This is a video of Dimebag giving you a guitar lesson Hope you enjoy it! And yeah sorry for the long long long long............absence! I will return soon!
By the time anyone reads my response, shrooms and weed will be legal in most states and they could consume on camera without violating youtube tos; any clips that have titties, coke, tittie fucking, et al, probably need to go to pornhub or ello. Did you know myspace is still the fuck alive? Yeah, no shit bruh.
zach smith I actually know the person he’s teaching in this. Nick Bowcott. He was telling me Dime didn’t want to record, so they spent the whole week together and on the last day they recorded the video. But Dime was telling nick, dude I just wanna hang out with you. But they had to record so they did.
not trying to start shit but, personally I have to tune to a live performance attack tuning, not a pussying around tuning where the strings are cold or not got finger sweat conditions. Kahler's are the shit for quick microtuner adjustments
@@baird2100 please explain what the fuck an "attack tuning" is. Weird how in my 13 years of guitar I've never once heard of "live attack tuning for sweaty fingers"
@@IamEskimoPie i once saw a clip where a guy explains how you tune the guitar the way you play it, so if you hit the string more aggressive when you play, that's the way you hit them when you tune. a lot of people pluck gently when tuning, but hit hard when they play and it can actually cause the guitar to be slightly out of tune because of the dynamic. that mostly wouldn't be an issue on standard tuning but since pantera already uses a quarter step down tuning, that small difference can be felt more if you really wanna be accurate. Now i don't know if the OP was referring to that or something else... But that's the only thing i can think of. I actually tried it out first time i saw that clip and the tuner does show a slightly different value when hitting the note harder or softer.
I took lessons from him at rainbow music too . Yep in downtown Mansfield . He had me take over his lessons in Mansfield after he went to C&S in Arlington .
I listen to Dime’s music just about everyday , but for some reason, this morning , watching this video , I feel especially sad that he’s not around anymore. WTF man... it’s a cold world.
Little children have been ripped to shreds in countless pointless wars, cancer, famine etc. and it took the passing of a guitarist for you to realize that the world is cold? Damn
I used to religiously listen to something from those 4 almost daily, was always either Phil’s one of many side projects, or like Pantera, damageplan. Down, Etc - always was jamming those guys even got a few tats for RIPDIME and Pantera, down. Etc was a huge part of my life growing up 14 for RTS! Now it’s different…still love it all and Listen to a lot just Cannot help yet feel sad when head much of the music now. Was 18 when he left us all it was a rough day skipped school drank some whiskey that weekend w a friend too damn
saw pantera, slayer, static x, scrape, and morbid angel when i was 14. first concert. dime took all of thr picks left when they were done from his mic stand, tossed em in a black tooth and dumped it on me and my buddies. still have the pick. says "the steel has been reinvented" i fuckin love dimebag, always will

per one's personal style, finger strength, strung outness on drugs, drunkeness. + maybe the neck needs a fret dressing/job. for real, does that explain it a little better? it's like legato,
Absolutely man.. Dude had such positive energy and life in him, it just still kinda feels like he's around even though it's been nearly 12 yrs. I got into Pantera young when I came across my dad's cds.. I always wanted to see them live badly, but wasn't old enough before they split. My first concerts were Primus, Ozzfest, & the Jager Music Tour (Killswitch, Mastodon, Slayer) in 04; since Pantera split I wanted to see Damageplan even though I wasn't as big on them as Pantera. Then I found out the morning of the 9th before school that he was killed, and was devastated. My biggest influence learning/playing guitar was gone, and I'd never see him perform live. And it just was hard to believe knowing how good of a dude he was by watching vids of him at cd releases, signings, watching Pantera's vulgar home videos countless times, etc. Won't keep rambling haha but it's a damn shame that scumbag pointlessly killed such a great dude & 3 others, plus those who witnessed it and live with that forever. Famous people as fun loving & down to earth as Dime are rare, can't think of anyone since him who's as loyal to fans and just loved people in general.
+halcyon1871 I can't believe you responded to one of my videos :) Thanks man , you are one of the main reasons i started learning Pantera on guitar , cause it's pretty damn hard , but you made it look really really easy
The amp crapping out is from dirty corroded contacts; for exaple, the fx loop contact points. Normally, a plug that hasn't been plugged in a while needs the patina penetrated. Or just bust the rust off with some wiggle.
the one thing I love about this video is look at the things that went "wrong" during recording and it's still posted... he doesn't care lol.. the life that was in this dude was amazing. no other person or guitarist like him and there never will be
I've always liked how off-the-cuff and innovative Dime's riffs were. Very few guitarists are carrying on the tradition of writing solid, catchy, Sabbath-esque riffs. The way he combines single-note riffs, muting, whammy bar dips, chord slides, string bends, harmonics, etc. -- it all comes together to create some great, powerhouse riffs. Makes me wonder how much more great music Dime would have put out if he were still alive today.
6672rock I would name Dime the #1 metal guitarist of all time any day of the week. He was an original, like EVH.... As soon as you hear him playing anything you know instantly it's him because like EVH he can only sound like himself no matter what song it is. Another thing about him.... He was a really humble guy and honestly wanted others to benefit from anything at all he could teach. I had the opportunity to talk with him during the VDOP tour and he was all too happy to show you stuff and he even let me try it on his own guitar that he had.
Uhh. Pretty sure those 2 good albums he did were followed up by quite a few cds that were flops. Like megadeth recovered after one bad cd. Bands who make 4 bad cds in a row then members go on to make however many shitty cds in bands like damageplan aren't making any new good ever again.
Best 17 minutes I've spent on you tube all time. Dime is the realist and best to every shred on the guitar. We all miss and love you my friend. RIP DLA
Its amazing how he takes a nice riff and turns it into an even better monstrous dime riff with slides, harmonics, bends, and a bit of whammy. Getcha pull!!
Pretty wholesome video. No over production nonsense. No ego. Just a down to earth "one on one lesson" feeling in this vid. Hearing the buzz of the amp relates to everyone lol. Miss this guy.
Fuck, he was the heaviest, bluesiest player ever lived!! Thank god we were blessed with Dimebag and he gave us the baddest fuckin riffs..RIP DIME....Loved his 'amp repair', just wrap the side of it, LOL
Dimebag probably did with the rest of us do ...when you live in a house with no ground electrical outlets.. and then you just break the ground off the plug so you can jam
Too much high gain pre amp noise bleeding though the speakers . And Nice to know that shit happens when playing , even to a amazing musician , RIP DIME
Grady wasn't there to flip his noise gate on and off, so he didn't use one...understandable because he was just riffing around and not recording or performing. Dime and Grady were a team.
I always say when you have nothing to plug into we appreciate whatever we can plug into either it be a shit first act 2 watt amp and a metal zone pedal or a all tube Marshall. Power up and let it ride brothas... cheers.
It gave me chills when Dime locked in with his brother on slow breakdown. Vinnie and Dime had perfect rhythm and when the two locked in it was amazing. I love when Dime would stand in front of Vinnie when This Love got to the slow breakdown. Vinnie and Dime are revolutionary. I was reading an interview from Drummer World where Vinnie talks about when Dime heard the tom groove to Primal Concrete Sledge. Dime's guitar was very much drum based. I miss their music bond. Dime and Vinnie had a spiritual bond that flowed into Pantera's music. I will always love to watch Pantera's concerts on RU-vid. R.I.P Dime.
I was never a huge Pantera fan but I respect Dimebag to the utmost. I honestly respect him even more now after watching this because it makes us realize that no matter how much of a guitar God any one can be, we are all still human. The guy playing on a fucked-up practice amp reminds me of myself LOL... watching him demonstrate his riffs and even make mistakes but just keeps going. His advice about taking a riff that sounds good and going with it honestly makes me feel better because I spend so much time thinking about music theory... there is so many times when I come up with something only to shoot it down because it doesn't fit within a certain "pattern" or key.... watching a video and getting a private lesson like this... it's probably the most Sage advice I have ever came across...
I can't remember what video it was but there was another band in a recording studio recording there album they met Dime in the hallway and told Dime sorry dude we stole some of your riffs. Dime said your not stealing your just borrowing. That's what made this man cool. Most guitarist would have sued.
That's really cool, I remember BB King saying if you like what somebody is doing "Borrow it" nothing wrong with that. Eventually you do your own thing, we all need inspiration. Peace and keep making music!!
This video makes me so fucking sad in many ways. I see a guitar god who wrote some of the best heavy riffs ever and was takin from us, ( this video is after they broke up ) then I see a man who misses his band. His girlfriend said the breakup w Phil was hard on him. R.I.P. Dime you'll always live on
God Dime how I miss you. Revolution was your name my friend. Wish you were around I so enjoyed watching this. Beer, guitar, amp breaking, chill and good times. Love ya man. RIP we remember you and love you buddy.
@kennethnick3213 a crazy "fan" killed him onstage in Ohio in 2004 while he was playing with his new band Damageplan...guy ran up onstage, held him from behind in shot him in the head...worst day ever!!! Some say because Pantera broke up...Police say he was delusional and blamed Pantera for stealing his lyrics. Now we are deprived of the beautiful soul known as Dime!!! You can find the videos on RU-vid of that fateful day.
I’m from Dallas and to have him and SRV buried in our backyard breaks my heart but also we’re honored they grew up here. RIP to both. Also his amp repair skills are incredible lol. What a treasure this man was
I grew up in Pantego. 817, baby! His house is a mile from where I grew up. I've partied at that house, and Vince's. We would see Dime at the Tom Thumb at Bowen Rd. and Park Row all the time. And I saw him a couple times at the 7-11 at 303 and Park Springs. He was always buying Coors Light lol.
I was just thinking about that. It's hard to watch the PANTERA home videos. It's sad seeing Dime goofing off but at the same time it's some of the funniest shit I've ever seen.
Yeah it does hurt man. He was so down to earth and normal. Just like a regular dude off the street. Didn’t let the fame go to his head. Remembered where he came from.
Dime was the very last person to ever deserve to go out the way he did. I'm only 16 years old but I've been listening to Dimes songs my whole life through my dad. I miss Dime like a best friend
2023 and I'm watching this video with a broken heart that I'll never be able to see my favorite guitarist again! Dime was a good person and is with our LORD GOD NOW!
got to see Pantera 13 times some of the best shows I ever seen.miss him so much.what a real dude he was.never had an attitude or bad thing to say about anything.R.I.P dime miss you brother
To this day Everytime I see him, even in videos I've seen thousands of times. . I can't help but feel some kinda way.... Blown away at the ease he plays with, saddened by the Loss and all the amazing riffs and solos were missing out on... Most of all it still didn't feel real.... Your loved and missed to this day and forever more DIMEBAG DARRELL!
Watching this is going to make me smile for the rest of the week. I honestly think that is one of the coolest guitars ever made. The southern cross is a beauty and a beast. RIP Dime! Getcha pull!!!
Its gonna be 11 years next month and i still cant believe he's gone. He seemed so much like a cool guy. Most down to earth et nicest guy in metal got shot on stage... What a fucking ironic piece of shit of a story.. sad sad sad
Miss you so much brother. Rest in peace forever Dime and Vinny. Pantera literally changed my life the first time I heard cemetery gates and I still do Pantera covers in my set with my band.
some good laughs in this, always nice to see a Dime vid i havent seen before. (answers phone) "and you couldnt get in could ya, ha ha" LOL,cheers to Dime!
Practicing some of his lead and it totally works. Learn a few signature styles and we make our own style as Dime no doubt did. I got most of my influence from Iommi and adding Dimes influence absolutely enhances it perfectly.
I did several times and he blew my mind every time. Drunk laughing doing a shot never missing a note or screwing up even improving something more amazing on the spot while screwing around
So many talented performers are no longer with us. A list that is impossible to type, without criminally forgetting some. Of them all....I miss this dude the most. Down to earth, approachable, human. Never acted better than anyone else...just did his thing and enjoyed life. Wherever he went when he left this world, is where I wanna go.
Dime and viny are hero’s to music . I’m happy there are videos like this to help me learn and feel closer to one of nicest shred heads in music history.
Dime is and always will be my favorite guitarist of all time!! Pantera my favorite band, since the 4th grade when I heard vulgar display, in 1994. I jam em everyday!! R.I.P. St. Dime! Legends never die!!
Thank you dime for all kickass riffs and music, you were one of a kind and will never be forgotten, i miss you damnit! When i first heard pantera i know it was someting special, i listened to pantera albums every day!
Life changing, never seen this before. Best video I have watched in Decades!!! Every single word that came out I actually loved more than the lesson. I literally felt like I was hanging out in his house with him. Thank you for posting !!
I have goosebumps from the harmonics and bends that he does... He makes it look so easy... the amp cant keep up with his greatness!! Haha just another day that the office for him. Truly the best guitar player I was fortunate enough to see in concert!
Love this video, so candid. I miss Dime so much, i look for videos of him and this one is really cool. When he burped when explaining a riff I laughed my ass off. That's him I never met him, but I felt like i did because of his music. Dime Forever!! He is my inspiration on life and music!!
Can totally hear Eddie Van Halens influence. Awesome. Dime has to be One of the best players in the world . Such a loss. Especially how humble he was and all around a nice guy.
i wish i got to meet dime hes my biggest inspiration for guitar. i was only 2 years old when he had to leave us, i hope hes still playing guitar or at the very least being creative in whatever awaits us at the end. rest in peace dimebag, beautiful soul
It's crazy to watch all these videos of him shredding and to think of how awsom he was but then to think on how he got taken away from us way to soon it a travesty in it's self R.I.P DIME/GUITAR GOD
