I remember when I first saw this when I was like 15 years old and it scared me so bad. Now I revisit this song/ video on a yearly basis at 30 years old just to feel nostalgic and happy again lmfao
I'm honestly so surprised as to how long this has stayed up on RU-vid. Surprised that it is also on the official Dir En Grey channel. I hope it keeps staying up forever
I was obsessed with this song and music video as a little kid in middle school 😂 now I'm watching it again years later, still obsessed, but realizing what a creepy child I must have been
As I pause this video over and over I realize there's shots of an eclipsing moon that only lasts for a millisecond, I love hidden symbols in music so much
i've been listening to Dir en grey for years. Kinda forgot Obscure was a thing. Came back to this MV after I saw Munro's cover. Sometimes I forget how weird this band is. They're still favorite band of all time. They've changed so much since then (just look at their latest single "The World of Mercy"!) Much love to this band. If you're new to this band, just know that they are WAY more than Obscure. The Dir en grey community can't recommend enough songs that represent this band, because every single album is different, and they've been going on for 20+ years now. There really isn't one song that defines Dir en grey. Every new album and single just surprises us fans what they are capable of. They are progressive/experimental, and you'll soon find that out if you decide to get into them. But if you like/don't like Obscure, or like/dislike any song of theirs, just give this band a chance and try another song from another album. Don't want people to think that they're just Obscure and they don't try listening to their other songs. Dir en grey truly is an amazing band.
Not as cute as you thinking you're incredibly clever for bringing this uninspired bs comment to this amazing band's video. You must feel so fucking proud of yourself, huh tryhard?
I love this song, so good, i just wish there was a version of the video where it was just the recordings of the members playing, because seeing their heads almost hit the floor while playing the main heavy AF riff is so badass
Same. Back then, since online translators weren't a thing, we HAD to learn the language to understand our favorite artists! I speak fluent Japanese now just because I loved Dir En Grey, Lead, miyavi and Koda Kumi as a kid (and still love them).
Вот уже 13 лет периодически пересматриваю этот шедевр, ностальгия из детства, помню как смотрели данный клип всей семьей, особенно бабушке очень нравилось🤩
I've read the lyrics and i still dont get it, but of all the countries im polish so not only im not a native japanese speaker, im not a native english speaker xD i know im 4 years late but could you please explain that video to me? Becasue damn i like it as it is, but it would be nice to actually "get it" lol
I was once asked if there was a song that sounded like my depression, and I showed this clip. And I was surprised at how accurate it turned out to be. At that moment, for the first time, I felt that I was not alone in my perception of the world, and this thought made me feel a little better. Now depression is far behind me, but I still feel an inner connection with music of Dir En Grey, it helps me survive existential loneliness in difficult moments.
I love this absolute classic! A J-Metal classic that my cousin showed me around 2009-2011 & thus *Dir En Grey* was my 1st Fandom of Japanese Nationality!(I had known *Shonen Jump* titles & anime but was unwittingly thinking nothing of my childhood media's country of origin!)
Holy shit, I normally don't like metal, much less heavy metal with screaming/growling like this, but something about the way the singing, screaming, instruments and video come together is fucking amazing
Same. I dont like traditional metal but i have found something hipnotizing about this song. Other song that gave me a similar feeling was Mudvayne - Dig. You should check it out
I remember rocking out to Dir En Grey althroughout high school back in the early-to-late 2000s. I liked them for being darker than other groups (Malice Mizer comes to mind), but I didn't understand the meaning behind their videos until I grew up. JFC. They're even more amazing than I already thought they were when i was a kid.
@@momochiii100 It's an anti-abortion song, so is Mazohyst of Decadence (which is sung from the perspective of the murdered child.) Abortion is a common alternative to contraceptives in Japan, especially between 1880-1975. The imagery of this MV shows people indulging in hedonism at the expense of the lives of children, which are seen being brutalized several times. The lyrics also reflect this. The video has careless sex (conception), vomiting (morning sickness), the amputee (fetus), then the ever-popular scene with the woman eating the baby's head (abortion). Kyo has briefly mentioned anti-abortion sentiments before, as well.
