Debbie, let me add a snippet of background to this song. Kenes composed this melody (30+ yrs ago) to accompany a poem written by famous Kazakh poet and friend- Shomishpay Sariev, to celebrate his daughter's forthcoming marriage. Kenes upon reading the poem was reminded of his beloved sister who died at age 19. She who would never have the joy of marriage was his influential tone for this piece. In the original poem, when Shomishpay, as father of the bride, questions his daughter's new destiny in the lyrics-- Kenes skews the meaning to imply loss and what might have been via the music's sad undertones. It is one of DIMASH'S most heart felt performances. Makes me cry every time. 😢 Luv yr reactions btw.
I wanted to send exact this information, to Debbie, but you already did a perfect job. This is the version I like most , eventhough, the version of the Digital Concert, is wonderful too. I Cry every time.
Thanks Debbie! This song is about the love of a father for his daughter who is getting married, and his mental appeal to her. Prehistory of "Qaragym Ai". The lyrics of this song were written by Shomishbai Sariev more than 25 years ago and are dedicated to his daughter, who was getting married. Composer Kenes Duysekeyev, at the request of his friend Shomishbay, wrote music to accompany the words, which reflects the composer's sadness about the never-to-be-carried-out wedding of his 19-year-old sister who passed away. According to the composer, Dimash was able to convey to the audience the emotions and feelings that the authors put into them. Let me recommend you to watch the song "QUARAGYM-AI" performed by Dimash in "Dimash Digital Show" (2021)
Duiskeev's father and sister (19) had died when he was about 5 years old. Growing up, becoming an artist, he always wanted to compose a song in memory of his sister, to create a musical monument. "If my father and my sister were alive, when my sister found her mate and was on the verge of their new life, my father would have blessed them and sang this for them." For him, this served as an imaginary song from a father to his daughter. This beloved thought of his, to honor his sister, met the theme of the poet's poetry (written for his own daughter's wedding). This is how the song "Qaragym Ai" was born. /// History of Dimash's performances of this song : In April 2016 a great concert was held for the composer's 70th birthday. Dimash also wanted to sing, asking the composer to give him permission to perform this song. However, Kenes Duisekeev wasn't sure if Dimash, who wasn't even 23, could convey the song's deeper message, so he watched a rehearsal of Dimash, and was convinced to give him a chance. And then he finished by hugging Dimash with surprise and delight at the end of the performance, at the festive concert : in Dimash's interpretation one could hear the song of a father who sang very gently, loved his daughter infinitely and overflowingly, and was worried about her. (2016 version - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zuWkpL-1Ipg.html ) With this performance in October 2020, Dimash changed his interpretation of the song "Qaragym Ai", turning it into a heartbreaking requiem for a teacher. For the world. Since 2020, Dimash focused his interpretation on the fleeting aspect of life, and added a more philosophical and sorrowful nuance to it. In an interview from 2019 Dimash mentions how fortunate he felt being in Kenes Duiskeev's class (he was studying Composition). Literally like winning a prize. And talks a bit about his teacher and what the classes are like. And he was saying that even though the teacher is very serious and has a surly expression, during classes he feels as he is having tea with his grandfather :) ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Bbr2fLKoppE.html - 2019 interview about family, future plans, The Singer period, meeting Jackie Chan, being recognized on the street for the first time during The Singer etc. )
Such a beautiful and sad song. I think the saddest Dimash song is when he sang "SOS" at his London concert in honour of his best friend who had recently been killed. He really went through some hard things during those years. It's no wonder he sang "Omir Oter" shortly afterward.
Hello Beautiful Debbie, This is one that for some reasons hits me hard in the heart. I am glad you are reacting to some of the "traditional" songs that Dimash performs.
I know u know the story of this song's origins. But I haven't seen what I am about to share. A very young Dimash wanted to sing this song and asked for permission to do so. The proffessor, which composed the music , said to Dimash that he, dinah, wud have to perform it for him the proffessor 1st. So that was arranged. The proffessor, did not think that the young Dimash ( about 17 I think) would really appreciate and understand the depth of the lyrics. Dimash performed the song for the proffessor, who was astounded to find that indeed Dimash's performance showed gr8 understanding and Dimash was allowed to sing it. The proffessor attended the concert and gave Dimash a standing ovation. This cemented their deep friendship. When the proffessor knew he was dieing, he asked Dimash to perform this rftr his passing for him. Heart rendering!!!!!!!ì Loved your closing words at the end of your comments, quite beautiful. 🙏
This performance is one of the saddest I have ever seen. It demonstrates - if needed - that Dimash does not need to hit crazy high notes or make vocal acrobatics to create a masterpiece. I am used to say that he is so more than the best vocalist ever: his deep ability to convey emotions is, to me, his most impressive talent, without which he would only be an excellent singer with excellent vocal skills. Dimash is an artist in the deepest sense of the term. This is why he is so loved by his fans, because he shares his soul and his heart with each of us, without any malice or hidden face, he is pure, upright and totally dedicated to his art. He is unique.
You might enjoy Dimash singing Marigold (Chornobryvtsi), a well known folk song in Ukraine. Dimash performed it during his first solo concert in Kiev during his Arnau tour (March, 2020). I say "enjoy", but it is a bittersweet song and never fails to bring tears to my eyes. There are no fireworks in his singing; he doesn't use his diverse range or reach into the many tone qualities he is capable of with his magnificent voice--he just expresses his heartfelt emotion. He asks the audience to join in the singing at one point, which adds to the poignancy of the piece. In an interview, Dimash said that he learned the song the night before the concert as a gift to his Ukrainian audience, where the marigold is a treasured flower, and in tribute to his own mother. The lyrics speak of the author's memories and love for his elderly mother--you need to either read the lyrics before you listen or have the subtitles on as you watch; they are such an important part of the song. Dimash's mother was in the audience at the concert, and the video shows her a few times as she listens to him. At first her pride and love for her son on the stage shines on her face; by the end there are tears of emotion in her eyes. And as I said above, it always makes me tear up, too. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Xlx2pmO3JzU.html
Спасибо за душевную реакцию. Очень люблю это произведение, всегда плачу, слушая его. 😢 Димаш, это душа которая показывает нам, как нужно любить свою Родину, близких, родных и в целом нашу многострадальную Землю. 🙏
This was the saddest time and the saddest song Dimash ever sang, I still cry every time this song comes up. Thank you Debbie and helping promoting Dimash.
Thank you for your sincere reaction. The song "Karagum ai" became the music of personal mourning, a heartbreaking requiem for the teacher, friend Kenes Duisekeyev, who died as a result of covid. The song was performed in October 2020 without an audience at a concert in Nur-Sultan dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the concert organization in Kazakhstan - Kazakhconcert. The auditorium is empty, there were no live concerts in October. There are only two men on stage - singer Dimash and pianist Adilzhan Tolykpaev. The endless loneliness and pain of two men shaken by a senseless death. Two of the teacher's students, who have already become creators themselves, are grieving. 🙏❤️
Thank you so much for your beautiful reaction 😢 I lost my father and my sister in the pandemic with Covid-19 and as you say we all identify with this performance by Dimash.😢
Спасибо, песни Ди на казахском, это отдельный вид искусства, тонко, душевно, всегда до слез и дрожи ❤❤❤ Но мне ещё хочется, чтобы вы увидели и другую сторону Димаша, озорную, весёлую, энергичную, в треках " Be with me ", " Screaming idol hits ", " Give me your love ", " Golden ", ZHALYN",
I never got through the first sentence . My heart breaks for him ,he just looked devastated. The song is so beautiful and sung from Dimash’s heart . Such a lovely heartfelt tribute to his beloved teacher ,who made such an impact on this young man’s life .
DImash and the piano player were both students of the fallen teacher, in who's memory they were performing. While it was gut wrenching and haunting, it was also achingly beautiful.. Almost as affecdting on me was the empathic pain evident in your eyes as you watched him sing. You have a gentle soul. I think Dimash would like you very much!
Hello Debbie Qaragym Ai concert dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Kazach concert. Dimash dedicated his performance to great composer Kenes Duysekeyev from Kazachstan, he was Dimash's mentor teacher in the masterprogramma Kazach National University of Arts . The words of Qaragym Ai where wrote more then 26 years ago dedicated to the daughter of Shomishbay Sariev ,who was getting married . At the Request of his friend Shomisbay Nagashbeavich. Kenes Duysekeyev wrote the music to the words, wich in return reflected the composer sadness about the wedding never come true from his 19 year old sister, who passed away. In the performance of Dimash ,this song came to life in the composer's memories. According to Kenes, Dimash was able to conversation to the audience those emotions and feelings that the autor of the words 26 years ago had put in to them including the feelings of the composer Kenes himself . Dimash sings Qaragym Ai as a tribute to Kenes Duysekeyev who in oktober 2020 had died of Covid. You're right Debbie the pandemic was profound we lost a lot Thanks❤ for your reaction

Thank you for doing this. I was one of the people who suggested it. Not many reactors feature this one and I think it is so special. For some fun, maybe try the mv Be With Me. Lots of surprises in that one. But I’m sure there will be other songs suggested and I don’t want to be greedy, since you did Quaragym-ai for me. P.s. I’m going to his concert in may in Turkey. I’m from the U.K. (Christine)
No, I’m not in a fan club. I don’t really know about joining fan clubs. I must investigate. I’ve been to Latvia and Dubai to see Dimash. I’ve literally got the t-shirt, a fridge magnet and a birthday card, so far. I have this little collection in my spare room at home, ha ha. I’m a 78 year old. I didn’t have pin ups pics on my wall as a teenager but I am absolutely besotted with Dimash. I just can’t help myself. My husband teases me but he has sorted out all the arrangements to get me to these countries, so I’m very grateful to him.
There is another stunning performance of this song in Dimash's Digital concert, with his backup singer Zarina at the piano. If you like the "guests in this life" theme you should do the music video for Omir Oter. For a total change of pace though, I again suggest the BE WITH ME music video; it will knock your socks off; no Kleenix required!
Please react to his performance from the song “ We are One “. This song occurred in the pandemic of Covid. DIMASH sung this song in promoting the unity of humanity in strength to fight the Covid. You will witness his care for all of us during the hard time. Thanks again for the great reaction. 100 likes !
A very touching song and the way he delivers it is absolutely heartbreaking. Even without understanding the lyrics and reading the subtitles, I feel so much pain in his voice that I have a lump in my throat listening to him. 😢 Well, I guess it's time to put a smile on your face Debbie and I think I've found something you'll like. A video of our Dimash when he was very young, I believe he was 13-14 years old during this performance, I am not sure. He is so adorable and we feel that he already has this gift of reaching his audience. The name of the song is Kebek Batyr. here is the link; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_1R-K4tJesY.html Thank you for continuing to react to this unique artist. I know your admiration for him is sincere.🙏 Big hug from Canada🥰❤
Thank you for choosing THIS particular version! This is what it looks like when a soul bleeds before your eyes . This is one of my MOST favorite songs from Dimash. The subject of Dimash's songs are most often of great importance universally and to him personally. I love the fun joyful songs that he performs, but I so respect that Dimash isn't afraid to go to the deepest and darkest places in the human soul....without softening, without compromise and without apology. ❤🔥
thank you for the reactions to DI, a wonderful person and a wonderful artist, you are already Dears, congratulations, I sincerely wish you good luck and enjoy the creativity of DI ❤
Please check out the song 'We are one' that he sang during the Covid pandemic. It's a great song about love and unity that really helped us all get through those tough times of confinement and loss.
Querida amiga puedes reaccionar a WE ARE ONE, canción de Dimash dedicada a todos los que trabajaron en primera línea en pandemia, es una bellísima canción.
QARAGIM AY / MY DEAR More than 25 years ago, the poet Shomishpay Sariev wrote the lyrics of the song “Karagym Ay”. He wanted to dedicate a song to his daughter, who was getting married. The father puts his feelings and thoughts into the lyrics: how will the life of his daughter and her chosen one turn out, what awaits her? Talks with his daughter about the meaning of life. The poet points out, that the most important meaning of life is love. Life without love is empty. All the wealth accumulated over a lifetime is not worth even one day spent in love. The poet askes his friend, the famous composer Kenes Duisekeev, to write the music for the lyrics. The composer writes the music for the song, recalls his only sister, who did not have time to get married, because she died at the age of 19. Imagines what kind of feelings the father would have experienced if he married her to a man. Therefore, the song turned out not only about the poet’s daughter, who is getting married, but also about the composer's sister, who did not live up to her wedding. The song conveys sadness, the sadness of love which never had a chance to live. (Credits to Dimash Multicultural Club on Facebook) The composer is shown in the background and he died due to the virus in July 2020. He wasn’t only the composer of this song, he also was Dimash‘s teacher/mentor at university and his grandfatherly friend for him. Dimash sings this song so beautifully... in part like a grieving human, and in part like an angel giving someone a sendoff to heaven.
The first note, out of his mouth and the tears start falling. It's such a powerful piece. Thanks for your reaction. If you want a happier song, i realized you haven't watched any of his pop stuff. He's got quite a few ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_hqV3Dm0HPA.html Give Me Your Love from his digital show. I felt like you were talking to me. I lost my precious mother to covid and I live in California, she was in Texas so I didn't get to go. But yes you can see his pain.
Can you plz react to 6 songs that I absolutely love but reactors don’t react to them they are 1 my beauty, a very young Dimash 2 Kazakhstan live at bastau, fantastic beat 3 my swan, there are two, one is a melody very beautiful but my favourite is my swan live at bastau where Dimash sings with his teacher and has a fantastic beat 4 unforgettable day live at gakku where Dimash sings his highest note so far, a massive beautiful D8 note, a note off the piano 5 screaming, live but esp also official video and 6 video of across endless dimensions, this is a fantastic movie track. Thank you
So beautiful and deeply sad. Some have suggested Be With Me for a fun one. I would suggest Durdaraz for a bit of a fun rock and roll vibe with the dombra.
Thank you!!! I'm so happy that you can understand his beautiful soul 💜 You need something more cheerful after this 😊 I want to recommend you We Are One. It's beautiful and positive song, full of hope. Dimash sang it at the beginning of the covid pandemic and the main idea is "United we are strong." And his face, his smile... He really believes, he has hope 🙂 It sounds like his own song but it's not, it was written before but it fits that situation very well. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uFOqN6saP60.html
Hi Debbie, what a beautiful and touching tribute to his mentor. Infact, this song was written by his mentor to his daughter, and was proud that Dimash gave it life. He certain is doing the song justice. Love from Canada ❣
This is a most beautiful song and my favourite version of it. Every single syllable is sung in such a heartfelt manner. It is simply stunning. An often overlooked performance, but one of his best. I am loving your reactions👍🥰 please keep going, there is lots more! ♥️You want a "happier" song? Try "Give me your Love" or "Be with me" or "Zhalyn" they will get you dancing in your kitchen! 🤣
The history of this song is as follows. About 25 years ago, the Kazakh poet Shomishpay Sariev wrote the lyrics of the song "Karagym Ai" and dedicated it to his daughter who was getting married. The father put his feelings in the text regarding his concern: what will life be like for the daughter with her boyfriend?, what awaits her ahead? And shares with the daughter about the meaning of life. The poet argues that the most important meaning of life is love. Life lived without love is empty. The poet ask: "Every life lived without love is equivalent to one day lived in love?" It is always sad to leave home and cross the threshold of someone else's house. That's why it's also a bit of a sad time for a daughter. After all, the girl's tears are not from grief, but regret only when parting with her native village, her relatives. The poet asked his friend the famous Kazakh composer Kenes Duisekeev to write music. The composer during the writing of the music for the song recalls his only sister, whom she did not have time to marry and died at the age of 19. He dreamed what a father would have felt if she had married. Thus, the song turned out not only about the poet's daughter, who is getting married, but about the composer's sister, who did not live to see her wedding. Therefore, the song feels sorrow, sadness of failed love. Greetings from Panama.
