I don't have words to describe how much I enjoy your reactions. Your intelligence and deep understanding and feeling of his talent is truly enjoyable. By far - the best Dimashes reactor- for me😊 Thank you William!
Wahhhhh I was screaming when the humming was cut off 😂😂 it was the best part , glad you redo it. As I was commenting earlier, name me a musician whose 1st language is not in English and yet pack the stadium listening to him singing in Kazakh, Russian, Chinese, Italian English and Japanese, no one only Dimash. He unites people from different countries, cultures and backgrounds different ages. He have concert tomorrow in Almaty and people from all over the world flew to Kazakhstan to see him. He is once in a lifetime gift for us to listen to him, he’s artistry is beyond, a very charismatic person and powerful stage present. He owns it whatever genre he sings.
Gosh you were right. So unmusical to cut the end - though I’m just not his many people actually make that far!! Anyway, I took it down, fixed and reloaded it.
Good morning. I really enjoy your reactions. At the moment a lot of Dears are preparing for his concert. Thousands of people from more than 50 countries came to Kazakhstan to see him, because we love and respect him so much. It is a big, multicultural party! Greetings from Germany, right now from Almaty🇰🇿🇩🇪.
For now, this is my absolute favorite performance of Dimash. I am sure this will change as he continues to put out music. I love his vocals so much. ❤💗💖
The most beautiful song in the world sung by the greatest singer of all time - simply doesn't get better than this. I love everything Di does, but this song hits my soul in a way that totally bewitches me. Singing in Japanese is hard because depending on your emphasis on this syllable or that syllable, you can alter the meaning. Dimash is exquisitely determined that he do it right, so his pronunciation and emphasis in this song is gobsmackingly perfect. Doesn't seem fair lol - not only can he sing across those octaves and in languages completely unfamiliar to him [as was the case with this song], and in perfect pitch, but he is 6'3"and stunningly good looking, in like an old world movie star way...I imagine this IS the voice of angels out there in the heavenly bodies, so he is perfect. Why hasn't a lot of the Western World not found him yet?...probably because Di has not signed with a major label so he can retain full artistic control over all he does. I get frustrated by the fact that he isn't more well known, but I also believe things are as they are for a reason - I would hate Di to be at the mercy of a label and have to yield some/all of his artistic control.... - great reaction William :)
@@BangkokVoiceCoach not as far as I know William - he has been approached by several, and in time he may well sign some sort of contract, but as far as I know he is completely independent. In 2020 he signed with IPZ [an American talent promotion agency] Now, having said that, I am for sure certain there are Dears here who will know for 100% one way or the other :)
if it weren't for his father, he would have been world known by now. He works not just without contracts, but without producers and promoters of decent level. Igor practically made a golden gift to him allowing to sing his songs without a contract. Dimash shined in China, Russia, made great mv in collaboration with Americans. His father brings him back to Kazakhstan. What a waste of unique talent.
Ikanaide (Please, Don't Go) was composed in 1989 by Japanese singer-songwriter Koji Tamaki, with lyrics written by Goro Matsui. It tells the true story of Yoshiko Yamaguchi, who was born in China in 1920 to Japanese parents and became a celebrated singer and actress under the Chinese name Li Xianglan. After WWII she was accused of espionage, tried, and deported to Japan, never to return to China again. The song speaks of the anguish, heartbreak, and final acceptance of this parting as the ones who loved her had no choice but to let her go.
Thank you, thank you! About Yin and Yang - it's magical! Finally, finally I heard it! That in whatever register Dimash sings, there is always him, his core, and in no way there are different voices, that he sings like a man, and then like a woman - NO!!! Always, it's Dimash, you can't confuse him, it's a Marcelito imitator - one verse with a male voice, the second with a female voice, and Dimash always has this duality and his soprano is not female, but male, as in his traditional voice, this softness and tenderness! He is a lyrical tenor in timbre, and if you consider that his zodiac sign is Gemini, all this duality of this sign is reflected in his singing! Bravo!
Dimash not only satisfies every musical genre, he satisfies all generational age groups. Yes, this one sung in Japanese, with many Japanese Reactors making special note of his excellent accent, though not being a Japanese person. Also out of interest ,Covid prevented Dimash from actually being present at the Tokyo Jazz Festival, hence this studio version. Great reaction William, and so your journey continues that doesn't require you to seek further musical perfection as you have now discovered it. If Dimash's music be the food of love, give us excess of it!
As Jim mentioned below it is hard to pick favorites of Dimash and this is one of his best but for me Marigolds is near the top because he sings so softly and just at the point of breaking. Also his mom is in the audience. It is also one of the saddest songs he has ever done. One of the best songs Dimash has ever done and I really think more reactors should react to it. I do like your point of how he combines the masculine and feminine and mixes them. I really think this is one of the reasons why he hits like a sledgehammer in some of his songs.
One of my Top 3 from Dimash. What he does with this beautiful song is exquisite. I like what you said about the yin yang of Dimash's voice. I've marveled at the way he can sing coloratura notes, yet somehow you can still tell that it's a man singing those notes. Hope your foot is continuing to improve so that you can walk with your adorable nephew even more easily.
Thank you Snarky! Yes it’s this combination of masculinity and his softness and openness that mean even his highest notes are still full of Earth. It really is miraculous.
I was worried you missed the ending where Dimash presents one more vocal gift...humming. Thank you for including it at the end of your commentary. Dimash's Ikanaide is a masterpiece of perfection. Any vocal student would benefit by studying it.
Every aspiring singer should have this on repeat and learn from Dimash. His technique, voice control and pitch perfection is just out of this world. My favorite Dimash song. ❤️❤️❤️
I am crazy about his wisper breathy voice. The emotion he stirs up in me is so special. His voice is like a drug for all your negative emotions. Just one of his songs and it puts me in the best of moods. You can call me a Dimashoholic😀😀😀. My Gentle Giant Dimash. Greetings from South Africa.
Thank you for reacting to Dimash! Ikanaide is one of my top favorites;) I think Dimash is both conductor and orchestra! Whatever he is, I worship at the altar of Dimash. He exemplifies all of our hopes, and wishes, and dreams of a world of peace and respect, of love and tenderness, of excellence and effort, of kindness and strength. And more! Hello from a California Dear ;)
Hello, WILLIAM!!!
This is one of my top five of Dimash’s songs. It’s really hard to pick the favorites. I’ve been following him since 2017 when he was on the Singer competition. I’ve never heard anyone like him. His concert in Kazakhstan will be tomorrow. They’ve shown some scenes of preparations. I’m thinking this concert will be over the top. I can’t wait to see videos of it. I so envy everyone who will attend. Enjoyed your comments. Looking forward to more….Love is Like a Dream, Olympico, Daybreak(Bastau concert), Know(Moscow), Passione(Moscow).
So glad to have you with us! I have been watching and listening to Dimash for over five and a half years. I never tire of him. He touches my soul every day! He is exquisite in so many ways. I am so glad I am living at the same time he is! Please continue to react to him. Dimash calls his fans "Dears" because we feel like family to him. Tomorrow ( Sept. 23) he is giving a big concert in Kazacstan. Thank you for your wonderful reaction!! 😉🇺🇸
Truly Dimash can convey emotion across all languages. His expressivité and genuine connectivity transcends all language barriers. Beautiful reaction (you had me on tender hooks as to whether you’d hear the last section where Dimash hums). Truly a pleasure to witness your discovery of Dimash. Cheers from Canada!
This was another very enjoyable reaction. This is quickly becoming one if not the favorite Dimash performance for me and it invokes a very visceral response in me, just as "Ave Maria" did. I believe this actually was a live performance in that Dimash sang "Ikanaide" live for the Tokyo Jazz Festival Live stream in January of 2021 as it was being recorded. According to several native Japanese speakers, Dimash's pronunciation of the lyrics is nearly flawless. One native speaker, who gave a detailed analysis, stated that he is "expressing Japanese more (better) than Japanese" and that he does not only perfectly pronounce Japanese but "expresses Japanese…with Japanese emotion.". Goro Matsui, who wrote the lyrics to "Ikanaide," posted on his Twitter account that he has never heard a foreigner sing in Japanese in such a beautiful way. Tamaki Kōji composed the music and performed the song in 1989. "Ikanaide" became the title song for the Chinese-Japanese TV series "Farewell, Li Xianglan," filmed that year. It is the story of Yoshiko Yamaguchi, a beloved Chinese-born Japanese actress and singer during World War II who hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan. Following the war, when the Chinese became aware of her Japanese heritage, she was accused of being a spy and sentenced to death by firing squad for treason and collaboration with the Japanese; she had been involved in the production of Japanese propaganda films. Thanks to the intervention of influential friends, she was cleared of all charges but urged to leave China or risk being lynched. She resettled in Japan, where she would continue to enjoy a successful acting career. In the 1950s, she moved her acting career to Hollywood and Broadway under the name Shirley Yamaguchi but returned to Japan in 1959, retiring from acting. She would go on to become a TV presenter and eventually a politician. She did not return to China for nearly 20 years. In 1990, "Ikanaide" was translated into Cantonese and sung by Jacky Cheung using the same melody. Later, the song was rewritten and translated for Jacky Cheung to Mandarin under the title "Late Autumn." In 2004 the Taiwanese singer Terry Lin adapted the song into a new version titled "In Deep Autumn," with lyrics written by Daryl Yao. Dimash chose the 2004 Taiwanese version arranged by Terry Lin with Mandarin lyrics for his performance at the 2017 "I Am A Singer" competition but gave it his own interpretation and titled it "Autumn Strong." This song went on to earn Dimash the "Best Foreign Singer" award during the Golden Melody Award in Hong Kong. Here are the original lyrics to "Ikanaide": Ikanaide (ee-kanaa-eedayy) Please Don't Go Away by Koji Tamaki Nothing visible, nothing I have been crying throughout Not because I feel sorrowful But because of the delight of feeling your warmth Ah… Please don't go away, please don't go away Please don't ever ever let us separate Ah… Please don't go away, please don't go away Let's remain this way Someday your heart will be somewhere afar That everything will turn into memory Though it's better not to know Though it's better not to know Ah… Please don't go away, please don't go away Whenever it is, don't let us separate Ah… Please don't go away, please don't go away Let's remain this way
Hello Sir Your reactions are amazing Dimash is a compendium in the art of singing well. Dimash is "THE VOICE" of modern times and i say only so, not to hurt susceptibilities. There is still so much to react to and so many musical works of art. Thank you for your sensitivity.
ikanaide = no te vayas. Simplemente emocionante y conmovedor. Saludos cariñosos desde Santiago de Chile.
Thank you very much for another wonderful response to Dimash. You are so pleasant to listen to and I enjoy following you on your way through the world of Dimash😊👍
Thank you so much for your insightful reaction. You summarized, what I was feeling about feminin and maskulin energy in his singing. He mastered that absolutely and brings that feeling of being in perfect harmony to all of us, who are open for. It.
Thank you for sharing your expertise and thoughts. I love your observations. This is the 1st time that Dimash has sung in Japanese. There is a Chinese version of this story with the same melody but different lyrics, called 'Autumn Strong'. Dimash has sung it many times and each is gorgeous an a bit different from each other. This performance of Ikanaide is a masterclass. Dimash's control is insane and unmatched. His use of breath is stunning. The ending is the most beautiful ending of a song that I've ever heard.
I love how Dimash ended the song too & his Japanese gesture & bow at the end just seems like he was showing respect for the song & the Japanese people too. Beautiful ❤️ 😍
Mathias
I'm guessing one of the reasons Dimash isn't know so much in the Western World is that Dimash will not sell his soul to a big record company. He has a desire to do his own thing rather than be dictated to. I could be wrong - just my read on it. Great reaction again, thank you.
So glad you reviewed this, it is STUNNING vocal. Check out the version sung in Chinese. AUTUMN STRONG. I adore his feminine/ masculine expressed in his voice. Hoping you get to review, Sinful passion, in Russian, where he does something vocally , different, won't say to spoil your reaction. Don't give up on Dimash and fans, appreciate your time and passion for music, so evident. THANKYOU X.
I'm so glad you could finally hear this song. Thank you very much for your sincerity and sensitive perception of music. All the best to you! 🎶💖Dimash performed this song for the first time in China at a singing competition (in Chinese it is called "Autumn Strong". The music of this composition was created by the Japanese composer and singer Koji Tamaki on the text of the poet and composer Goro Matsui. This song is about the fate of a Chinese actress, Japanese by nationality Yoshiro Yamagushi, who was born in China. During the Sino-Japanese War, she hid her Japanese origin by taking the name Li Sang Liang. After the end of the war, her secret was revealed, her real name became public. The authorities accused the actress of "cultural espionage." Humiliated and insulted, she was deported to Japan, having been banned from entering the Celestial Empire. She was never able to return to China. In 2014, the actress died. The unsurpassed performance of Koji Tamaki's song "Autumn Strong" can be viewed on RU-vid. The author of the song "IKANAIDE" ("Don't Go Away") Goro Matsui highly appreciated Dimash's performance, writing on his Twitter that the first foreign singer who performed the song in Japanese felt so deeply and conveyed the content of the song.
Thank you so much Dear William for sich an excellent analysis and reaction to Dimash singing Ikanaide. I love your channel and it is such a joy to watch you. Dimash is extraordinary . For me this is one of his best performances. Bravo Dimash. His voice penetrates deep into my soul. ❤😮😊
Dimash appeared (online) at the abu Tv song festival as a special guest with the song "Ikanaide". This legendary composition was first performed in Japanese by Dimash at this Tokyo Jazz Festival on November 28, 2021. The Abu Tv song festival is the largest concert for professional musicians in Asia, which takes place as part of the annual general assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, to which Dimash is invited. Thank you so much for your beautiful reaction ❤ Dimash make me feel very happy with every performances. although this song is sad, because of the message of love it carries. but hearing his voice and the feeling with which he sings it, makes my day so much better.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️
Everything he sings, he sings with so much passion and belief. While I don't know the language I feel that if I did know it I'd believe every word he said! His body language, facial expressions is just beautiful. As old as I am (over 80) if I were to gho today, I would want my last sounds to hear, would be Dimash singing. I could enter the hereafter with a smile!
Hi William, Thank you for your reactions. I thoroughly enjoy them and also your gentle sense of humour I always agree with your insights. I came upon Dimash after listening to a highly gifted young singer on Britain’s got talent. Then I surfed the internet hoping for more superb singers. What synchronicity to then find Dimash! My first reaction was: he sings with every cell of his body. Next was: how magnificent and brave to unite the female and male aspects. Then I thought - being a very cynical 74 year old woman - he’s either got a very good line or he’s a phenomenal human being. I suspended judgement and listened to as much Dimash as I could, also watched interviews and the Guides to Dimash until I was convinced. I think that The story of one sky clinched it. Please carry on reacting. How about Weekend? Maxine from Johannesburg, South Africa
Hi Maxine, How nice to hear from you in South Africa. Do you know every week I have some kind of increased connection with your county! And I have not yet been there... Dimash is truly amazing human being with a genuine mission to promote love in this world. There is no one on the planet like Dimash. He is astonishing in so many ways. The Story of One One Sky is a complex work and I believe it will be analysed fo decades to come. - Will
Dimash is killing me. Sometimes I think that my heart can’t take listening to him anymore! ❤️🙏❤️ Thank you very much, William, for your reactions to Dimash 🙏❤️
Love your reactions! And, yes, while everything Dimash touches is perfect, this......This to me, as well, is the epitome of perfection!! It's the nuances and the emotion and the perfect interpretation, and his voice....and, oh, that humming at the end is sublime!! ❤
Thanks. Greetings from Brasil.
He sang this song combining the two languages Chinese and Japanese in his last three concerts un Dubai, Dusseldorf and Prague. Maybe he will sing it today in Almaty too. A great concert is going to take place with Dears from 68 countries present there.
Dimash has a concert in Almaty tonight with a crowd of 30000 people at 8pm their time. He is apparently going to perform 31 songs. It will be live streamed on RU-vid. Temptation, hey?
What a beautiful voice! Impossible not to feel about to cry when listening to him sing ikanaide. Thank you William, you are one of the best if not the best among Dimash reactors.
@@BangkokVoiceCoach Sorry, my mistake. For some reason I thought you stopped before the humming. I went back and saw that you did indeed watch the entire performance. I humbly apologize and want to let you know I once again proved myself to be a Dumb Blond woman. SORRY on bended knees. 👱♀👱♀👗👗👠👠💓💓🙏🙏🙏🙏
