I just learned of Dimash two nights ago and literally obsessed, this song gives me chills every time, the vocals are beyond out of this world and this just took first place out of all my favorite songs.❤️🙏🏼

2017: It was a contest, he had to show what he was capable of and he performed just one song. His performance showed the high quality of his voice and talent. He sang for judges. 2020: he was already Dimash, the name, the singer. There was no need to proof to judges his talent. He was singing for his fans, there is emotion over voice (still great voice). More mature performance. And it was a concert, can you imagine how many songs performed before S.O.S and still sang great. I loves both performances.

Dimash is so talented from the start that some improvement is impossible. Even just to keep the level is difficult. When he started to surprise the world he did it just like that. No stress. Now people and also Dimash himself will compare his present and past art. He will be more stressed not to do anything wrong even as an average. To do performance more emotional is also the way how he can cover nervousness that some tone will not be perfect. He can wait, he can change it or to do emotional gesture instead of difficult tone or virtuoso transition. He feels more and more responsibility. That’s the problem of genial people. Also is difference between singing just one song and full concert. Dimash is genial.

Both are amazing, but in New York he is so much more mature emotionally. His interpretation has improved so much!

He definitely struggled more with high notes now, but still hits them and has way more control overall than he used to. He’s way better overall now than he was. Also, he can go a lot higher more consistently now than he used to. He just can’t do lots of high notes over and over like in concerts and stuff easily anymore. In single song performances though, oh my.

Both versions are amazing and I can tell he's improved his French pronunciation a bit over the years although there's a part of the song where he always has the lyrics wrong and never corrected it in any performance : after "Au grand lotto de l'Univers (At the big lottery of the Universe)" he's supposed to say "J'ai pas tiré l'bon numéro (I didn't catch the right number)". But it's alright as the interpretation is flawless

The pronunciation definetly improved a lot, but he's still struggling with correct lyrics. A bit of personal preferences: no "J'ai pas envie d'être un robot - métro, boulot, dodo" line just kills me, I think it's kinda iconic

He is still great but he is a man y’all it’s natural for it to get lower as u can see in 2020 he is more mature so is his voice he has stronger lows and weaker highs now it was the opposite way before he can still go high but he struggles with his range a bit more as u can hear

Beaucoup de capacités vocales mais la prononciation des mots en français manquent de définition. Par le fait même nous perdons le sens du texte. 2017 ou 2020 c'est le même problème.

Live TV version (so with some post-editing in terms of sound - that goes for everybody, it's the norm) vs Live "televised" concert version (post-edited too? that would be kinda standard as well (nothing derogatory here, you know). The 2020 version sounds obviously more mature and sung with more emotions even tho these, IMO, were not his best vocals . He struggled a little bit with passaggios (transition) from registers and with up-front head voice. You can tell by the way He used glissandos to get into the right head-voice note while he usually hits it with ease straight away (04:57 - 06:30 - 07:32) and by some imperfections (05:59 first note was totally off-pitch but he got by and got the rest pretty much ok). At times he also sounds out of breath or with some diaphragm issues (from 07:17, the way he ends the two phrases). So... given both performances were "televised" and filled with the usual dose of post-editing I'm still going with the 2017 (at least between these two perfomances). Or maybe it's just like first love. You always go back to it :) ps: this was not intended as a derogatory comment toward Dimash. Just my honest analysis and explanation on why I chose one version instead of the other
