Hello po! I'm a BS Psychology graduate and for one to be a clinical psychologist po, kailangan po masteral at doctoral degree in psychology + the licensure exam. Kapag po graduate ng Psych, one can immediately be a psychometrician provided na nakapasa rin sa licensure exam. 😊 The main difference po na tinuro sa'min ng psychologist and psychiatrist is that psychologists tend to focus more sa thoughts, feelings, and behavioral manifestations ng disorder therefore give counseling/psychotherapy as intervention, while yung psychiatrists po are more of the biological and the chemical imbalance causing the disorder so they prescribe medicine and provide medical intervention. They work together po dealing with mental health issues/psychological disorders pero nagkaiba lang po sa education at approach. 😊

Hey Miss Aura, you studied medicine. But, you don't even know what's the difference between OPHTHALMOLOGY AND OPTOMETRY. I'm here to correct and to show people the real difference so as to make our fellow FILIPINOS to be aware of. CORRECTION: "Optometrist is NOT the one who makes eyeglasses rather the Optician/ Optical Technician does. Optometrist PRESCRIBES eyeglasses and contact lens and other visual devices such as Artificial Eyes." It's same thing to a Gen. Physician who prescribes medical drug." Optometrist are also a DOCTOR. You have to study DOCTOR OF OPTOMETRY, it's a 6 year degree. It's ANOTHER MEDICAL FIELD. Actually, they are the primary care practitioners that examines the eye and vision, but not goes with eye surgery. On the other hand, ophthalmologist examines also the eyes but they are into diseases and surgeries. They are more concentrated in surgery. So, I hope you'll understand and share it with your co- workers for awareness.

Psychologist and Psychiatrist is nasa field ng clinical. Magiging psychiatrist ka lang kapag nakapasa ka ng board exam for psychology, and Psychologist, kapag nakapasa ka ng board exam for psychiatrist and nakapasa ka ulit ng board for psychologist. Sa psychiatrist, sila yong nagdedetermine ng disorder/ mga gagawin sa isang tao through assessment then ibibigay yong result sa psychologist then psychologist sila yong mga prescribed ng medicine na kailangan ng individual na may specific disorder or sila yong mga gagawa ng mga therapy na kailangan for that specific person. May mga specific work lang ang psychiatrist kesa sa psychologist. PS: Correct me If I'm wrong. Thank you!! 😊

I'm a psychology major and there is a separate board exam for psychologists. After finishing BS psych and you passed the board exam, hindi ka "psychologist", magiging registered psychometrician ka. After that, you'll decide whether you'll pursue clinical or industrial as your MA. pag MA in clinical psychology ka,(that's 2-3 years) you have to take board exam for PSYCHOLOGIST. then after that, tsaka ka mag p Phd (3-4 years ata) for additional practice. Clinical psychologists conduct psychotherapy while psychiatrist focuses more on the biological aspect. And I believe that both disciplines are crucial in curing mental disorders. We were taught that medications are not enough, may therapy din dapat. Aside from that, mas may edge ang psychologists sa "testing" psychological tests are very crucial for diagnosis. (yun ang alam ko) may level level din ang psych tests and usually it takes years for you to master it (for example RIT sabi ng prof ko sa PHd di basta basta yun. ilang years daw). Psychiatrists can conduct test pero yung objective lang. Unlike sa psychologists, we can conduct projective tests as it requires years of training since these tests are tracing the unconscious thoughts, memories, etc of patients.

Psychologist can "cure" psych disorders din, and are also in the clinical perspective. Psychiatrists are med doctors that prescribe drugs, psychologists naman they do psychotherapy... And you need masters in psych and need to pass the licensure para maging RPsy
