“The world” doesn’t have the same impact as “ZA WARDO”

The silent time stops where Dio just teleports is probably one of the best things from this OVA

The OVA is great, but I really can't picture Dio with any voice other than Takehito Koyasu's

This ova has one major improvement: that even if Jotaro didn't know he can move in stopped time, Star Platinum does know it and is protecting him.

I love the fact that star platinum in the ova has some kind of "conscience' and protected jotaro without him even knowing.

To be fair...this is actually brilliant. Like you are seeing exactly what kakyoin and joseph have been through which is, not knowing what DIO is doing in frozen time.

The beginning where everything around them was being destroyed and Jotaro getting random cuts will probably be the closest we get to what it’s like for people without Stands.

I can’t handle DIO’s voice. He sounds like a teen who is struggling through puberty.

Even if it's not true to the manga, I love DIO toying with Jotaro and being able to see what The World looks like outside the frozen time.

How do you have such glorious animation but sound effects and voice actors that could be from hentai?

The OVA animation is extremely well done it's ridiculous.

Imagine watching 2 yolked men bleeding from nothing and randomly getting knifes thrown at them.

Had I not been told about DIO’s time stop ability when I saw this video for the first time, I would have been scared shitless and assumed DIO had strong psychic abilities and teleportation - because this video really does portray the illusion of such a possibility very well, and how it would seem like such to those who cannot move in TS.

What an awesome OVA. It has that dark edge that part 3 really benefits from. I know its common in japan to make things a bit more lighthearted but i really enjoy edgy jojo

dio sounds like he is actually 100+ years old in this version. Old men are creepy, but not omnious or intimidating, the way i picture Dio just doesn't fit.

I don't know how we all came across this, but this is the definition of good editing. The decreased monologue makes a lot more sense; I enjoyed the OVA and anime, but this brings me a new perspective. Wow.

People who say the anime's fight scene is better than the OVA speaks only of the dialogue and voice acting, animation and pacing wise the OVA is so much more excited

I really like the lack of effects when DIO stops stime. No flash of light, not smoke, no distortion, no color changes, no sound effect. The way DIO just pops out of existence makes The World's time stop so much more menacing

Love that you dragged this out, a lot of people think the anime/manga is a newish series but I knew it wasn't. One main reason is because it is styled similar to the Fist of the north star. A series which in itself came during a era of over the top macho looking men that were fighters/warriors. Even Beserk shared the similarity. The 1970s-90s Era of anime were a Era of the brawlers,fighters, male & female macho. A great era if you want to skim for old low fan service anime/manga.

The beginning has to be the best thing I’ve seen in a long while.

While the voice acting and sound effects are dated, and the character designs seem a bit off to me, this is really well done. The animation itself still holds up, but honestly the angles and cinematography is shockingly well done. The bit where Dio just blinks in and out is honestly a lot more intimidating than how we always saw what he was doing in the anime. I still prefer the anime but the OVA definitely wins my respect easily.

there is deffinetly part of this older animation that i like way more than the newer ones, it has its moments.

I love how he just blips from one spot to another, but the way things spontaneously crumple and get crushed at the start is _so meanacing_ The OVA has so many cool touches

Man i watched these 90's ova's about 10 years ago while I was in highschool. And even now that there are new adaptations, I still prefer this by a long shot. The old school 90's animation is so much more serious and dramatic. It's timeless. If you like Jojo, you also should watch YuYu Hakusho.

I personally think Jotaro's VA (who voices later Arlong in One Piece) did quite a decent work here, except for the ORAs. I'm too used to the anime ORAORA

This is still the only JoJo anime/ova/show I've seen. I did play the Dreamcast Game, and this was when it was all fresh in the 90's

They were fighting at Light speed in the manga.

The animation is incredible, and the relative absence of music lends a sense of eeriness to the scenes that serves the story well. The voice acting is … not good, but serviceable. Takehito Koyasu from the anime brings a level of flamboyance to Dio that clashes with the OVA’s tone and ambience.

The silent popping in and out of existence is honestly very scary.

Without this OVA, we might not have the anime series for 2012.
