I hate the using the same for multiple fragrances. It made the Dior house very confusing when I ot into frag community & so I just avoided the whole line
I like the openings of all of them, and they could be considered "bright" beasts for the first few minutes, but the opening fades too quickly into soapy, mild or shower gel scents. Haven't tried Balade. Thanks for the video, Sebastian!
Sauvage Review! 😎 My favorite is Eau Sauvage Cologne, 2015 release by Francois Demachy. It doesn't get the love or hype of the others, but it's my favorite designer citrus right now.
I love the Eau Savage line, but not a fan of Sauvage. I’ve never thought that it was very savage or wild, but more on the fun and could be refined side.
Amazing video with clear honest opinion like always. Eau Sauvage parfum 2012 is my favorite and I stock on 2 *100ml bottles. The 2017 also is nice I use it as a signature scent.
The original sauvage was a great great perfume it had civet in it that made it animalic so it definitely was wild i use to find it intoxicating my dad had it and i use to spray it when going to school till a girl that i liked told me i smell like her grandfather i stopped wearing it to school after that but i would spray it on my pillow before going to bed. The new formulation is an extremely weak version of the original anyway this perfume made me love animalic perfumes like korous by ysl for those of you who dont know animalic the closest thing i can compare it with is if you lived on a cow farm grass fed cows their feces have a sweet smell to it thats the animalic scent in perfumes kind of like ouddy smelling
Great video Sir! I wish they would quit reformulating some of these masterpieces...kills me! Currently I have a bottle of the Eau pre code that I put up. Just got another 2012 parfum and another 2017. Current Eau release is still intoxicating...better have a decant with ya! Love them all! Your review is spot on! Thank you so much! Greg B.
Sebastian you miss on video, christian dior eau sauvage cologne, it is as bad ? what you thinking about it? It is better than Homme Cologne or Guerlain Ideal Cologne ?
Dior Sauvage is a classic... outside of Creed Aventus, I have gotten the most compliments from this... whats funny is that my daughter says "smells like you"... lol hopefully thats a good thing...
I personally can't stand Sauvage EDT or EDP. It's just really loud and guys have a tendency to overspray it. I once got in a car with a guy wearing it (EDT) and it was so strong it made me lightheaded. It doesn't smell refined or classy to me. But hey, it's a best-selling fragrance, there must be a reason.
I think the name is not about the scent but the behavior that this scent can drive into the person smelling it. It’s like call of the wild As sauvage line of perfumes tend to drive the girls crazy towards wearers in a nauty attraction, the name suites I believe
Can someone help me? I'm supposed to get eau sauvage as a present for my grandfather but I have no idea what type to get. All I know is he likes the splash and not the spray bottle. Is this the after shave or just the toilette in a specific bottle variant? And if both is one in particular better than the other? Kind regards
What’s your opinion about this leather one? Eau Savage Fraicheur Cuir? I know it’s discontinued for a few years. Never had a chance to smell it. 2012 version is the best one imo.
2012 eau sauvage Parfum is my favourite but haven't tried the ballad sauvage. I don't think any of them are savage or "sauvage". They are that in name only. If they renamed leather oud or oud ispahan , then maybe Dior would be sauvage but other than that they aren't at all. Still really nice scents though 👌
I love the original & classic Eau sauvage & specially now because it’s so hot & humid in Houston . I must revisit & sample balade again since first impression from the line didn’t do much for me . Great review habibi !
Thanks so much for posting about something that's been bothering me for quite some time. I miss the original Eau Sauvage so much that, when I'm in the mood for it, I tend to reach for Eau du Rochas PH. It's not a ES clone but, it does satisfy my craving better than the present day ES. The tendency of perfumers to reformulate popular fragrances is so aggravating! It feels dishonest and lazy, like a bait-and-switch. I'm ranting, and I apologise for that. It used to be easy to find scents saturated with masculine DNA but now, it takes a lot of work to find them. I guess I'm just an analog guy living in a digital world
Dear Sebastian! From personal experience I can tell you that chicks love Sauvage Very Cool Spray. That's one product missing from your discussion. A lot of frag heads completely ignored that one and in my humble experience it is no slouch. Love your work. Keep it up!
I'm wearing Dune today. It makes me want to pick up Balade Savauge, in the future. For those looking for Dune, fragrancenet.com still has some bottles (as of 12-8-20)
Eau Sauvage def isn't savage smelling. It's the opposite. It smells like a kind, refined gentleman. There is something warm and almost hypnotic about it. A masterpiece.
I agree with Sauvage EdT being “savage” due to it’s abrasiveness. Sauvage EdP still has that quality but smoothed out a bit which makes it less savage and therefore more wearable. Eau Sauvage Parfum, well it’s not “savage” but if it means “wild water” then I can see that. The elemi makes it quite tropical almost. I think the elemi is sourced from The Philippines or somewhere close to there, and that makes me think of tropical rainforests, so it does fit the bill of being quite wild.
It's videos like THIS that have me clicking you first on my home screen, almost every time. Eaux? Yep. Sauvage? Not so much (it's very telling that my spellcheck keeps changing Sauvage to SAUSAGE!). The Eau Sauvage flankers Extreme Cuir and Parfum) are much more wild savage and raw. smell swell & be well, JR xox PS like 350 🙌
I personally like the smell of sauvage I love the bergamont and everything about it but more importantly all the women I come in contact I go to the gym and in the mall they just give me the freaking looks like they want to really get to know me if they don't compliment me verbally they compliment me with their eyes haha I think Dior hit a grand slam moneymaker with this one
@@ThePerfumeGuy To me it's a super fresh and high quality citrus scent, too bad the performance is just sad, even worse than by kilian's lemon in zest, I used about 15ml in just a week......
Why are the lesser known Chanel and Dior fragrances (like Balade Sauvage) in generic looking bottles with labels that appear to be right off a laser printer? Do you get them as decants or is that the way they're sold, possibly decanted into the bottle in a Chanel boutique from a much larger jug? I can't see them being sold with those labels in a dept. store for fear of counterfeits. I really enjoy Sauvage edt, if just for the performance. I haven't worn the edp enough to comment yet. I keep reading that Eau Sauvage in its current formulation just isn't nearly as good as the original and possibly the pre-2015 version.
Shave- a-thon The simplicity in the bottles is due to the fragrance belonging in the Maison Christian Dior collection of fragrances. I think Chanel has their own Les Exclusifs line of fragrances which also follows the same concept of bottle design, but yeah, they are sold in these bottles in the stores.
Shave- a-thon I mean it could be an easy task, but then again, I feel like counterfeiters have made more complex bottles before, so it all depends on how much counterfeiters want to invest their time and effort into it. I, personally, love the quality of the Dior bottles. The glass on the bottle has some weight to it, the cap being magnetic, but the bottle being simplistic, with the white sticker, just adds a certain elegance to it. As if, a prototype just came from a fragrance lab or something, and I am about to test out a special fragrance. Funnily enough, I find the normal designer perfume bottles to be quite boring, with a few exceptions.
@@ThePerfumeGuy I going to EU early June for 2 weeks, and will get a bottle if the rumors are truth. Sure Dune was never been such a big hit , but so was my beloved Antidote Victor&Rolf . Prices went bananas after the first time it was discontinued. Prices on Ebay were ~ $220-$250 . No way
The only thing wild is how many times you say "sauvage" in this video 😟🤣🤣 I love 2012 eau sauvage parfum the myrrh is amazing in that scent but 🤔 would I call it "sauvage" mehh no not really its just eau beautiful 👌🤷♂️
