Thank you very much Wendy, this is the easiest recipe I know of to make this tasty treat. The traditional way does take a lot more time, more ingredients, and more equipment. We try to simplify our recipes to inspire more people to cook. Once confidence is gained we have lots more intricate and more traditionally prepared meals. Something for everyone and every level of skill. Hope your family enjoys this Vanilla Slice a recipe as much as ours did. Thank you for your lovely comment and for watching.;-))

Friday day is ‘Hippy’ day Lorraine, thank you for your well wishes. I’m sure everything will go great. I have the ultimate faith in my surgeon and if it improves my quality of life and helps my mobility then I’ll be even happier. I followed my family around in the car for Halloween, I was dressed as a cat, got lots of smiles and waves from the kids in the neighbourhood. My Grandy was a Disney character, my daughter a pirate and my son in law the grim reaper, even the dog was in costume. I couldn’t have walked out of sight on a dark night but I was able to drive the family from their suburb to the adjoining one to check out the decorations and costumes and get even more candy snd treats. It was lovely to see all the families out and about, enjoying the weather and the fun on offer. Lots of grandparents and Mums and dads all done up in costume and tiny kids in prams done up too. It’s a pretty small place and there more than 200 kids out and about enjoying their freedom and being respectful, social distancing, polite and sharing. Fingers crossed I can walk with them next year👍🤞🏻

Mmm. I'm not overly fond of icing. I'd prefer a pineapple syrup glaze like that on pineapple donuts made by Betterbake. Thanks for the tutorial. Another world wonder made in a pie maker.
@CheekysKitchen
@CheekysKitchen 4 года назад
Thank you for your comment John, Richo isn’t big on icing either. I’ve never tried a pineapple glaze or heard of Betterbake. We have Donut King here in Australia and they do a pineapple donut but it just tastes like sugar and the Donuts are very stodgy. Yes the Pie maker is lots of fun to use and I can see it being a handy thing to take to a dormitory or hotel room where you don’t have access to an oven. Cheap snacks, beats trying to cook eggs in a coffee maker lol. Thanks for watching.;-)

Do you think we can make this in the sausage roll maker ? Same ingredients but different shape ....I dont have the pie maker ...YET lol
@CheekysKitchen
@CheekysKitchen 3 года назад
I do indeed, apart from shape both appliances are interchangeable with recipes. Personally I think the sausage roll maker is easier to use. Less cutting, waste snd no re rolling. Easier to eat too, the roll shape is easy to eat without a plate, less mess and makes a great grab n go snack. Hope that helps snd thanks for watching.;-))

Hi, I’ve just subscribed to your channel, I just would like to know why do you blind bake the Bottom part of your pie? I would like to try them they look really good 😊
@CheekysKitchen
@CheekysKitchen 4 года назад
Hey Beth, welcome aboard, we hope you enjoy our food journey. Good question, I believe it makes for a crisper bottom and well cooked through, easier to eat without you poking your fingers through it. Just my opinion but after decades of pie making this has been a good trick. I do it with meat pies too. I like a nice golden crust on pies. You may find that you don’t need to or want to do it but you don’t need to cook the filling and if it does get too hot they sometime bubble out a bit. Doesn’t after the flavour at all just doesn’t look as pretty. Hope that helps, if you don’t make any other of my 60+ pie recipes, at least make this one, it’s a duet breaker for sure lol. Thanks for watching and joining a merry band of friendly foodies.we hope to keep you entertained and inspired for many more recipes to come.;-))

Thank you for the video. I had a question. What are the sizes (in inches across) of the top and bottoms crusts? Thank you very kindly.
@CheekysKitchen
@CheekysKitchen 2 года назад
Gee that’s a toughy Dan, you see I have 3 pie makers and recently lost my sunbeam pie magic four in two recent record pressing floods,,where my house which is built higher than the one in one hundred year flood record level sustained significant damage when 3 metres of water raged through it destroying everything in its path, I lost appliances, hundreds of treasures cook books, entire furniture and tv/ sound equipment from my lounge room, a slate pool table, full sized air hockey table and enough tools to Make Bunnings envious. Hence my lateness in reply., that and an unexpected home delivered dose of Covid that happened the day we were evacuated the second time in 4 weeks after enjoying a wonderful riverside lifestyle for more than 20 years. Mother Nature delivered the most soul destroying devastation she could muster. The house is full of dangerous mould, stinking mud and terrifying memories and nothing else we lost the lot and now have to rebuild without flood insurance. Whilst I have felt terribly guilty about being unable to return to my RU-vid Channel, sickness and sadness along with back breaking work has prevented my timely return. I hope you bear with me as we try to overcome this natural disaster and attempt to return the house to a safe, livable environment. As they don’t manufacture this model anymore google may provide a more accurate size and capacity. I would not be able to hazard a guess nor would I even try to estimate the dimensions you are seeking. I have a policy, .”if I don’t know I don’t say.” Hopefully one of my viewers may be able to assist you with your question. They are a very friendly and helpful bunch that are always ready to assist. Sorry I couldn’t be much more help but thank you for your question and for watching.;/))

@CheekysKitchen

Chef Dan, you are very kind, I feel I have failed my viewers these last few months, I take my little RU-vid hobby quite seriously and my cooking of late has been basic or non existent. I miss my kitchen, the interaction with my RU-vid’family’ and the joy of inventing, testing and trying new recipes and appliance reviews etc. I will get back to it, it will signal the return of a sense of normalcy and security, that has been lacking lately. Listening to music, watching a movie on TV , trawling though my cook books for ideas are all a sense of joy to me. I’ve been unable to focus, concentrate or keep my mind off the past few months devastating events. Each time I start to think of something happy it inevitably returns to something I have lost that I can no longer use or enjoy and the overwhelming feeling of loss returns to drown my enthusiasm. Resilience and happiness will return as our gardens recover and the unhealthy stench of mud and decaying vegetation dissipates. Fish are returning to the river, belongings that have washed away are slowly being found and recovered. Farmers are fixing fences, councils are repairing bridges and roads, life is slowly returning to its pre flood state with a renewed sense of community, support and willingness to help each other that has been nurtured and enforced by our need to look out for each other and band together. Time heals all and we are safe, our pets survived and that’s all that really matters. Stay safe and thank you for caring.;-))🥰🙏🏻

I can understand not being as enthusiastic about some things but failing your readers, I disagree. You're quite detailed and if they miss the detail in what you were telling them is because they wanted to. Everyone has a time in their life where they're just not into it, or life takes over and something happens and you just have to deal with it because that's the hand you're dealt. But I'm also dead serious about helping you out if you need new little equipment pieces or cookers or something and I can help, litterally - just tell me. It won't matter where you live in the world, shipping services exist for a reason.

Thank you so much Chef Dan, I live in Australia on the flood ravaged east coast. Complete strangers have been so kind and supportive. Your generous offer is very much appreciated. I had quite a few gadgetry things I was going to do a review on and the river took them, must’ve needed it more than me 🥺. I’ll get back into it, it’s actually good therapy, for me I think. I’m actually not good at asking for help but if you can just hang in there until I’m back on track, it would mean the world to me. Hope you had a great weekend. Your advice is sound, thoughtful and appreciated more than you could know. 🙏🏻🇦🇺Thank You
