Rika from Digimon Tamers was the narrator of Digimon Frontier in the English dub until Bokomon takes over for the last eight episodes, as a result of voice actor Melissa Fahn leaving to join the cast of Wicked.

Great review! You're the first reviewer I've seen who pointed out the potential of the evil legendary warriors! They're actually my favorite fictional characters because of everything that the show hinted at. Like you correctly pointed out, the evil warriors weren't really under Cherubimon's control. Their spirits weren't corrupted and they each had personalities of their own. They really just worked for Cherubimon because they wanted to keep their spirits, which gave them power and influence over others. We know from other episodes that it is very well possible to "purify" a digimon with a d-tector, without actually changing its personality (example: ep 10 Shamanmon). This is because some aren't corrupted by Cherubimon, but act the way for other reasons (like Impmon in Tamers). When Cherubimon corrupts a digimon's mind, its sudden change in behavior appears irrational to other (example: ep 4 Mushroomon). In addition to that, corrupted are basically stripped of their personality. In the case of the four warriors, there was no evil force controlling their minds. They each had unique personalities, all sharing the common goal to have power and influence in the digital world. We also saw in ep 42 that they had good hearts deep down, as otherwise their spirits wouldn't have reacted to their eggs. All Cherubimon did was merge them with their spirits to not have them digivolve back to their regular forms. (the merging is actually stated in the official Wiki) I believe that a redemption arc for them was definitely planned. We have four digimon, so each of the DigiDestined would have gotten a "partner" (not counting Kouji since he had his own arc with Koichi). The digidestined would have kept the spirits of the four digimon for most of the time of course, so we would have seen their non-spirit rookie stages. The evil warriors could have gotten the most amazing redemption arc ever. 🥲 I started obsessing over these characters back in 2015. They will forever be my favorites! 🥰 Frontier is also my favorite show because of all its lore and character potential! Still waiting for season 2!

Personally I liked the more slower pace of the series. It is fun to have some slice of life episodes. As for the characters, they could have been better but they have their merit. For example, JP's character isn't about not having friends, it is about not knowing HOW to make friends. As for villains, Mercurymon is one of my all time favorite Digimon villains, as he strategic and uses unconventional tactics. Still I have always been of the strong mind that if any Digimon season could use a reboot, it would be Frontier. So much potential, so much wasted.

Something just occurred to me. If and when you review Digimon Xros Wars (or fusion if you hate yourself) could you also review the Xros Wars manga? It isn't too long, can be easily found online, and is probably one of the best Digimon stories ever told. And for some reason no one has reviewed it yet.

I think Frontier is getting more love recently. The 6 main warriors got their own dim cards, calmaramon, and velgamon appeared in 2020 bokomon, giasmon calmaramon appeared in ghost game

Underdeveloped. That's this season in one word. A lot of cool ideas, but seriously undercooked. And that fan service thing, yikes. Regardless, I like your ideas on how this season's weak elements could've been better. That Lucemon scheming and temptation plot would've worked perfectly with the biblical lore woven into throughout Frontier's story. For better or worse, seems the Legendary Warriors are also just that henceforth -- legends. For once in a story, they don't seem like they'll keep coming back. Maybe it's for the best to remain the stuff of legends, but even a worthy acknowledgement could be cool. Overall? Great to see your return. Thanks for the effort, the show's issues be damned... and also shucks, the Stripperella references activated a neuron I forgot I had.

This Isn't the first Digimon season that give Digidestined Superpowers This honor goes to 35th episode of Digimon tamers(unlike Tamers, Frontier did ditch Digimon partners when giving kids Superpowers)

The Aldamon and Beowolfmon lines (minus Takuya and Koji) first appeared in BT4 of the TCG, with Takuya's line getting another set of Digimon cards in BT12, along with Tai, Davis, and Takato. Edit: Forgot about Marcus.

It's such a great video... digimon 04 is my favorite digimon season, and I get why you dislike it, and I agree with you. This season has so much wasted potential ... I still love it so much, tho.❤ Good video!!

Junpei basically a character you haven’t understood at all.

There were quite a few moments that frontier was about to go dark like tamers, but they suddenly just cut it out, as if nothing was happening. Every time certain scenes would come up, I would get up at the edge of my seat, waiting for some dark story line, that would never come. A great example is when we see the blue Asian kid who turns into the wolf whose name I don’t remember at the moment, we see him being tortured by lightning, and it begs to go into a sudden Deep story piece but, no. He just gets up a moment later, and like nothing happened. Or we see his twin brother, holding his head and for a moment, I thought that cherubimon was going to be in his head, and we were gonna have a scenario where the kids would be forced to fight someone who was being controlled. But no, the scene suddenly just changes as if nothing has happened. The whole show was full of moments, like that, where it would be built up to something amazing happening, and then nothing. For example, the kids are literally fighting the devil himself, Lucifer as a Digimon and I was expecting it to go as dark as tamers did when the kids were fighting the D reaper, and there were scenes when the D reaper was in the form of Jerry, and it got dark. But here, it was just the voice of freezer from Dragon Ball Z mixed with some really weird looking angel. And then in the end, the source of all evil is an obnoxious little bug at the center of a giant dragon? I I lost all faith and then the end of the show, where they forced on this scene about how the kids have grown up and learned to do this and that and it’s like you yuck what is this a 1990s children’s TV special about bullying? Oh, frontier was the frontier of boredom. And then it was even worse with the fact that it was just children on screen, turning into Digimon instead of being the actual Digimon, but the worst part, to me the worst part was that everything that they had built up in tamers focusing the Show on character development and having the battles be strategic instead of just did you vaulting so the kids had to learn to use their wits end. They had to learn quickly what kind of a technique would work in battle so they knew when to use what, and then frontier they went right back to the old oh, I’ll just did you fall and become stronger. Except they replaced it with some super powered sword and it was just so stupid.

While I admit Frontier isn't that great of a season, I still enjoyed this season. It tried a new idea and didn't want to do the same thing. Digimon always tries new things, and while this season isn't the best I still enjoy Digimon taking the risk. Also, I've never been bothered by the fan services of Zoey, and I feel people make too big of a deal over this. I get it, but it's not like this isn't in other animes. Not to mention Digimon has done this to almost all the female characters. Again, I get it, I just don't see it as a big deal.

I never got why this season gets hate, who wouldn't want to be able to transform and fight alongside their favourites? Almost everyone's favourites from Adventure were the Patamon and Gatomon lines if memory serves; the Terriermon and Lopmon lines were well recieved enough in the Japanese and English movies to become partner Digimon in siblings in Tamers. And here we (essentially) get Gatomon calling you to help save Patamon so you and they can save their pal Lopmon and figure out who the real villain is: only they're in their mega forms. HOW DID THAT NOT INSPIRE IMAGINATIONS INSTEAD OF HATE? 😭

Frontier, while it's rough around the edges, it's still "okay", it's just not as great compared to Tamers, Adventure '99 or Data Squad The Spirit Evolution Henshins are good though. Takuya can do better as a character much like Takato or Taichi/Tai (and Davis)

Well, the problem with Frontier is that it does not build characters, and we take Takuya. Well, he is not special. In contrast to Kouji, he was the most important character in the show, and Koichi was great. These guys are the mainstay of the show in its entirety, while the rest of the characters were kind of reserve players... Let's talk about the power levels. It was very terrible, for example, a Mega-level Digimon is killed by a Champion-level Digimon, and we are talking about the development of a Digimon divided into a human sprite, and the best problem is that they are at the same level, which is supposed to be a higher development. Well, the creators of the work did not care about it, but the essential point in the work is the Digimon in In all Digimon shows, there is a relationship between human facilities and Digimon and how they become stronger, but on the other hand, in Frontier, the essence has disappeared, so this is the worst. I remember when I was young, when I watched Frontier, the Arabic version, I did not remember anything from it. I hated the show. Well, it is better than my imagination, but it is not the show that I want to watch it again

Digimon Frontier seems better. Instead of Digimon doing all the work while the kids hang in the sidelines with a d tector, they become them.

Will say there is no bad digimon anime. But i say adventure, tamers and frontirs are my least favorite. Adventure 2020 is a bad anime.
