Dire Straits Why worry Lise & Gertrud voice & cello duo 

One of my very favorite Dire Straits songs. What a wonderful version. Terrific!

I went into medicine instead of music. It was a good choice for myself and many others, but I never stopped playing. I’m now retiring from medicine and again turning more attention to music. Working on a baritone arrangement for why worry, I stumbled upon your site. The two of you are a light in the dark. Yours is the most emotional version I have ever heard. Listening moved me to subscribe and listen to more of your arrangements. You awoke in me something that I knew but let fall dormant for a long time. It’s the quality, not the quantity, of the notes played - and the sincerity of your arrangements creates a moving and deeper understanding of everything you compose. In some instances, it’s as if I’m listening to a familiar song for the first time. You bring a deeper meaning and understanding to everything you perform. Wow! Thank you. I hope I have a chance to see you perform live at some point in the future.

not to be compared to the original, though, how can it be? this version is not a copy if an original, but a different realization of the message, which is universal. I love this version, and I love the original, jus as much!

I love this! Very calming and the beauty is in the sparseness, I think. I have to admit that it seems that the delivery would be more expressive if the primary vocalist didn't pin her arms back over the chair. I would have like to have seen her add some movement to punctuate but perhaps she felt it would distract attention from the movements of the cellist. I greatly enjoyed this. Thank you for uploading it.

Yes, Mark Knopfler wrote this song. He also wrote Prairie Wedding which Kenny Rogers covered. He did the soundtrack to Princess Bride, Local Hero and many others. Whether he wrote this specifically for the Everly Brothers I don't know. News to me but I could be wrong.

@buddybodie your welcome, no music can please everybody. but you shouldnt compare a studio recording with a live performance without any backup. Here on youtube I've seen some knopfler gigs that wasnt too impressing soundwise compared to the studio original, but that's only to be expected when a proper backup band is not included.

no not as good as original, but its a nice thing with these covers: they are a universal language, almost anyone can relate to them without the confinements of spoken language, right? :)

Okay, due to your question I went digging...and have to apologize, I was mistaken. Mark K. did write this, and then the Everly Bros. subsequently covered it. My bad.

It's just different...deal with it. I love DS but also enjoyed this. The song is big enough to cope!

I'm simply amazed at the beauty of both these ladies' voices - could have done without the cello imo, perhaps a lighter instrument would have fit their voices better, but still wonderful

Wonderful interpretation/cover, but they attribute it to Mark Knopfler. i"Why Worry" was recorded decades earlier by The Everley Bros., who Knopfler idolized and covered.

covers är nästan alltid antingen dåliga eller mkt dåliga jmf med originalet så en "dålig" cover är fullkomligt normalt och inget att skriva hem om. Sen är det också vanskligt att jmf en studioinspelning på en månad och en live version som tar 3 minuter.
