GUITARS TUNED DOWN ONE WHOLE STEP - Low to high D G C F A D NOTE: To play along with the recording, tune down an additional quarter step. VIDEO + TRANSCRIPTION IS IN GUITAR WORLD APRIL 2007
Jeremy Tapp I had a beer with him backstage 94 far beyond driven tour. I actually had the lead singer of Prongs’ beer in my hand when we toasted, but that’s another story.....
He seems like he would have been the coolest dood ever to hang out with. "of course it's always one of them things right off the top of the cuff you know, its like, *scchht* there it is, sounds good, leave it alone, perfect."
Hands down One of the Most nicest dudes Anyone could ever have the pleasure of meeting, We miss You Dime Your Forever With Me an All The Pantera Fans RIP Brother!! 💀 🎸 🎶
i like the way how he plays the start without the bends and harmonics - it sounds COMPLEATLY different to when he bends and uses harmonics - truly amazing intro Rip
Me- listens to song, “yeah, I think I could do this” - clicks vid, “yes! I can play the riff in the verses and chorus!!” - hears solos... - I need a new guitar
dayumn what a awsome person dime was,ive seen every video of him on the internet&he's got a smile on his face in every single one of them, wish i had gotten the chance to meet him&tell him thank you for inspiring a 38 year old man to not only learn how to play, but to collect his sidnature guitars,i have 7 of them&they bring me so much joy&pleasure.thank you dime, you will live thru me&the kids in my family, even the 17 month old baby knows who u r&ur name.rest easy brother
The vid makes me in awe with his playing... ...Makes me laugh with his one-of-a-kind humor.. ...Makes me sad of what we all lost... ...Makes me enraged at what was stolen from the world... RIP DIME
If there wasn't video of him playing this, I'm not sure anyone would have figured out what he was doing, especially with the combination of sliding, pinch harmonics and bending, all in a single note ❤ What an expressive player. I still miss him 😢
Dime shredded and made it look so easy. As a teenager he was so ahead of his time and won all guitar competitions to the point he was banned from competing so they made him a judge. He liked to party but he also liked to jam out with other guitar players vs hanging out in public. If you appreciate music but don't like their type of music you know he was special. Anyone that knows music can tell its Dime on the guitar without any question by his tuning with that unique sound which made him stand out When Eddie Van Halen shows up at Dime's funeral with his prize guitar honoring him that says it all!
if i play guitar is for this guy and his band. i even think that if i never seen this video maybe i would be in shit. thanks for this lessons and your music. u still alive
I was a junior in high school when this record dropped. I remember hearing "Revolution is My Name" on 92.3 K-Rock in NYC and shitting my fucking self. Not because that station was playing some new heavy shit for a change, but because Pantera was back!! I always respected Dime's humility and genuine nature as this video greatly exhibits. That in conjunction with his guitar heroics make him a Rock Hero for all time. He is proof that only the GOOD die young. RIP Dime and thank you for your music.
Just to let everyone know this song is tuned down 1 whole step plus a 1/4 step dime did alot of his songs like this and yes this is truly a legend he makes this fucking song look easy.
I like how he fucked it up in the beginning and said "shit" and just...went....on.....there will never be another Dimebag Darrell. If you play guitar and enjoy metal, he's a goddamn god.
@MrMusikman24 this guy was mates with nearly everyone in the music industry the guy was friends with people from kerry king to shinedown to nickleback. that shows he was genuinely a great guy to be around and a real talent. we'll all miss you dime, GETCHA PULL!
i noticed that i do the same thing dime does. Granted, he was my initial influence to pick up the guitar but i use my pinky for bar chords and i didnt even realize he did that too. Neat.
thanks for the info! When he was 8 i think he was still fighting over the drumset with Vinnie... but seriously, you gotta practice A LOT to become as good as Dime was. A LOT!!!!
@NewLevelVentura pretty sure the Bill Lawrence. Although he endorsed the Dimebucker Seymour Duncan, he never really used it during his Washburn days. He stuck with the Bill Lawrence XL500's from Stew Mac, which today is the "Bill Lawrence USA" pickup, not the "Bill and Becky" version
@AliceinChains8593 I've been playing for 8 years (only a bit longer than you but still 3 years) and I still can "get out of shape" when downstroking. it takes just jumping into a crazy song and going as long as you can until you finally last the whole song.
Songwriting ability...skill...Dime had it all. Point is, it takes practice to get all of that if you're not born with the gift he had. There are some people out there who learn very quickly when it comes to some things.
It's probably D standard a few cents down. Dime did a lot of those weird tunings (liek Cemetery Gates isn't standard or 1/2 step down...it's between) I can assure you though, Brandonbbad, that it is NOT F#
Dimebag Darrell was...ONE of my Favorite Guitarists. Cowboys from hell is one of the first songs i really liked.. and man.. its just a shame to not have him around today.. i'd really like to listen to his new songs and see him live.. but enough of that. This video deserves 0 dislikes.. and way more views. this guy was a legend.
@AliceinChains8593 I know that sounds kind of a reckless strategy but it just kinda works if you just get pumped and ignore the fatigue. As far as songs that I played to improve my downstrokes, I played along to Last Caress/Green Hell (Metallica's version) and some Slayer stuff like "Postmortem" and played strictly downstrokes as long as I could.
My amp's cutting out on me now. Worried I might have to smack it around like he just did...or just check the cord...maybe even open it up ...er.....something.
@hetfield2x4 really washburn dimes are almost impossible to find and i live in texas dimebags home so you would think i can find one im stuck with dean
