when the DVD came I bought Die Hard aswell. And now the movie is on stream. During a time of roughly 25 years of watching this movie on and off, I have learned the lines through out the movie.. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

The "fists with your toes " thing COULD help. Part of the pain your legs get when traveling for long periods in vehicles is because of build up of pressure in the veins in your legs. Unlike arteries, the veins in your leg don't contract to squeeze blood through very much. Instead, the contraction of your legs muscles as you walk squeezes the veins and helps push blood through the veins, but when you sit or stand still for long periods, you don't get that squeezing action, and so the blood doesn't circulate as well as it should. That can cause pressure to back up in the veins which causes pain and fatigue. It can also lead to blood clots. One of the reporters covering the invasion of Iraq died from a blood clot that formed this way and traveled to his lungs. The flexor digitorum longus muscle in your calf and flexor digitorum brevis muscle in your foot are the main muscles that contract your toes, so walking on a thick carpet and contracting your toes works those muscles and can help move blood through the veins in your leg.

timeless classic, expertly done on all aspects of filmmaking.. this movie will endure for decades to come. the reason why some people don't call this a christmas movie is simply because their tiny minds cannot comprehend that christmas movies don't need to all be about a family coming together to face some little issue and end up having dinner and laughing. christmas is the whole impetus for the plot: it's why mcclane is there and the terrorists chose the holiday to lessen the security presence in the building.

Bruce Willis & Alan Rickman absolutely MAKE this movie! You can clearly see Bruce's history as a comedic actor shine through! (even though he is playing an "everyman" action hero role here) And Hans Gruber is an AWESOME villain. And the fact they are BOTH so clever & tactical (in their own way) throughout the movie. (ESPECIALLY including the "verbal chess match" they play when talking TO each other!) So, so good!

You have to see “The Ref” one of thee best Christmas movies, hands down! It’s quite funny!

Ah yes, one of my all time favourite Christmas movie series. No holidays go by without some good ol' Die Hard.

Somebody suggested Negotiator starring Samuel L. Jackson. Good movie. You should also watch Die Hard With a Vengeange (3rd in series), co-starring Jackson. They're a great odd couple in it. Die Hard 2 is also a competent sequel, similar ticking clock style hostage scenario, but more scenes in open spaces. It has Terminator 2's Robert Patrick in a small side role and Franco Nero (Django in the original Django movies and cameo in Tarantino's Django Unchained) and Bill Sadler (Demon Knight, Death in Bill & Ted 2&3) as main villains.

They weren't trying to pin things on McLane because they thought he was working with Hans, the deputy Chief was trying to cover his ass by claiming he (McLane) had escalated things and was responsible for some of the mayhem, because so much shit went down, he (Dep Chief) wanted to be able to say "It wasn't my fault, this guy caused it. If not for him, we would have had this cleaned up easy" This film is based on a book, and originally they were looking at Frank Sinatra to play McLane (Who would be older, retired detective) but that fell through so they ended up with Willis, who was mostly a comedic actor at the time (Blind Date, Moonlighting), and wasn't considered an action type at the time(Hair is thinning, he's not ripped like Stallone or Schwarzenegger), not a martial artist sort like Chuck Norris.

“Lethal Weapon” is another movie like this one that gets the “is it or is it not a Xmas movie” debate. One of the creatives on Die Hard even said once that they had it happen at the holidays because it had worked for Lethal Weapon and would get it played on the networks every year around this time for endless residuals.

Another Christmas movie is Gremlins. The original 1984 version. Die Hard was Bruse Willis' first movie. Before Die Hard Bruse Willis known for acting on TV.

Believe It or not, back then kids used to play with toy guns out in the open everywhere. They didn't have no Halo back then, they actually went outside and ran around and played. Mama ain't going to let them play laser tag inside the house.

The fear on Han's face when he falls was actual fear. Rickman had been practicing the fall with the stunt actors. They would drop him on the count of 3. When filming the director had them drop him on the count of 2. Without telling Rickman.

The inciting factors are all Christmas based. John coming to L.A to visit his family for Christmas. Meeting up at a Work Christmas party where the minimal staff are most vulnerable to being taken hostage. The whole film is framed in Christmas music ("This IS Christmas music"), decorations, themes and references. The central driving factor is a man attempting to heal his marriage and family, and only truly being able to do that with humility, honesty, asking for forgiveness and expressing love and a desire to change... and methodically executing a brace of criminals. A Christmassy plot if ever there was one. And his wifes literal name is HOLLY! Oh, this IS a Christmas movie man! ❤🎄🎁🎅🤶 So glad you enjoyed Die Hard mate. SUCH a great movie! Fast. Hilarious. Brutal. 12:17 I was a huge Moonlighting series fan in my teens and knew about Bruce Willis allready before Die Hard. Many don’t get the joke in this scene because they don’t know that Bruce used to be a bartender before his movie career. And Bruce had a chance to do Die Hard because his co-star in Moonlighting Cybill Shepherd got pregnant and they had the series on a brake. I don’t consider Die Hard a Christmas movie, to me it is The Best Action movie ever made and I watch it couple of times a year, every year 😄

I saw this in the theater. At the time I was sick of Bruce Willis from his t.v. show Moonlighting, and when I saw the trailer for this I thought he was going to be the villain. So I went to see Bruce Willis die. By the time I left the theater I was a Bruce Willis fan, and I took my friend to see it later that day. He liked it so much we went back with his girlfriend later that night. I saw this three times in one day, and 3 more times in the theater over the next 4 weeks. :D

The film is based on Roderick Thorp’s 1966 novel of the same name. The sequel book to The Detective is Nothing Lasts Forever, which Die Hard is based on. Knowing that he was to old for the role he terminated his contract so that the filmmakers could have a younger star.

Not a Christmas movie, per se, but it does kind of work as one. Regardless, it is still one of the greatest action movies of all time. Bruce Willis was awesome, as he usually is, and Alan Rickman was absolutely on point as Hans Gruber, the main bad guy. I hope you watch and react to the rest of the series, now, that would be dope. Think that I saw this movie in theatres when it came out with some friends. You can imagine the blast teenager us had.

It's set during Christmas. It has Christmas music. And he says "Merry Christmas" after shooting a guy in the forehead (if I remember correctly) Seems to check all the boxes I need for a Christmas flick.

John Mclain goes from being an "everyman" trapped in a building to an action hero, ramping motorcycles into helicopters.

You can pretty much divide action movies into pre Die Hard and post Die Hard. I don't think any other action movie has been this influential on the genre.

“Killed an innocent kid. Why would a kid play like that?” Happened a few years ago here in Ohio. Kid was pointing what looked like a real gun at random people in the park and when the police pulled up, he reached for it and the cop, not hesitating a second, pulled his gun and fired.
