I review the all new Dimitrij Ovtcharov Innerforce ALC blade along with his choice of rubber; Dignics 09C (2.1) Black on the forehand and Dignics 05 (2.1) Red on the backhand. I also show some hitting with the one and only Adam Bobrow.
two questions. (1) what is the knife you use to cut the rubber? yours looks extra sharp! (2) if i set this up like this, but wanted to go for more control & spin w/ the rubber (vs speed), what do you recommend? i'm a intermediate player, and i know from experience that i cant go too fast, as i struggle with keeping the ball on the table. but i love aggressive offense and looping. e.g., a slightly lighter overall setup is good for me to get more head speed when looping (so a thinner, lighter sponge might be a good idea).
Hi there, I use an exacto knife (yes, very sharp and precise). As far as rubber, I think you have the right idea. Check out this video, and the channels creator will personally give you advice on a good rubber for you based of your play style and level (just leave a comment): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_UnyHoKP1F4.html
Hey there. Hard to say, all depends on your style, level and what rubbers you pair it with. The Zhang Jike Alc will be a bit faster w/ less control (but a great blade). I think the DO ALC offers better touch and power when you need hence the “innerforce” (carbon underneath 2 layers of wood rather than one).
I have been playing with the dignics series for a little over a year now and it is quite durable, last a bit longer than tenergy. Although newer dignics 09c, durable but the tackiness? Not sure it last as long as the rubber itself yet.. will update in a few months
@@danielusuga914 It holds up great playing 3-4 times a week for about 6-8 months depending on playing style. I’d say you can even go a year, although psychologically I like to change every 6 months :)
@@dfy Great, thank you for answering. Another question. Do you still keep ovchavarov blade?. If yes. What can you tell about the blade now. I am thinking of buying the ovchavarov blade this week.
@@danielusuga914 I am switching away from it. It is a really good blade, although requires proper technique and skill to unlock all of its qualities. Too good for me right now lol 😂
This blade is an innerforce blade, meaning the carbon layers are underneath two plies of wood. Although, the Timo Boll blade has the carbon layers underneath the first ply of wood.
I don’t think the sweet spot is any better than the boll alc, the same at best. Can’t go wrong with the boll alc, although the DO innerforce offers slightly better touch/ feel and maybe control in my opinion. The DO innerforce is slightly slower than the Boll alc as well.
That is hard to say.. I think this blade was built for the modern game, has so many gears. Although the Viscaria came out so long ago, before the new ball I believe. But cannot say it’s better for a few reasons; 1) Viscaria is the #1 selling blade/ played by professionals 2) I have never played the Viscaria, and even if I have that is subjective 3) The Dima Innerforce ALC is so new! We don’t know it’s future popularity yet.. I honestly can’t answer that question. Although I believe the blade is definitely worth trying. It may be the best blade for you, who knows!
Hi, Alfred how are you? A big greeting from Colombia. I'm Fredy and I see your program on you tube. It's great and I learned a lot. Thank you. I see that you have a lot of rackets. I had a gergely with dignics and they stole it from me. Would you give me one no matter if it is second rate I would love to have another professional racket and be able to play this beautiful game if you want I will send you my zip code and my address I would appreciate a lot I lost my job because of the pandemic and I would like to take up this beautiful one again sport God bless you bro
The Dimitrij Ovtcharov Innerforce ALC is a bit thicker, slightly faster and has a little more feeling than the Harimoto Innerforce ALC due to the composition of the blade. Dimitrij Ovtcharov Innerforce ALC: Blade thickness: 6.2mm Reaction: 117 / 11.7 Vibration: 105 / 10.5 Harimoto Innerforce ALC: Blade thickness: 6.0mm Reaction: 107 / 10.7 Vibration: 92 / 9.2
@@deep7496 Good question, idk. I’m hoping limba is a part of the blades composition at the very least. I bought this blade in person at the US National Championships Butterfly kiosk in Vegas just over a week ago and asked the same exact question. The butterfly reps did not know! They all responded with the same answer, “Butterfly won’t tell us the blades composition, let alone what type of wood and in which order”. The butterfly reps also mentioned that “Butterfly is keeping the blades makeup confidential 🤫 due to competitors in the market”. - Personally this is a plus in my opinion and makes me think the blade is very well put together and thought out.
@@dfy cheers buddy. Yes butterfly don’t give out composition details, I did try to find out in the past and they don’t give anything away. I have both HM ALC and Apolonia ZLC and tbh I prefer Apolonia. I have used Apolonia for 2 years and during lockdown with no competitions I thought why not test a different blade so I bought a HM ALC. I have D09C on fh and D80 on Bh on both blades. Difference after testing both side by side, HM has higher throw, more control, slower, dull feeling. Apolonia has lower throw which I like on my Bh, great feeling. Control on HM is great but just lacked the zip on Bh I was getting from Apolonia. I think if I hadn’t had the Apolonia I would have loved the HM more.
May I know the feedback of using harimoto alc since im considering to buy one. Im an amateur player who's still learning tactics in tt. I think of using rozena on both sides since im an intermediate player. Thank you:)
Really? Never thought about that. I’ll have to look into this. Maybe the dignics 09c because it’s so tacky/ sticky and the cleaner can comprise that? Idk..
Shure, it is better then let your sweat on the rubber... A little bit of cleaner(water isn't greate to get of oily sweat) , a little wipe so there is still some humidity on the Blade and then let it dry... Just don't wipe it until it's completly dry(so friction isn't that high)
@@onkelphil7419 cleaner is not meant to clean your sweat of its ment to bring the rubber back alive or to clean of the dust but sweat can be wiped of with a towel
@@krovken it is because these cleaners u mentioned are illegal since tuning is forbidden ... The new cleaners just are cleaner... If u only use a towel u might get it dry but there are also fat and salt in your sweat, what is not so easy to clean without tenside.. I used dignics 09c since Last year and I used cleaner after every Training... And those cleaner I use are only for cleaning only 5% tensides ("soap Like") ... But yes there are cleaners with solvents which harms rubbers like 09c!
@@dfy 7:57 You're holding the racket with the black side on the backhand(bh) side. the 09c is the black, and you're using it on the bh side. Ovtcharov uses 09c (black) on his fh. not bh.
@@dhrlfska90 Ahh, I just looked at Dima’s glueing video and you’re right. I asked the butterfly rep at the US Nationals what side is the forehand side and he said the side with the Dima logo. Not sure now. Does it matter?
So, I would say the Xiom Hal is faster and better for flat hitting/ smashes unless you can handle heavy tops drive (FH/BH) with good form. I find I get more balls on the table the Dima’s ALC because there is more of a control aspect/ forgiving. Dima’s blade has amazing short game and touch/ feel and a powerful shot only when needed (Innerforce - when the carbon activates). I guess it all depends on your level and playing style which blade would suits players best in general..
@@lifeoverdrive No, haven’t tried that one! Being an equipment junkie is dangerous lol, both to your game and pocket; I’m guilty of this, but don’t think I will be trying out that blade
That makes sense! I just quoted what butterfly described the colors to represent - “The initial D and O marks show endless possibilities, and the black-based grip, which combines blue for ALC and gold for victory, embodies elegance and strength”.

True, it also goes without being said that even Ma Long’s blade won’t make anyone play any better. Those few rallies with Adam were just some fun unorthodox points 😉.
Maybe you should take more time practicing your technique instead of equipment. I see that you don’t really focus on the racket angle and where you want the ball to land.
8:19 the way you received that serve from adam it doesn't matter whether you had ovtcharov blade with dignics or not 10 year old chinese kid with 5$ bat can probably beat you
@@dfy I think he means you can only properly review a rubber if you need to have a higher level of technique and feeling (especially because some people finding your channel are state-level or semi-pros and come across a lot of table tennis videos on youtube), but it's still a nice showcase of a cool set up :D
@@dfy But you need a well trained and consistent forehand loop to tell someone how well a rubber performs on the forehand or how much topspin and speed it produces at the top end power stroke and how much it produces with less effort. You need a good feeling to tell what technical adjustments need to be made and the dwell time, throw angle, how it performs from far from the table, how it performs in the short game and so on. Same with every other shot. If someone said rubber was very bad at backhand flick and the arc is too low or whatever but they aren't properly trained, people would not believe him, because it was probably just his problem and not the equipment. That's why people will say you are not good or trained enough to review equipment, even though this doesn't really count as a review as you chose not to give your own insights or feelings. Again it's a good showcase and there's really no point bashing on hobby players
@@dfy But putting that aside, I don't see why this guy has to say "I was faked" as it's not like you do reviews like TTD dan or something. As far as I'm concerned you showcase a blade and give us some specs/ stats and it's honestly fun to see. Heck even if you did put in your own insights and opinions in it would still be fine, even if a say a world-class player did a review, everyone plays differently, what one person will say doesn't apply to everyone even if the viewer and the youtube are both high-level players I think people are supposed to take reviews with a grain of salt and hopefully get the chance to try equipment themselves
