In this metalworking project, I make a new set of 4 brass knobs for my 14" Delta Bandsaw. This bandsaw is actually the very first bandsaw that I ever used as a little kid, which my dad purchased for me, so it means a lot to me. I will refurbish it someday soon, but for now, these 4 brass knobs that I built will add a some welcomed shine. The lathe that I used for this metalworking project is a 1967 10' x 16" southbound that I got from a machine dealer few years ago, and I am only the second owner. I hope that you enjoy this metalworking project!
Thank you

Never thought I'd say I enjoy watching another man polish his own knob

The most impressive bit of this build might be the way you hand stamped those knobs.

Seriously, I have a hard enough time stamping evenly on a flat surface in a straight line. Always have at least one letter I gotta go back and try to restamp then Im off location from the original and I mess it up and double stamp that letter and I have to chuck it through the window

I have my Dad's old Table saw. (Sears 10" ~1970) I know what you mean when you said "it's special". He gave it to me when I started my 1st house 1980. I could have a better saw. But enjoy upgrading it from time to time. My he RIP.

I have that same band saw! I inherited it from my wife's uncle. It sat unused for about 10 years in his old shop. Replaced the belt and bearings and added a switch. It's good as new. Can't beat the old Delta tools.

@@jimmydiresta Jimmy, I went to your website and now I feel like moron. Lol I added myself to the waitlist for your workshops that you offer as well. Wanted to solicit your business with an idea for a custom build for myself but not sure if you do commissions like that. Need a lightweight collapsible rolling cart for pier and surf fishing. Can't really fish anymore because of my physical limitations. If you don't do custom commissions like this, no worries at all. Never hurts to ask. Thank you so very much for your attention in this matter. I really appreciate it.

Great video as always. i love seeing all of your older tools in use! yesterday i got a older late 70s early 80s rockwell lathe that needs some work and is missing some pieces (banjo, tail stock) your videos have always inspired me top restore old pieces of equipment and to find someone giving them away because they do not know the value of a well built older tool. I will be restoring it this summer and setting it up in my new shop i will be building. so THANK YOU for all you do and keep on being you!

On the dividing head portion, rather than working the x axis back and forth to zero on your dro, just go to zero once, and then raise the quill, index to the next position, then plunge the quill....rotate, plunge, etc...you'll get a lot less chatter and better finish because less cutter flex, since all the loads are axial along the cutter ....👍🍻
