This recipe is so cheap and easy to make a 5 year old can do it. They taste great, are a fun easy project and are perfect for afternoon tea with jam, morning tea with Vegemite or lunch with soup. You are gonna need a bigger batch.
We do hope you give it a try.
INGREDIENTS:
150g self raising flour
125g milk
60g mayonnaise.
I know what you're thinking this can't work......YES IT CAN.

Food is fun, we hope you enjoy our journey.
Special Thanks to 5 year old 'Little Mouse' for her wonderful help.
Cooking with kids is fun and teaches them life skills, it creates wonderful memories. You should try it. There may be a little mess and there may be the odd fail but the advantages of time spent sharing and teaching kids something new are worth their weight in gold.
Special Thanks =to Kevin Macleod from incompetency for the music for this upload. The Life of Riley.

Yum looks very like damper! Thanks for another quick and easy recipe.

Thank you Wendy it is actually a lot lighter than damper and really soft and fluffy in the, it lacks the ‘chewy’ structure of bread but it is a really suitable substitute. Glad you like it and thank you for watching.;-))

who would have thought these few simple ingredients would make something so nice... I only have the big pie maker but I am going to try this anyway...thanks!

Thank you Helen , you could make one big one or place a few ‘blobs’ around the pie maker and let them join together as they cook like a tear apart I find they do benefit from being turned over for the last couple of minutes of cooking, not at the halfway point as they are a bit too soft to manage them. Hope that helps and thank you for watching.;-))

Hi.. I ran out of bread today so I made your buns. I doubled the batch and added some shredded Old Cheddar cheese to half.. They were great. I toasted some of the cheese buns later for lunch with ham.. They were delicious.. Thanks for the recipe.

That is wonderful feedback, I’m sure our viewers will find it very useful as well. These times are calling for unusual measures and we hoped this recipe would help tide people over until more supplies were available. We will be making bread as well, it is a lot more time consuming and labour intensive than this quick little recipe. Stay safe and well and we will try and bring you some more pantry staple ideas for your kitchen. Thank you for watching.;-))

Thank you very much Lucy, yes it is an incredibly easy recipe and perfect for my little apprentice, 10 minutes is a long time for a 5 year old to wait to see the results. 40 minutes is almost a lifetime for a normal cake to bake lol. I have a chocolate cake recipe using mayonnaise as well I must dig that out, i have another one made with mashed potato too lol. I like to share interesting and unusual recipes as well as the regular more traditional ones . I hope you get a chance to make this one, it is surprisingly very light and tender with a nice crumb. Thanks for watching. The ‘little hands’ said to say Hi and thank you too.;-))

Isn’t it delightful cooking with children, I’m sure your grand niece had a wonderful time cooking with you. If you are comfortable telling me her Christian name, my Little Mouse will say Hello to her from Australia. Her Mummy and I have been to Reno. We stayed in a hotel there that was very Irish, shamrocks and leprechauns everywhere. We got lots of cute little green souvenirs given to us. We drove across Death Valley and went up to Lake Tahoe and went on a boat ride there. I seem to remember it was a paddle steamer. It was more than 25 years ago. It was the first time I had seen really tall guide posts on the side of the road, I found out they were to show the depth of the snow. I remember it was a very steep and winding road and being thankful there was no snow in the road at the time, however, the snow was in top of the mountains and the scenery was stunning. We saw so many varied landscapes, drove through the redwood, picked blackberries on the side of the road and discovered Dr Pepper and salt water taffy, it isn’t available here unless you visit the international food aisle in some larger supermarkets.

@@CheekysKitchen So nice to hear about your trip and that you had a wonderful time . It is a beautiful area . Thanksgiving they could not visit because of all the snow , the road was closed . I spent 2 weeks with them at Christmas . Two of my favorite treats , Dr . Pepper soda and the candy . My grand niece her name is Ryan . I am doing well in these trying times and staying strong . All the best to you , be safe and well . Best wishes always ,my dear , you friend from San Jose .

We are home schooling at the moment and it is an online process affiliated with the school. We will take a break and make a video recipe and dedicate it to Ryan, it will be something simple and tasty. I hope she enjoys it. I can’t get to my editing until after bedtime and to honest by then I’m pretty tired then too. It’s been a long time since I’ve had to care for young children, full time. Stay safe and well and I hope you can get your laundry soap and fresh supplies soon. I have spoiled myself and ordered a Vitamix, it’s on its way and I’m a bit more excited than I care to admit lol. My Little Mouse loves smoothies so we will be giving it a work out.;-))

We had a wonderful day thank you for asking. It has been hard for her to adjust to homesickness and missing her little friends, especially not knowing how long we must isolate. The’Virus’ is getting blamed for lots of things at the moment . We are keeping busy and are a real chatterbox, some of the random topics we are discussing are quite amusing, her mind is running at a million miles an hour. I hope you are able to enjoy spending time with your little people soon too. I now know what a rutabaga is, we call them Swedes or a type of turnip and they are out of season at the moment. Stay safe and well and thank you for sharing your lovely feedback and for watching.;-))

Catherine, we are doing our school work online. Just one child in kindergarten and I am all at sea with the programs and class interaction. The lessons info had to be posted to us so we have 58 lessons to catch up on. I know it is her school work and not mine but I have to keep reminding myself not to correct mistakes. She is using my iPad Pro and far more interested in the colours and fonts of the answers than the actual answers.lol, you have my deep admiration tackling this situation with. 3 children. I have my hands well and truly full at the moment. Loving it but sheesh, I’m doing lots more walking around the house attending to more things than I have done in years. If I could be bothered wearing my fitness tracking thing I think even it would get a shock lol. Stay safe and well my little family friends and hopefully we will all come out the other side of this problem wiser, more compassionate and stronger than before it.;-))

Yes I know, on the way here (couple of hours drive) Nanny can we go to a cafe? Was met with “No Darling they are all closed.” The knowing replying was “oh that got the virus!” Today we collected a parcel from the letter box Richo put latex gloves on her and she collect the parcel, holding it off her body, disposed of the gloves and Richo Glen 20’d the parcels so well the ink ran on the address. I think the procedure brought home the gravity of the situation. We take the dogs for a walk in a sugar cane paddock where no other people have been and we have been lucky enough to swim everyday. No parks or playgrounds either and I saw the metal tables and chairs on the roadside stop , as we drove past, have been taped up with hazard barriers. It’s quite eerie. My elderly neighbours aren’t even feeding themselves properly and never even go out into their gardens, I just couldn’t have imagined this ever happening, so I have no doubt the little ones are having trouble accepting or understanding the situation. I’m a real homebody and my RU-vid channels keep me incredibly busy so the social isolation isn’t really affecting me as much as most people but I feel for the people that are in small or heavily populated areas where they are confined to compact spaces. It must be dreadful.
