Did you know that digitigrade legs actually do less pressure on spine , additionally they let you run much faster with less strain for the feet . Why we didn't evolve into reptile morphs :l
digigrade legs would require something to keep your back balanced, hence why dinos had tails. Also those legs would mean harder to climb up and down stairs/ladders etc. Sure it would mean less pressure on the spin and faster movement but then there are alot of disadvantages especialy in environments, heck it would be very hard to crouch/get up with those legs too!
*Xeno's show up at coffee shop* Xenomorph: BLARBHARHB!! Manager:Alright sir, you're hired Manager: phil you're fired Phil: D: *two days later* Phil: THESE DAMN ALIENS ARE TAKING OUR JOBS
I thought up this same concept in the late nineteen-eighties for a satyr cosplay project (only I don't think the term "cosplay" had been coined yet). I had planned to use leather, metal plates, and springs. I never really got my project off the ground, but this looks like a pretty sophisticated design. Looks like it probably took awhile to develop. Congratulations!
SO cool! I am so very appreciative to the people who have thought up such unique and interesting designs to help hobbyists enjoy their dreams in these personalized ways.
it's all about the legs.. costume is just to give an idea of what you can stick on 'em. We're working on a brand new Demon that'll be ready in a week of so - you might like that one more! lots of sweet pics on our Area 51 crew or digilegs facebook pages
Yep, it's the leg extensions that we're featuring here - the costume is just for example. The original Alien 1979 design was not even digitigrade - it was a plantigrade creature... feet like ours
Wow, amazing imagination guys. Excellent work with the costumes!! I wish you the best of luck. Looking forward to seeing you at a Comic Con Convention or something.
Well, they're still pretty new I guess - and they're very specialised for costume work. You might be seeing a couple of pairs in action on one of your TV pretty soon...
digiligs are nothing like powerisers - and they're not meant to be. They're to enable you to "convert" your human leg into that of a digitigrade animal (walks on toes - dog etc). This is necessary for people who make this type of creature costume, and digilegs provide a very low profile that makes this achievable. Powerisers are for sporting activity, and the springs etc cannot be disguised realistically. It's a totally different product for a totally different market. Hope this helps!
Awesome. You should meet those guys who made the velociraptor/utahraptor suit. Their costumes looks really realistic except for the legs. You solved their problem.
I don't know why, but I always hear the chariots of fire theme in my head when I see the Aliens running. Laughing out loud! I even muted this video and listened to it in the background. Funny, to me at least.
Aha! I see... now that would be quite tricky. Although they're not really designed as a contraceptive device, maybe we should add it to their list of features?!
Ah man, if you were to just take those to the parking lot of a local grocery store or somethin you could guarantee you would make some people never forget that day.
Very cool - I could see using them to get a more realistic look for a Pan/satyr costume. Making the legs look right was always the deal-breaker, but with these it would work - excellent! ;-)
Movements look more like the raptors from jurassic park then Xenomorph. Might be just the actors though (or the fact aliens hardly walk up that straight). Stil neat stuff! :D
How cool! Compleat Sculptor has some cool body latex materials that look like they would be good for making the forms. Then, you'd just have to break it up into reusable sections.
My sister makes cosplay costumes and wanted to make an Xenomorph costume. She made a handful of them since she started but she always hated that the legs were just what the person underneath had. I showed her this and she's thinking about making one with it.
Very cool! But to pull it off, you also need to keep your head down, or put eye sockets in the neck of the outfit so the head stays at the proper angle.
These are useful for people, specifically costume/creature designers who are looking for low profile leg extensions that allow human legs to acheive the semblance of a Digitigrade animal (werewolf maybe), or Ungulate (horse). Hence the use of "Dog" Aliens in the video. What on Earth did you imagine they were for?!
