Every one allways say watch Alchemy Live its the "best" version.. for me the sound quality is shit half the time it is just noise you cannot seperate not like the studio version here...
I’m a 49 year old man, my dad passed away sept 7th at the age of 78. Dire straits was his favorite band hands down. This is so nostalgic for me and I loved it. I would definitely recommend this song from the Alchemy Live album. If you thought this song blew you away, the live version is 10 minutes long, and considered one of the greatest live performances of all time. Would love to see your reaction to that..
Sorry about your dad 💔 I lost mine 4 years ago and I miss him like crazy! 💔 I want to second your recommendation. It would be wild to see Hector’s reaction to the live version of Sultans!
The 70s was the pinnacle of music. It doesn't matter if you are talking about Disco, Funk, R&B, Soul, Jazz or Rock, the 70s produced the best music ever made.
First single from their debut album... And the guitarist is Mark Knopfler... yet ANOTHER guitar legend that you need to follow... Another rabbit hole to go down... Dire Staits here we come. OH YES... The live version of this is 10 minutes long and f..king amazing. You might have heard of tracks like "Money for Nothing" "Bothers In Arms", "Telegraph Road", "Romeo and Juliet", "Love Over Gold", "Tunnel of Love"... I could go on and on and on and on and on..... But I won't. And then again. You might not have heard of any of them. Just scatching the surface there and as for the deep cuts... Bloody Hell. I wonder what is coming next..... Keep on Rocking...
Awesome. Please consider: Jethro Tull "Locomotive Breath," Kansas, "Carry on Wayward Son" and Yes, "Roundabout. " All are very obvious classics to hit. Rock on.
Now this is a rabbit hole I'm pretty sure you would enjoy as much as your journey with Floyd and Zeppelin . The genius of Mark Knopfler.... a proud Geordie... is well up there alongside David Gilmour . The live " Alchemy " version of Sultans will quite literally blow you away . Love your videos 🙂 .
Just what I needed Hector.🎉 It's the story of a real live jazz band that played in the pub just for the love of playing music. It also bridged music changing from disco to punk rock.
This is exciting!!! Thank you for another great reaction video! I love Dire Straits and especially this song. Be sure and check out the Alchemy Live long version.. it's amazing!! Another popular song was Money for Nothing and also Telegraph Road, Brothers in Arms.
Mark Knopfler playing a Fender Strat. He plays the fuk out of it, no plectrum just fingers. Great album also. EVERYONE will say watch the Alchemy tour live version. It will blow your mind.
I love this song… The guitar solos were awesome but that last solo is EVERYTHING to me and gives me goosebumps and I will literally listen to this over and over and over and not get sick of it.
Hey Hector welcome to the 70’s man. I was 28 then and music is what makes my life worth living. I’ll keep note short and hope it gets your ATTENTION. If you never listen or react to another song in your life then this is one you sadly missed. Hotel California by the Eagles….listen and you won’t ever regret it. Peace.
The dude singing over it was playing it and wrote it. The band are great, the songs are also great. Treat yourself to the Alchemy live performance. It's better than this studio version. It's also a true story this song, as is Tunnel of Love, and probably Romeo and Juliet. Especially in terms of the locations mentioned in the song Tunnel of Love. Mark Knopfler is some story teller, and some guitarist. Voices the story, and lives it through his strings, all at the same time. Great reaction by the way. You are a joyful human being, and on those days I do drop in, I can't seem to lose the smile. Be well young man, keep the joy going.
Yay… I love that your back! No one does reactions like you! I missed ya and the immediate smile you always put on my face! I’m glad you got a break tho! 🥰 I’ve been listening to Etta James all last week because of you! THANK YOU! ❤️😂
Welcome to the greatest musical decade. I simply adore this track and bought it as a single on the day it was released and played it and played it and played it and played it and played it and played it 😊
I'll add my vote for you to check out the Alchemy live version of this song. The studio version is very good, but the live version is transcendent! Hope you get to listen sometime. You will not be disappointed! Love your reactions!
Yesterday was a anniversary of a very bad day for me, this just what the doctor ordered, so thank you my friend for just being you, I couldn't stop smiling, you are amazing, much love from Ohio !!
The singer is the guitar player. That’s why you hear those little riffs in between his singing.✌️😊🦋oh and you may know Money For Nothing….but that’s 80’s Dire Straights.
Love you, Mark! You put a smile on my face every time I watch you. They have a beautiful song called Romeo and Juliet that is my absolute favorite. I feel like you might know Money for Nothing by them. Sting from The Police sings the lyric "I want my MTV" at the beginning and it's very famous.
Great song from a great decade for music! I hope Gerry Rafferty’s Baker Street is on your ‘70s playlist - it’s an all-time classic and a quintessential 70s song in my book. Rock on!
Nice to have you back Hector! Immediately go find "Money for Nothing" by Dire Straits and save this gem for the 80s decade. That way you can get back to Dire Straits sooner than you planned. The song "Money for Nothing" hit Number 1 hit in the US and number 4 in the UK, and went on to win a Grammy for the Best Rock Performance in 1986, while the video won Video of the Year. Best to watch the video version to get the full experience. As an added bonus "Sting" jumps in to help out on the vocals!
Sup Hector! Thank u for reacting to this song. Love me some Dire Straits. U May know “Money for Nothing” by this band. I will tell u that their live performances are, in my option, better than the studio versions. If u have time to come back to this song I recommend the live from Alchemy version. It’s crazy good!! Have fun dipping your toes the the 70s. Some of the best music ever!!
Dire Straits are very cool man ! I suggest you « Expresso Love », « Lady writer », « Tunnel of Love », « Private investigations », « Telegraph Road », « Romeo and Juliet », « Money for nothing », « Brothers in arms » BUT those guys were AMAZING in live !!! The « Alchemy » versions of the tracks are just….unbelievable
Knopfler and Gilmour. Think there was a time they were both in their prime. Together with Freddie Mercury and Queen (and Brian May). Can you imagine? That was the standard. (they weren't alone btw, the list of legends goes on) And if one day you wanted something different from rock, and for any reason you turned to pop, there was no other than Micheal Jackson.
So much fun watching you discover Mark Knopfler! Missed you too man. If you ever back to do fuck all, I recommend you watch the live version of this song (Alchemy live) its even better. And the band has so much fun playing it.
Mark Knopfler is one of the best guitarists of all time he’s right up there, he’s my favourite and live he is amazing as are all of the incarnations of dire straits. As others have said the alchemy live version of this is top 5 live rock performances of all time 10 minutes of pure joy.
Mark, I'm glad you had a good week off.🥰I want to tell you about Peter Frampton. He taught himself to play guitar. He joined his first band at 12 yrs old and FORMED his first band at 19 yrs old. He was born in Kent, England, is still alive and performing at 73 yrs young.❤ You should check out "Do you Feel Like We Do" (because you'll need a cigarette after). The best version is from The Midnight Special show in 1975 (He is wearing shining silver pants)😂. The album "Frampton Comes Alive" went platinum 8 times and was voted #3 best LIVE album of all time in 2012. The song "Do You Feel Like We Do" is one of 3 singles that charted #1 in 1976.❤I think you'll love it. It charted higher than Fleetwood Mac, which is no small feat. I love FM, too.
I remember when it came out dude, I'm like, got to be the longest solo ever, ha. Money for Nothing was another big hit in the early 80's by them, it's a jamn
STEELY DAN (that's a band) Gaucho Josie Aja (I could go on. And on. And on. They are your favorite band's favorite band. Welcome back. We missed you too!
welcome back Hector, great you've had time to recharge, we've all missed you and a corking track to kick off the 70's. You're now entering one of the best decades for music ever, at least that's what us 50 to 80 year olds will say. Welcome back matey 😊😊😊
1967-1973 was the greatest, imo, period for rock. More genius sound crammed into those years than any other time period. But the 70's as a whole were insanely great, as Dire Straits (1977, I think?) just showed you! And yes, "decades," not "centuries." I had an impulse to make a remark in the comments about that last week, but I resisted, not wanting to be "that guy," because I used to be him a lot more often until I realized what a pedantic little putz I was being, lol! "Industrial Disease" by Dire Straits is also FABULOUS!!
I was lucky enough to see Dire Straights in Las Vegas. Yeah. The best. You're right. It's a solo with drums! Mark Knopfler also recorded with Chet Atkins, btw. Check out Mark Knopfler, Chet Atkins and the Everly Brothers, "Why Worry."
Hey Hector, I'm here for the 70's!!!! Born in 69, this will be fun!!!!💜💜💜I'm glad you had a great break!!!! We missed your face too!!! What a great way to start the 70's!!!!🤗🤗🤗
Wish you would have reacted to the Live at Alchemy video. Lot's of bonus material and if you liked the drums in the studio recording, watching the drummer in the Alchemy video will send you over the top.
I never get tired of hearing this, it's so clean. And it just feels good. And I do actually like the story and the various vignettes in it. Having played in bands my whole life and hanging out in that kind of scene, it all just really rings true and he delivers it in such a cool way.
Hey there Im new to this channel and loving it. This song live from DS Sydney Final Concert 1986,( easy to access on YT.) is jawdropping. Another song you may love from DS is Once Upon A Time In The West from Alchemy Live 1983. Cheers all the best from Australia 👍🎸🎸🎸
Part of the greatness of this band is the singer is also playing lead so if you listen to how he transists to guitar from the vocals it gives them a core strength
Love your reactions and it's great to watch discover great new music for the first time. Here are two GREAT songs from the 70s: The Who - "Love Reign O'er Me." Do the studio version with lyrics. Also, Yes - "Relayer" studio version. You cannot go wrong, though Relayer is a very challenging song!
No matter what, we always referred to the Dire Straits as The Sultans of Swing. These guys were a staple. I do hope you slip in some Three Dog Night and Steve Miller Band somewhere. It ain’t the 70’s without those dudes.
My uncle gave this to me the year it dropped. I was into AC/DC, Zep, Sabbath, Zappa Steppenwolf, Hendrix, ZZ-Top and Van Halen (among lots of other "hard rock"). Put it on the shelf for like, seriously 1 or 2 years, unopened. Picked it up one day and put it on as a lark.... 1st listen and I was totally sold. Actually the whole album is amazing. To this day, one of the best I have heard.
Thanks for doing the studio version! The guitarist is also the vocalist, Mark Knopfler. As for other song by them, there's plenty. One you might have heard was "Money for Nothing" (1985) with it's repeated tag line _"...I want my MTV..."_ but I'm rather partial to the next track on the same album, "Your Latest Trick"... if you do it, make sure it's the studio version with the long saxophone intro. It's brilliant! And I must warn you that "Brothers in Arms", the title track to that 1985 album, will definitely break you... If you listen to the lyrics just a little, you will lose it, I promise you! Indeed, you might want to do that one when you're ready for another break! ;-]
“Mark Knopfler has an extraordinary ability to make a Schecter Custom Stratocaster hoot and sing like angels on a Saturday night, exhausted from being good all week and needing a stiff drink.” ― Douglas Adams, So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish
Mark Knopfler is a true student of the guitar. The late great Chet Atkins and Mark even did an album together--and did some live performances together. Well worth watching.
Here’s my suggestions for 70s if it’s not too late. These are the greats! -Imagine by John Lennon -Layla by Derek & the Dominoes (Eric Clapton) -25 or 6 to 4, live at Tanglewood, by Chicago -Give Up The Funk by Parliament -Roundabout by Yes -Anarchy in the UK by the Sex Pistols -I Feel Love by Donna Summer -Highway to Hell by AC/DC -Don’t Stop Until You Get Enough by Michael Jackson -Run Like Hell by Pink Floyd
Dire Straits are a band where you can't really go wrong. Mark Knopfler is a great guitarist. When you get to the 80's Telegraph Road or Private Investigations would probably appeal to you
@@brainsqueezereactions That's so sad. It's one if the greatest tracks of all time, imo. I highly recommend you to listen to it for yourself than. You won't regret it!!😊😘
BEWARE: a '70's classic is Hotel California by The Eagles, but I've seen loads of reaction channels have been hit with penalties for covering it. Maybe there is a way around it, who knows?
Just a few 70's suggestions, Reelin in the Years- Steely Dan, Olivers Army- Elvis Costello, I'm Not In Love- 10CC, Don't Fear The Reaper- Blue Oyster Cult.
