I ended up getting a second one as well. How are you connecting the two? I also have a Xone 96 on preorder, that might make switching tracks like butter :)

I havent hooked them up yet; but i guess i do the classic Midi-Loop and check if i get my very old e-mu 1820m System working again :-) Stay tuned. In a couple of days you can see what i came up with i think :-)

Brilliant, I love what you get out of the Digitakt. Did you build your own sound kit or is it the internal kit_

Thank you mate! All Samples are coming from Wave Alchemy's excellent Samplepack "Synth Drums". Got an offer for these where i was able to grab them at a great Discount. Couldnt resist! :-)

Great groove. And brilliant man. Can’t wait to see what you come up with on two:) was thinking about a second one myself but opted for the digitone instead.

Thanks mate! I was thinking about a DN for a second as well :-) But then i said to myself: Nah, just FM is not enough! So lets take what im already used to and what can sound like everything instead! :-) Im really excited to see where two Digis will lead me to ;-) Stay tuned man. Samples are already transfering onto the second one now ... :-)

been watching all of your videos. Great stuff! Hey can you answer me a question. Can the digitakt do what can be done on the Push 2 like splitting up samples into bits and replaying them on the fly? I want to do an interactive project with the audience and take what they say and send it back to them in pieces.

Fun to watch somebody noodling on a Digitakt (got one myself). For my taste the bottom end is a bit rich, for the rest sounds like fun.

Hey Du, spitzen Videos! 1 Question, because I cannot find really helpful stuff anywhere: Is it possible to route the Digitakt into Ableton like I can do it with the NI Maschine for example? I mean in a way where I can route each track like BD, SN or hats to a single audio track in Ableton? And further, which box do you recommend for playing beats in an intuitive way - The Digitakt or the TR-8s? It's clear that the sound modulation possibilitys are way more bigger on the Digitakt... But I'm worried that the jamming factor on the Digitakt comes too short. Thanks for answer! Und danke für Deine Videos!
@umonox
@umonox 6 лет назад
Servus. Und dankeschön! :-) Currently its not possible to stream (individual) Audio Tracks via USB because Overbridge is not ready for the Digitakt yet. Once it is available, all of this will be possible. And more (like a dedicated VST-Plugin for the Digitakt for example. Which supports Total Recall and stuff like that). I dont know what "intuitive" means for you, but the Jamming Factor is extremely high on the Digitakt. In fact, you wanna do all sorts of things live because it is so easy ... You cant control several Tracks at once from one single Screen though (except for the Volume, this is possible in one of the two Master Screens). In that respect the TR-8s allows you to set specific Effect Parameters for a Track that you will then have access to from their dedicated CTRL-Knobs. So you can do a Filter Sweep with one Track and dial in the Bit Reduction on another one at the same time for example. This is possible with the TR-8s, yes. On the Digitakt you would need an external Controller to do this. You have CTRL-ALL on the Digitakt though. This allows you to control one single Parameter on all eight Tracks at the same time! If you save the Pattern to its initial state in advance, you can do some of the most intense and brutal Risers or Drops that way. And once youre ready, you simply do a Pattern Reload and everything is set back to normal - while the Effect Trails still slowly fade out. Something like this is not possible on the TR-8s. This would in turn require an additional controller. But if you want direct access to several Parameters of several Tracks at once - the TR-8s delivers! For sure. Keep in mind though that Sound Modulation possiblities are not to be underestimated when you work with Samples. And also keep in mind that the TR-8s has a super basic Sequencer compared to the Digitakt. This might become annoying at one point, especially when you need that third or fourth "hand" to support your live jam ;-) Automation is limitless on the Digitakt, but very limited on the TR-8s. Keep this in mind. Cheers Und gern geschehen: Freut mich dass dir meine Videos gefallen ;-)

Wow, besten Dank für die schnelle und umfangreiche Antwort. Ich setze auf Englisch fort: Okok, if there are no possibilities to split the audio signal while routing, I only can gradually record each track in the pattern while the rest is muted, right? The Digitakt convinces me a lot. It's amazing how many options you have! With intuitively I meant direct access to parameters while playing. The Digitakt is small and clunky, the Tr 8s is very large and clear. Roland delivers all the classic sounds in good quality (I guess). But I think the limit is reached quickly on the Tr 8s. However, I have no live performance interests and would use the box only in the studio. Also I have never owned a drum machine and just diving into it. I like your big comparison of the two boxes by the way!
@umonox
@umonox 6 лет назад
Danke. Das freut mich zu hören ;-) Yes, you would have to mute each Track and record them one by one if you need them on separate Audio Tracks. At the moment. If you want direct Parameter Access but if you dont want this for Live Performances, the Digitakt might be the better choice. Yes, the TR-8s delivers these classic Sounds and they sound pretty neat. But you said it already: You reach the limit quite fast here - they get used pretty quickly. On the Digitakt you use Samples. So its always sounding fresh; depending on which Sample Library you load next ;-) The Digitakt is organized in "Pages" with several functions on each of them. These are shared throughout the Tracks so the Layout and Workflow is very clear and straight forward. You switch Tracks and the Page updates with the Settings of the current Track. 8 Parameters are always accessible at once - but only for a given Track. So you could quickly move through the Tracks and check (or change) their Filter Cutoff for example. Combined with Pattern Reload this opens up great ways to build things up - in case you need it. And im sure you need this one day ;-) The Digitakt is so hands on that its just fun jamming around. And the Sequencer is really straight forward. If you ever had a Sequencer in front of you, you can easily use the Digis Sequencer straight away for all the basic things.. And the more complex stuff is there for you to discover once you feel at home ;-) Give it a try. If it doesnt work for you, you can always return it. Cheers

How are you recording the audio form digitakt? So clean!

The Digitakt was recorded with the Analog Heat via Overbridge. No processing from the Heat itself, just Recording.

Awesome machine, does it bother you much that it doesnt take stereo samples?
@umonox
@umonox 6 лет назад
Doesnt bother me at all. A fast LFO assigned to the Panning of the Track + Delay and Reverb gives the Samples a lot of space if necessary. Plus: I always achieve better and cleaner Mixes since i can precisely place the Mono Samples in the Stereo Field whereever i want them. Everything is much more tidy that way - compared to using Stereo Samples all over the place - whose Stereo Width is already "baked" into the Sample. The Digitakt teaches you the benefits of Mixing in Mono - which was (is) widely used by Producers in a DAW environment since ages.

I actually had this stuck in my head, which rarely happens with RU-vid jams. Well done! Did you use the included samples? Or did you import your own?
@umonox

I've used my own Samples. Well, i mean: Samples from some Sample Packs i bought :-) Thanks!
@christopherthomasrichardso9014
@@umonox do you have a favorite sample company?
@umonox
@umonox 5 лет назад
Not just one, i have several :-) I prefer Samples from Wave Alchemy, Zenhiser and sometimes also Artisan Audio and/or Monster Sounds. Wave Alchemy and Zenhiser in particular are definitely my Favourites though. Their Samples are usually spot on, clean, well produced, with fine attention to Detail and the Sound almost always fits my Style. You can find them at Loopmasters; this is also the place where i usually buy them. Cheers

Wich function does have the E-Encoder? Why you use it so offen, just turn it up and insta down?
@umonox
@umonox 6 лет назад
Functionality depends on the Page you are in. Every Knob on an Elektron Machine always controls different things - depending on where you are. In this example, i control the Filter of a Sound and the Delay Send of another one. Filter should be self-explanatory! The reason i quickly dialed in the Delay on another Sound is due to the Settings of the Delay itself. Its set up in a way that it only makes sense to quickly fire it up in this particular case. Cheers
