how comes you don't explicitly mention that differentiating the exponential (and any constant in front of it) basically doesn't cause any difference to it at all? it's like you were pretending they're not identical

How comes the gradient doesn't change to 5/2 as it's a tangent to e^x? (m1 x m2 = -1 ... m1 = -1/(-2/5) = 5/2)

You are getting confused with the normal to a curve. That gradient would be 5/2

do we need to know this for c1? because i just came across a newton - raphson question for fp1 and i was meant to differentiate e^2x. however, i thought this was c3/c4 content, could you please let me know what module this is for. When i looked at the fp1 spec it said that no other differentiation skills are need besides the ones teached in c1.
