You realize it's almost the same alcohol in a beer and a shot of tequila, right? Most common graduation in tequila is 35%, and let's consider a beer with 6%. The thing is, it's 6% of (generally) a bottle/can of 355 ml, which translates to 21.3 ml of pure alcohol, while a shot of tequila has (generally) 60 ml, so 35% of that translates to 21 ml of pure alcohol. So, basically the same amount of alcohol in a beer and a shot of tequila.
