At first I thought Will was just another “gym bro” because of other people’s videos but once I actually started watching him I fell in love with his videos He’s awesome, so funny, and he keeps things simple
@@Ejaz100 like most of them make fun of women at the gym or are misogynistic or constantly ridicule women for working out - god forbid - in shorts!!! just overall bad people and think they're better than everyone bc they're men
I actually find Will's non stop innuendos to be cringeworthy and this is coming from a guy who loves sex as much as oxygen. LOL Dropping one from time to time is funny. But when it's every other sentence for an entire 20 min video it's too much. He even drops them around his sister and his mom. It's weird. That's why I actually question if Katie's his "RU-vid GF" and it's on camera only. There was a video recently where they said hello and shared a really awkward hug. I mean any guy actually getting laid would not be that hyper focused on sex 24/7.
@@ryandeffley7652 They can be unfunny sometimes or out of place but dude, what are you on? That's his whole niche in the fitness community; being the dry humor guy. You're really questioning his relationships with his mom, sisters, and girlfriend just because he makes those jokes around them? Also, not everyone's life is based around having sex (which apparently, your way of thinking is that when you have a lot of sex, you stop thinking about it [inherently flawed statement]) and being macho, which is why I like Will. He's a comic break from all the ultra mega straight, asking a girl's tit size type of fitness YTers like Jesse James or Josthetics.
Just wanted to say that I really appreciate the evolution of these videos especially recently - feels like you’ve taken more care at understanding where the individual your reviewing is coming from rather than just what your main demographic need to here. And then figuring out how to bridge the gap between the two. Really loving it and it has gotten me back to regularly watching your content!
I completely agree! Abbeys old videos were so funny and sassy but I love this new compassionate approach. I also love that she is never afraid to admit if there is room to grow, yet doesn’t back down when it comes to evidence based. That is such a breath of fresh air on RU-vid!
@@AbbeysKitchen me too, no offensive but i really didnt like ue content when the first drama btween u an Greg, but after mutual understanding, i love ur vids. so muchhhhhh!!!!!
Really liked this video, Will's channel is really entertaining! He's talked about his ED in the past, it was so interesting to hear a man's point of view on eating disorder, it seems so rare but in reality it's probably a lot more common than we think!
They're super common, particularly in the fitness industry. So often normalized by different cycles (cut/bulk), fitness competitions, and language towards getting fit/lean which ends up supporting disordered eating patterns. Both my brother and partner deal with it in some capacity.
Will is my favorite. He’s the only fitness influencer I watch. I find it entertaining and realistic. I never feel bad about myself watching his videos. He also did a video intuitive eating for a week which was super interesting. I know he’s said before that’s his end goal one day. His dynamics with his family and Ollie (rip little dude) are always so funny as well
@@OMAR-vk9pi some youtubers really talk themselves up in ways that it can make people feel awful about not reaching every goal they have. Show boats and braggers can make people feel crappy about themselves. I dont have the gym insecurity issue but i always have a "really bro?" Moment when i see the ego poke through
Hey abbey, I don't think you'll see this but I want to say sorry and thank you. Sorry for judging you hard and thinking that all you want to do is make people eat alot. And thank you for unknowingly helping me realize the beauty of food freedom. I really had to hit rock bottom to appreciate your message and not listen with prejudice
I love Will! He’s genuine, intelligent, and I feel like he really cares about his subscribers and the content he provides. His videos are always fun and informative to watch, just an overall great guy!
As a middle aged 👩, watching Will’s channel would be a surprise to most but he’s a funny guy, loves his mom and is dedicated to a healthy lifestyle. I even learn workout tips to incorporate into my fitness routine. Your review sums up that, even when trying to lose weight, he is using a sensible approach which will make his efforts sustainable. Not just a quick drop in weight.
Will is amazing and Hilarious. His eating as many calories as he burns video was actually about informing people of the inaccuracies of gym equipment and Apple Watch type items when tracking cals burnt, and also about how easy it is to consume calories compared to how hard it is to burn them. Love your videos btw you’ve help me immensely with recovery💕
@@AbbeysKitchen thank you for creating content that is so helpful to so many people who are struggling, channels like this really let you know that you aren’t alone and what you’re going through isn’t something you need to be ashamed of.
I think this instance of exactly weighing his cucumber in his smoothie was more recipe-oriented rather than strict calorie counting. I know I’ve added a little too much of one smoothie ingredient before (especially a veg) and then when I’m drinking the smoothie I really regret it LOL
My thoughts exactly. I'm picky about the consistency of my smoothies and the ratios of certain fruit/veg to liquids and powders can make a huge difference!
For sure! There are things I measure cuz I suck at eyeballing. I hate liquidy oats so of course I measure out my liquids so they're a consistency I like
I didn't watch his source video, but was gonna say the same - it looks like he doesn't use measuring cups/spoons, and opts for what non-North Americans seem to gravitate towards for baking, where weighing is just part of the recipe. just watched America's Test Kitchen video where they weighed water when making a cherry cobbler, so not for diet reasons in either direction :-P
agreed! I always weight my porridge ingredients for instance, because if I don't it easily is too sugary, too thick, too liquid, too fat or even too fruity (I sometimes put a lot of fruits to cook in it ^^) Once I added "only" 4 additional gramms of sugar to match my daily caloric needs, and I was like "oooooh noooo this isn't right T.T" I now check gramms, don't care for calories most of the time now that I have my post work-out breakfast figured out :)
The other day I got some bell peppers that looked soo good, and when I went to cut them open that night for dinner, I discovered the inside was all moldy..
Those little cukes go fast! I’ve found if you prewash them (the day you buy them), slice them how you like, then put them in a produce container they will last way longer!
@@pancakequeen What kind of produce container? I'm fascinated by this. I love mini cucumbers dipped in hummus but the cukes spoil so fast it's hard to have it handy very often!
Will was the most influential person in my life for fitness. His simple, entertaining, and kind videos gave me the motivation and continual support to stay on track. I have lost over 20 of fat. And I’ve gained a small amount of muscle. But most importantly, I’m happier every day. I feel more in control and less anxious about my weight/figure. Will approached fitness in a healthy way, which is pretty rare in the fitness community as a whole
Something I have never understood is leaving out the yolk! It's honestly the best part of an egg! 😋🥚it just seems like people are often concentrating on the most unnecessary things. Like yesss leave out the chips, burgers, chocolate and candies if you want to, but please, when it comes to just regular food items, just enjoy them as they are.
Yolks makes me literally want to vomit, I've tried to like but I just caaaan't 🤢 it's feel unnecessary so throw food in the trash but I love the egg white, can't handle the yolk. Nothing to do with health.
Had to hold my like till the end of this lol. I love Abby but Will is hands down my favorite RU-vidr. His content played a huge part in me finding the drive to get up and hit the gym. Thanks for noticing how awesome he is Abby!!!
Late comment but weighing of small amounts of vegetables might not be for calorie counting purposes. When I make my smoothies and “ice cream” I weigh out everything (Even ice) to get the right taste and consistency. Something like 80g of celery vs 40 might completely change the taste of the smoothie.
'do you really have to weigh out your celery', he's giving us a recipe, probably aiming to create certain taste, not only achieve nutritional goals. Going by weight makes it easier to recreate without errors.
Tahini also tastes nice mixed into Greek yogurt, with diced apple or pear, walnut, chia seed, bit of maple syrup or honey and vanilla. I got this idea from a Mediterranean book. Tahini in soaked oats is also great if one is tired of almond butter.
When i go to eat some food, I now think of you and say to myself 'lets try adding some fiber to this meal' 'how do i make this more satiating?' 'have I got protein and carbs in this meal?' It's helped me a lot, thank you.
This was a lovely, caring, open minded, and all at the same time unbiased review. Often I find that shaming plays a pretty large roll in videos like this but not here. Excellent video.
A lady really interrupted my partner and I’s grocery shopping when she saw my bf grabbing soy milk. He is vegan and and body builder. She told him that the soy was going to give him boobs and make him feminine and cause his sex drive to plummet 😂 he was very nice about it though and just said repeatedly that that was false and studies have proven otherwise
WOW was not expecting this lol jumped when I saw the thumbnail 😂 I used to watch Will a lot, he's sooo funny to watch but i felt like I'm just not in the right mindset yet to hear him talk about calories and how if you eat this you will get fat. But total respect, he's an amazing youtuber ❤️ very excited to watch this!
@@giovannajosetti3131 Same, I think he's really funny and I used to watch him all the time, but I'm recovering from anorexia right now and gaining weight is stressfull for me. So I try to not watch people who just remind me of calories all the time
It would be so interesting to look at sex disaggregated data on accuracy of estimated calories/steps on fitness equipment/watches etc. I imagine there is a strong male default bias, potentially even in cases where we are asked to include our stats (height, weight, age, gender etc.)
I love the evolution here to whole foods and it’s humbling to think about how our perceptions can always change. What I think I might know as fact about foods and nutrition for me can change over time based on my goals as well as what I learn. There is always an opportunity to learn something new, so it’s important to keep an open mind and check in with myself often.
Great job on the video and digging deep into Will's diet. Another great fitness channel that shares similar views to Will, that fitness isn't just physical but mental and spiritual as well, are the Buff Dudes. They already have a lot of recipe and eating videos, but they are also releasing their own cookbook sometime in November
His cut is my bulk, lol. I'd love to hear more about more competitive/extreme athletes and their diets; managing heavy cycles of exertion and rest. Thank you, Abbey, always very informative.
I really love Will's content! I found him a few days ago and totally binged his videos ahhaha, very funny but I feel like I learn new things from him which is always nice.
i’ve been wanting this review for so long now! love both yours and wills channels and was really curious to hear what you’re thoughts would be on his approach. thanks for a great vid as always :)
I am a huge Will Tennyson fan. I just wanted to note that I do not believe Will was sharing the amount of cucumber and celery in his smoothie for the purpose of tracking his macros. He shares recipes with his viewers and the amount of each ingredient in this smoothie is important for consistency. I tried making this smoothie without measuring and it was too frothy. Putting in the correct amount of each ingredient is important for a good smoothie!
I am a fan of Will and I am glad you chose this particular video for review. It is one of my fav Will's video and i knew you are going to like it. Interesting guy to watch, not all of his video i like (some are quiet distrubing 😂) but still fun to watch. I am so glad that that he is considering a more whole foods into his diet. Thanks for reviewing him Abbey and surely you've done a thorough research and mindful comments ❤👌. If i could give double "likes", i would.
Hi Abbey. Same, girl, same 😂🤣. I think I’ve literally had a few breakdowns this year over the sad taste and texture of our watermelons 🍉 what is up with our fruit this year 😩 I really do enjoy fresh fruit, but, boy, we have some really sad options to choose from. See you in the next one ✌🏻🌸
Where I am, the nectarines are good right now, so maybe you might want to check those if you like them? Mind you, it might just be that I'm in the Northeast US, and the fruit is mostly ok there (especially things in the peach family - the cherries were good earlier this year too for us). And if all the fruit is bad, is your corn ok? We have good corn right now where I live.
I am so grateful to have someone like you on this platform to guide us on proper gentle nutrition and debunk all the wild diet culture bologna! I love your videos and never miss one💕 Something I’ve noticed growing in popularity (at least where I’m from) are “loaded teas”. I’m not sure if you’ve heard of these but if so I’m wondering your thoughts on them. They are quite tasty, but do they fall into the “too much of a good thing” category with all those vitamins and antioxidants? What’s scarier is all the people I know drinking them as meal replacements 😳
I really love wills videos. It's a little hard to relate to some parts as I'm.. well, female, and not a weightlifter. But, I've had ED issues for the last.. 11 years? And my dad and I both have BED issues, on and off. And usually would rather eat till we're bursting. Not wasting calories on small things. But, eating bigger filler meals. I also completely understand, coming from someone who has/had ED issues. That I'd rather just weigh my food out so I know I'm getting thr smmount that I'm set on having. (might also be an autism thing..) Ive experienced both restrictive eating. And most recently BED. And I know I get comfort in weighing things out. Because I know once it's weighed out and put away (I know this really doesn't count for veg.. but it's a habit for all things) then I won't be just snarfing things down. I would rather feel in control of myself. Then out of control having an episode. Just tossing a few things on my scale 🤷🏽♀️ also, if it's a recipe, you don't want too much of one thing. Especially something like celery to throw off the taste He's also just hilarious, and Canadian 😂
Knowing Will, that is a big cook, and love to follow recipes, he is probably doing weighting everything for the accuracy of the meal. However, I weight every single thing I eat, specially whole foods. This might seem extreme for some people, but as someone that never understood food portions, and only ate processed food, switching for whole foods, I am often so low in my calories, iron and sodium intake, it will make me pass out whenever I get my period . I will under eat over a thousand calories if I don't track. I also try to take all my vitamins through food, and this allows me to know if I should supplement, or not. Tracking can be a wonderful tool, if you use it correctly.
much better approach to videos than before. gigantic improvement in terms of information quality in the past when covering bodybuilders 10/10 video from me keep up the good work! liked & sub'd
just a thought but maybe weighing out something like celery, cucumber etc in a shake isn't so much for calorie sake but for shake consistency/texture/flavor. also weighing regularly can help form the habit so that you don't forget to weigh more calorie dense food that do matter! just my opinions
Absolutely. When I started weighting and tracking, I would track everything. Everything. This was mostly to build a habit. It clearly worked, cause I have been doing it for 3 years now. Meanwhile, back when I was younger, I couldn't continue more than a week.
Sometime I'm weighing things to keep the recipe consistent. I think in a smoothie this is really important to get the right consistency and flavor. I don't think weighing it is about calories in this case 🙂
Just want to say I just bought your nesting bowls Abby! I am so excited!! I've literally been looking for bowls and I feel like you checked off every box: stainless steel, nesting, non slip & the lids! You've checked off every box and threw some color in ❤️ I can tell you are a real cook. Can't wait for my shipment to arrive
Great review...very indepth! This was like reading the manual but more fun :) Do people even read manuals anymore though...lol. Great job on your video :)
Lol the thing you said about calories on the treadmill reminds me of how my brother used to set his weight to 600 pounds on the gym treadmill and walk at like the lowest speed for a half hour and then be like "I burned 700 calories!" 😂
VIDEO IDEA: ok, hear me out…there are a few youtubers I watch who show their WW (honestly mainly Nikki Gets Fit because she and her husband are so fun ☺️). Her diet on WW actually feels really balanced and healthy. This got me to thinking…I know you reviewed WW as a plan, but what if you reviewed WW in practice? Like seeing if people actually following it seem to come from a good place or not? I think that’d be really cool!
I really love the information in these videos however Abbey's voice is so soothing I always fall asleep if I’m laying and watching. I actually started putting videos on when I can’t sleep idk what it is… Am I the only one?
my friend is a dietitian said you have some artficial sweetners that can actually be assimilating with cancer BUT just a few and those are rarely used this days as you have better and tastier ones available
Abbey: are we really weighing celery and cucumber guys? Me who loves perfect consistancy and total reliability and weighing out exactly 9.0g of coffee grounds for my pour over: yes Jokes aside Abbey, I don't know how many people out there are like me but like a scientist I find that for certain things in the kitchen I *adore* having everything weighed out and timed for the perfect recipe that slaps every single time! Its very satisfying to have that reliability and repeatability. Other times I definitely just throw things together, but yeah in Will's case it could be that adding too much celery and cucumber throws off the taste and consistency of the smoothie :)
Never heard of this guy but he seems engaging and entertaining with a realistic approach to fitness with minimum diet culture or "wellness" BS. I'll have to check out his channel!
Hi! Love your videos as always. But a little side note: the research on the metabolic window has mostly been done on men and more recent findings on female athletes have shown that there is a benefit in getting in protein as soon as possible for AFAB bodies. Due to our hormones the switch to catabolism happens much sooner (I believe around 30 mins after cooling down). For more information and new research you can check out Dr. Stacy T. Sind who is focusing specifically on female athletes and the differences in our performance, muscle building, female health etc.
It isn't that alarming to weigh veggies, you can over eat no matter what the food. When making recipes amounts are important for taste and texture. It would be alarming if he were weighing to under eat, some people want to track the macros.
You weigh your cucumber only if you want to know exactly what you’re eating. Will introduced me to counting calories, I am grateful to him for showing me how to eat mindfully. If you don’t know what your eating, good luck making tweaks to your diet
Hi Abby, would you talk about the 6 small meals a day diet? It’s basically the opposite of intermittent fasting but I’ve never seen any videos online about it and I haven’t seen any on your channel. It’s frequently recommended as another possible tool for fat loss, but I rarely see anyone trying it. Probably because it’s more work to add more meals in a day than to take one away. It’s also medically recommended for people with gastroparesis like myself. But I’d love to hear your thoughts on this method when solely being used by people trying to be more healthy or reduce GI problems or lose fat.
Maybe he weighs celery and cucumber because he likes the taste of the proportions. When he makes his oats he says "a little bit of fruit," so it doesn't sound like he's compulsive about what is essentially zero calorie veggies.
To be fair, I think weighing the veggies for the smoothie was more related to keeping the flavour properly balanced, rather than worrying about the calories in the veggies.
i am a 17 y/o female runner who works out twice a day most weeks along with school. i’ve been struggling a bit lately with body dysmorphia and eating habits and i just wanna say that your videos help me keep my thoughts more healthy and not struggle as much with negative thoughts about weight and body. in a sport where weight and body becomes very noticeable it is easy to fall into a spiral, which can be very dangerous when you work out so much and need a lot of food to function. so i just wanted to say thank you:)
We had an exceptionally cold spring over here. Cherry season and mirabelle season were like two weeks each, because most of their flowers froze in spring :(
No hate but did you think the weighing cucumber for the smoothie is more for taste than calories? Adding more or less of any ingredient could potentially change the overall taste
Hi Abbey! This is unrelated to the video, but could you do a video reviewing those "That girl what i eat in a day" tik tok videos. I find that a lot of them don't eat enough food, but i'm really not sure :)
I've gotta subscribe to this guy. He seems to meet that happy medium of being athletically focused but also inclusive and considerate. As a woman with athletic goals, it's rare to find a guy's channel that meets that standard.
Hi y’all , This is a fitness suggestion so if you don’t want that then don’t read this/harass me over this. So I know how it was mentioned in the video that will and his GF like burning 300 calories by running, but they aren’t always in the mood to do so. I recommend walking at a speed of 3.0 for 1 hour at an increasing incline. Starting at an incline of 7.0, increase your incline by 1.0 every 15 minutes until you hit 10.0 for the last 15 minutes. I burn a supposed 440 calories every time I do this (that’s what the treadmill says, so not necessarily accurate but still something healthy to do to be active every day) though the exact amount for y’all may be a bit different. It’s not as intense as say running for as long as you need to in order to burn a supposed 300 calories, but it may still be an enjoyable activity if y’all like that kind of thing. I know this number isn’t exactly accurate bc it’s a treadmill but if people want an exercise that is kinda intense but not overly so, I recommend this. People don’t need to count calories (in general) if they are eating well and eating appropriately for their personal needs and what not. However, it is important for people to exercise (and just be active in general) in their daily lives for health purposes. Hope this helps someone even if it’s not y’all.
I do weigh celery, mainly because the fibre and proteins add up and the volume of vegetables tends to fill me up rather quickly. That way, I am more accurate and don't feel like I missed out on calories I really haven't missed out on.
I couldn't imagine not including the yolk in my egg. My favorite way to have them is sunny side up, mop up that yolk with a crunchy piece of wheat toast.. I love eggs!!
It’s love to see you review Nikole Goncalves from Healthnut Nutrition! She’s a fellow Canadian with a great approach to food (imo) but I would be interested in hearing your thoughts!
