This song was originally written by songwriter Koji Yamaki it is about Yoshiko Yamaguchi Chinese-born during world warII if I'm not mistaken . Dimash doesn't realized how good he is and that's what makes him the best. He sang with so much passion and emotion. I never get tired listening to his music it was perfectly getting better. I literally bow down to him he is really absolutely fantastic. Thanks for sharing this song miss glaMARIAstyle I'm one of his secret fan.

The person glorified by Dimash in the song is a Japanese, Yoshiko Yamaguchi who was born in Manchuria China. Since small, she went by the Chinese name of Li Xianglan; she had vocal training by an Italian soprano dramatist. She sang beautifully in Chinese, Japanese and Russian too. Later she had a successful career as an actress and singer in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the USA. At Hollywood she went by the name Shirley Yamaguchi. During the war she acted in Japanese propaganda films. After the war the Kuomintang had her arrested for treason; the popular singer scorned by the Chinese community. Some Russian friends managed to locate her birth papers to show that she was a Japanese thus saving her from being executed by a firing squad. Instead a decision was made to deport her to Japan although she was China born. At the port, ironically the port's speakers were playing her songs before her ship departed for Japan. The original song is in Japanese titled "Ikanaide" sung by Koji Tamaki. She did return to China but only 20 years later, as a member of the Japanese parliament. Before she died she did hear this song; she cried.

This song is , supposedly, well known in China. Dimash learned this song, in Mandarin, in a week. He does not speak the language. Nevertheless, the audience was transfixed, many weeping. This was very courageous move on his part and resoled in one of his most amazing performances.

I think you would like "Ogni Pietra" , has a more powerful Operatic sound in lower register . I like the Kremiln version best for presentation, Sochi for best sound quality.
