Our Dimash is very vocal about the futility and human cost of war. Qazakstan only achieved independence 30 years ago, Dimash is only 28. He knows the history of his homeland and of current and past heroes of the conflict. He detests war and has stated that wars are always between two people not two nations. He has stated that he is 'only a singer' so all he can do is 'use his voice'. This is Dimash's humility and him using his voice. This was a project 3 years in the making on and off in-between commitments in many countries and his homeland not to mention his concerts of which there has been four in just this year alone. The emotion, heart and soul is real and I believe this was a way for him to vent his frustration at current world events. Director Alina Veripya is second to none in her field and portrayed everything magnificently.I believe she also directed ‘Okay’ for Dimash which was a great video. The Story of One Sky is an absolute mind blowing masterpiece and deserves unrivalled recognition from all corners of the earth. This makes you sad, cry and smile but leaves you questioning the direction we as a humans are travelling. Dimash promised something epic and that was a colossal understatement. He delivered as always. ❤💕

Hello from Frnce!! Of course Dimash's voice is full of feelings ... I would conceal you to watch it again, because of the words and the numerous symbols of this masterpiece . I reviewed it several times to make sure I understood everything, from the friendship of the 3 kids (Dimash, Piper the leader and the girl who is Diamsh's wife later in the story giving birth) to the 3 adults they became. The neckless they are all wearing is indeed a gnomon not a "4", part of a sextant, it's an astronomical instrument full of meaning (you can find the esplanations on internet), and the peoples that are lost in the desert are the different peoples of our earth, from different countries, religions, colors, trying to find their way to the Light. And at the end Dimash is the baby (his son in the movie) that finely guides all the people in the right direction, the one of light and life. WE ARE CHOOSING LIFE. You did great with your reaction just watching it once. As you said so much is happening. I watched it three times before I can gather my thoughts on it. So much symbolism! I learned from a German Dear that the pendant is a gnomon from a maritime compass sundial. It was used both for timekeeping and navigation, with the gnomon oriented to North. In the MV all three characters carried the pendant into their adult lives, but the one who became the commander, never puts it on and bends it. It becomes useless for it's true purpose, he 'looses his moral compass'. I also noticed the lyrics;" We have passed the moment of Imagin." I think it's a reference to John Lennon's Imagin song and Dimash is saying, we have to stop dreaming, he calls for action to stop wars. Ahhh and that last scream, "We're choosing life!"... I never heard Dimash scream like that, and 7 times! 7 represents fullness of life it's number of perfection, completeness. We could write a whole dissertation on this production. Thank you for your sincere reaction, it was absolutely priceless! When I first watched this video, it broke me, and I fell apart with emotion. Dimash has worked hard for 3 years on this MV, and it turned out to be the most expensive MV ever made, a real Masterpiece! I believe that Dimash deserves THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE, for his selfless hard work and tireless efforts in trying to bring the world together in love, peace and unity. He is a Legend and will go down in History. The mini movie is full of symbolism, it's the story of 3 youths, 1) Dimash, who was drowning at the beginning and at the end; 2) Piper, the one who saved Dimash, and who became the leader, and who was killed by Dimash at the end; 3) The girl, is Dimash’s future wife who gave birth to his son at the end. They are all torn by war in which Dimash's daughter was killed by the Piper's army. For the symbolic aspect, Dimash is showing the different cultures and religions (Catholicism, Islam, Buddhism, Hindi, etc.), and many references to humanity from Historical times through the men walking together to find the light, regardless of their race or religion, which they are from. The Pilgrim or (Shepard or a Wise Man) at the end of the video was Dimash’s baby born in his image and grows up to guide the Representatives of different religions and race from different Nations to the light, for a new beginning living together in peace, tolerance and harmony. I knew this would blow your mind! It needs a few watches to get all the nuances of the story and everything that Dimash is trying to say. His passion is incredible. I spent the whole weekend in tears watching this, it is very powerful. It is his own composition and he has been working on this for 3 years, a total masterpiece! Dimash's willingness to speak out about the horrors of war is both admirable and maybe a bit risky for his career in some quarters, but it is why dears love him so much. The main message of the video is for peace and hope for the future🥰 It is also one of the reasons why he rejects being controlled by a record company. He wants to have the freedom to make his own choices about what songs he sings, what genres he sings in and the message he wants to get across. He is not afraid to use his platform to send a message to the world, and all the world need to hear this one ♥️ Where to go from here? It's a tough one as this really is on another level ....you could try something completely different. Zhalyn a Khazak pop song which he also released recently. Or one of my favourite performances is Know vocalise from his Kiev Arnau concert - amazing , and I can't believe you haven't done Ikanaide yet! So many songs so little time 👍😁 🥰

What I felt most amazing was that this young man chose his passion of music to spread a much needed message. Een boodschap die iedereen moet gezien en gehoord hebben. Niet de dictators want die hebben er geen oor naar. The story: 3 childhood friends including 2 boys are in love with the girl. The boy (Dimash) who offers the "talismans" he has made as a sign of friendship, will marry the girl. They will have a baby girl (the one who was killed) and the mother is expecting another baby. The third friend who became president is now his enemy, and when Dimash dies his son is born and his mother dies in childbirth. But the boy is saved by his community made up of people of all origins and religions and wears his mother's talisman. He will grow up as a war orphan and will then become this pilgrim, messenger of peace, worthy son of his father. Or it's Dimash going up to heaven, I don't know, I'm not a believer. Dimash says no holy book calls for war, and we see the procession of all religions united, like a "stations of the cross". Dimash does not mention any particular war because he has been working on this project for 3 years. It is war in general that is evoked here and its consequences, and above all it would be peace if they did not exist. Hello from France :)

It's too much to digest, I agree, that's why I'm sending you a reading of this piece written by a youtuber: “This is subtitled “Requiem”, but it is also a vision and a call to action. Dimash is steeped in sacred music and has a deep understanding of the music teachings and symbolism of the major world religions as well as Kazakh shamanism. It is not by coincidence that the first performance of this work took place on September 14 at the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. The written statement at the end of the video is directly from the “Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together”, signed jointly on February 4, 2019, by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmed el-Tayeb. Dimash met and spoke (and received a medal from Pope Francis for his contributions to the World of Peace) with both men at the September meeting. Everything Dimash does is intentional, and this piece has layers that would take a dissertation to unravel. I’ll only touch on some of what struck me. 1 The pendant is an interesting element. It is a gnomon from a maritime compass sundial. This triangular blade is attached to the sundial, casting a shadow on the sundial, while the perforated pinhole projects the image of the sun onto the dial. It was used for both timekeeping and navigation, with the gnomon oriented to True North. In the Music Video, the child who later becomes the military commander never puts on the necklace. After Dimash, the boy, gives his friend the pendant, the camera focuses on his hand and shows that his friend has bent the gnomon in anger over being rejected by the girl. Thus bent, it can never be oriented to True North, and he has lost his moral compass. Later, we see a version of the gnomon, but distorted and without the hole that allows light to shine through, as the military insignia on the uniforms of the commander and his soldiers. 2 Contemporary music is also present: with the phrase “We have passed the moment of Imagine”, Dimash reminds us that we are past the sentiments evoked by the song “Imagine” by John Lennon. It is time to stop dreaming about a world of peace and harmony. If we choose life, if we wish for peace, if we want a world without war for our children and grandchildren, we must act and take up the long hard path up the mountain towards the light. It is the only way. 3 The storyline is a very human one: we start as innocents until our hearts are broken, we fail, or our dreams are not realized. If in our pain and disappointment we turn to anger and blame instead of acceptance, power instead of love, greed and envy instead of generosity, hatred instead of forgiveness, and revenge instead of justice, we sow the seeds for conflicts that can turn into war. 4 The Piper’s Call is seductive as it promises redress for our grievances, control over our circumstances, and power over those who thwarted us, and this appeals to our wounded ego. However, let’s remember that the Piper is a symbolic figure of Death from the Middle Ages, often used as a metaphor for trusting and following charismatic but dangerous and malevolent leaders to certain death. Even if we resist, as the adult Dimash character does, we often employ the same methods and weaponry as the Piper, and thus those who fight back betray peace as well because peace cannot be won through violence. That is the dilemma of those of us who did not start the war, who do not support war, but are forced to respond in order to defend ourselves and those we love. How can we rid the world of evil without becoming what we fight against? 5 The burning sign “Waldenburg” is a reference to the end of WWII, when the US Army destroyed the last of the resistance by the German Wehrmacht to end the war in April of 1945. Many of the dead were women and children, because all men ages 15 through 75 were mobilized. So, the good guys defeated evil, but at what price? 6 The last movement is powerful: The cries over the loss of a beloved child and the cries of giving birth to new life are presented as a call-and-response grounded by a powerful Om chant that creates a sacred space, reminding us that death and life are both sacraments and are interwoven. Dimash’s vocalization and the pilgrims representing world religions and religious leaders, past and present, walking together shift the narrative toward the final conflict and finally redemption. When Dimash’s character decides to avenge the murder of his daughter, his state of consciousness is reflected in the darkening sky with lightning bolts of anger accompanying the storm of his emotions that struck the pilgrims sharply. The fog of war obscures the light. When he is killed after exacting retribution, he is dropped back into the “sacred womb” of Earth, the ocean of love and mercy and is cleansed of the old hatreds and grievances that only bring more death and suffering. He breaks the wheel of endless war by choosing life. Dimash’s scream “We’re choosing life” is that of giving life: the old earthly consciousness of an eye for an eye has to die to make way for a new spiritual consciousness that embraces all life. Soul is breaking free to return to its natural state of love and purity as examplified by the images of the children and the newborn baby. The blowing of the shofar signals God’s mercy for humankind when it turns from wrong to right. Reborn as a leader for peace and love, Dimash’s character becomes a guide for all of mankind on our shared journey up the mountain towards the light of God, however we may interpret or name the divine. We are all on the same path, even if our personal narratives, cultural heritage and spiritual orientations are very different from one another. By focusing on our common destination rather than on our differences, we can walk together in peace and love and mutual respect. Dimash is showing us how. Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who founded analytical psychology, wrote: “Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely. Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” This is what Dimash has done with this work: he has made the darkness conscious. We can only raise our individual and collective consciousness by bringing to light what needs to be healed in our lives and our world, and then we need to work together to restore wholeness to what is broken and bring about peace and unity, one step at a time.” We don’t have to wait. We can start right now. This is Dimash’s message to those in power. He urges them to follow their hearts. He tells them that nothing that exists is, or could ever be, outside of God. We are never outside of God - and never without God within us.

I do believe that Dimash's wife in this, does survive. She gives birth to the boy, but I don't think she died from that. The people all around her made me think that they must have felt that this child would be special. Thank you for this reaction, it one that needs to be seen world wide

This song is perfection both emotionally and vocally. To me, and I'm sure to many, it's the best thing anyone has ever sung and recorded, and the most valuable. This video brings one to the brink of despair yet shows that life endures and hope lives on from generation to generation! Profound performance by Dimash and all those who participated in the artistry of this production! The first lyrics are so telling "Can't believe what is happening at all PIPER'S crazy, we are bound to fall" seems to me to relate to a Pied Piper leading others astray! Showing his immense grief going to his home and finding his household, his daughter all dead. As he dies his son is born. You see the baby wearing the mother's sign of love and life and then he is shown grown into the very image of his father wearing the same necklace walking toward a dawning new light! My soul cried! Me encantó tu reacción pero mucho más que entendiste perfecto el mensaje que nos quiso transmitir Dimash con esta obra de arte. Como bien dices es mucho para digerir en la primera vista, este video es para verse y escucharse muchas veces y analizar cada parte. La voz de Dimash resuena por todos lados llegando directo al corazón. Vocalmemte es una belleza de canción. En cuanto al mensaje es crudo pero muy real y tristemente muy actual.
